25 goals in the Portuguese league along with a second place finishing in uefa's scoring list. I think this is well deserved if not under rating him just a bit.

Liedson is a easy scoring fast player, he proved that but I dont read portuguese but I saw the names of Eto'o, Ronaldo, Henry is he being compared to them or so?
If so that wouldnt be fair they are in a totally other level of playing...

Liedson is by far one of the best players in the world. His finishing, quickness and fearless to play anywhere in the world, Middlesbrough, AZ, Feyenoord he's done it all. He is soooo underated its unbelievable. 25 goals in his first season along with 8/9 goals in Uefa Cup, its so sad to see a talent like him not in the Champions League, Sporting are much better than those rubbish defensive Udinese they were so unlucky not to beat them. They would be much more threatening to Barca in the Champs.League.
Have u seen his heading attributes for a small guy. Absolutley amazing
Deivid is also amazing.

Liedson imo is decent. Do I want him in Porto? Personally no I wouldn't. don't like his style of play.
As for Devid being "amazing" is way over doing it, he's far from amazing, he's far from even being good.

Thanks for the support, hopefully next year SCP can make it to the CL. But we still have half a season to go, hopefully we get better, and we will have to if we want to reach the CL.
Liedson is a very good player last season he was top notch, he seems to be starting to come into gear this season in recent matches as well. LIEDSON RESOLVE

The way he is going to, he may just as well win the scoring race again this year.

Sporting Clube de Portugal striker Liedson has signed a new contract, committing his future to the Portuguese title chasers until the summer of 2010.
Liedson delight
Liedson has scored 52 goals in 81 Liga games for the Lisbon club – including 12 in 20 so far this season. Originally tied to Sporting until June this year, he was delighted to agree the new deal. "I am very happy – Sporting mean everything to me, they have opened so many doors for me," said the 28-year-old Brazilian, who joined Sporting from SC Corinthians Paulista in 2003.

This made my day, yesterday when i got home. 8.5m over 4 years is well deserved. He was working in a grocery store at the age of 22, 5 years later he was playing in Uefa cup final. How things change.

While it was a good move renewing his contract I'm not sure if it was that wise staying with Liedson on a such high salary until he is 32.
8.5 million in four seasons wow

. I'm not sure but if he is not the highest payed player in Portugal he must be pretty close.

Sporting striker signs onskysports

Sporting Lisbon have been handed a massive boost with the news that prolific striker Liedson has signed a new contract to remain with the Portuguese giants.
The quick-footed Brazilian had been involved in lengthy discussions over his future, but he has finally quelled Sporting fans' worries by signing a new deal that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2009/10 season.
The 28-year-old expressed his delight at the new deal, and has huge ambitions for the Lisbon club.
"I'm extremely happy," the free-scoring Brazilian said.
"I always expressed my wish to renew my contract with Sporting and I'd like to thank Sporting and the club president for the faith they've shown in me.
"Now I want to continue to work hard, like I have done since I arrived on the first day in 2003.
"I want to repay the faith and confidence shown in me with goals and titles.
"I want titles, titles and more titles."
The deal will be seen as a significant coup for Sporting, tying down one of the hottest talents in the Portuguese top-flight.
With Liedson's initial contract due to expire at the end of the season, speculation of a move to a host of clubs had continued for several months.
There was speculation at one point that he may even join bitter city rivals Benfica; a claim which the striker dismissed outright.
"There is no way that I could ever play in another shirt that wasn't Sporting's in Portugal," he added.
Liedson was top scorer in last season's Super Liga with 25 goals, and he has netted 12 so far this campaign.

I only saw him a few times. I lived in a country that do not boardcast Portugese soccer. I am confused with his style. Is he an attacking midfielder or striker? He seemed to play behind the main striker, right?

Pretty much the best striker in the league. He's good in the air, always a constant threat.
The thing that really annoys me is that he's a baby. He dives so much. Sometimes he tends to miss the easiest of chances, but still he is the best striker, and will most likely get the most goals in Portugal this season.

Best striker in Portugal by far
strong in the air and has good ball control and is a great finisher. also plays for the best team
he went through a rough patch this season sorting out contract issues
but hes back and ready to score goals he also has the tendency to rise to the occasion in most of the big games.

I would rate Liedson 9/10 just because he needs to hit the gym, he is too skinny in my opinion. Either than that he is a world class player, he can shoot well, score from headers, he has good technical ability and has great timing. He is an excellent striker.

He has been fair this year.... has not scored as many goals in the league as I would like but he has scored a few in the CL which is nice to see him playing well on the "big stage". He is the only striker I can think of that commits 10X more fouls then he draws
I think it is kind of funny I never really hear to much noise about teams looking to buy Liedson after all the success he has had in Portugal over the last few years. I hear Sporting throw around numbers like 20 million Euros for his rights that may scare away teams as a 30 year old striker only has a few years left of soccer and has no resale value..... I would be very happy to see him play in the green and white for a few more years

Liedson suffered a knee injury when he scored the 3rd goal in the SCP win over Dinamo.... He was taken off the field on a stretcher late in the game and did not come back into the game. His knee was wrapped and he was taken straight to the locker room.... It is feared the injury may be serious....

If Liedson is seriously injured it'll completely ruin the 3-0 victory for us. It was a meaningless game anyhow and to have him get injured in it...

Just listened to an interview with Gomes Pereira the SCP team doctor... and he said after his examination the knee seems stable and he does not suspect any ligament damage. He said Liedson is still experiencing pain in the knee and he will be re-examined tomorrow.....
I guess time will tell maybe an MRI tomorrow will clear up any question around the knee injury
