HOLY CRAP i forgot Zidane
Dirty Sanchez
If the vastly overrated John "handball" Terry is in there, why isn't Rio Ferdinand?
razis_wwf13
Best Players Now...

Keeper: Cech or Buffon

Defender: Cannavaro and Carragher (Terry stops handballing, then i'll consider him...)
Left Back: HEINZE!!
Right Back: Paulo Ferreira is underrated...

Defensive Midfielder: Makelele or Emerson
Attacking Mdfielder: Kaka'
Left Wing: Ronaldinho (Yes guys...ronaldinho is a left winger, i'm sick of ppl and newspapers classifying him as an attacking mid...)
Right Wing: Joaquin or Camoranesi (two underrated players...)

Strikers: This is difficult...i have to say Henry and Trezeguet...based on current form...and yes, Eto'o is very very overrated...he'd be nothing if he's in another club other than barca...
ze_89_us
This season:
Attack: Toni
Mid-field: Xavi
Defence: Maldini smile.gif

Their whole career:
Attack: Ronaldo
Mid-Field: Zidane
Defence: Maldini
These 3 are not arguable imo.
ReadingFC15
sorry eveyone, i was thinking to hard, i should have put a "other" selection. sorry to all
Dippy
Striker: Henry

Midfield: Ronaldinho no contest

Defence: Maldini

guys who chose Samuel Eto'o think he's the best attacker since he's got the most goals

on that mentality, more of you might as well consider Lampard since he's also got more goals than Gerrard and he's got the backing of many coachs all over the world who watch EPL and thinks Mourinho's words are simply the truth.

Eto's got the world player award, Drogba got top 10 and players like Jamie Carragher are not anywhere in top 10 so why not add Drogba to the list.
Lorenzo.

In THIS season, Eto`o has been the best striker..no doubt. And not only coz of his goals but he does very much dirty work on the pitch too. And his finishing has improved alot compared to the last season.
hamtaroboy
he's not that far as you might believe, but he's improve in teamwork, shooting and his work ethic, mentality and belief as a footballer is something most should see in him and with all that and the whole team's improvement he does get plenty of goals. But since he has bagged the most goals people place him higher than he actually is. I'm not saying he's not around top 3 strikers.

Last season he has 28 goals in all comps. He had taken a total of around 80+ shots.

This season, we're only in January he scored he already has around 90++ shots. 21 goals.

It's quite amazing. The rise in shots.

It isn't just Eto'o.

It's most of the other players as well.

And what tells us Barca's football is so good?

I hope you understand the point about this.

Because Drogbas shit
hamtaroboy
you don't get the point...
MAΣΣAΛIA
I think it's not a good idea to just choose players in 3 positions.
Cause you don't play 1 defender, 1 mid and 1 striker only.
Anyway I've chosen Carragher for the defender, Gerrard for the mid and Henry for the striker, because I think they're all very complete, very strong and they never let go...
Lorenzo.

To clear this up, this about they're whole careers, Jamie has had an amazing career. i know i forgot to put an "other" selection chose, i messed up so chill the hell out. ill probally make another in mid-end of Feburary or later when the season is more complete. ok?

Well mate, the tittle says current so these are the players I voted for.

Luca Toni Not only can this man score, he has lifted up a 17 placed side (last season) and has thrown them into the top 5. With 19 goals on the top of the Italian top scorers list, this man is the best striker in the world at the moment. He is on fire. Made the biggest breaktrough. From coming to Palermo to Fiorentina to getting a place in the Italian National Team. Real instict for goal scoring as the records show.

Ronaldinho Do I even have to explain why he is the best midfielder in the world? Considered from many people to be a big gamble for when United wanted to sign him, the Brazilian signed for Barcelona and turned an underachieving team, into the La Liga Champions. How? With amazing trickery, an eye for goal scoring, and the versatality to play anywhere in the attack or midfield. The reason why Real Madrid were beaten like they were a non league team.

Lucio Oh man, is this guy great!? Not only can he defend and he showed us in the Confederations Cup and with Bayern Munich but he can also attack and score goals. One of the thoughest players to get past. A real nightmare of an attacker.

Wingers are attacking mifielders, attacking midfielders are not necessarily wingers.

kinda like a square is a rectangle but a rectangle is not necessarily a square
hamtaroboy
He's not a left sided midfielder, he's a left winger/foward
bob dylan
CRISTIANO RONALDO! CRISTIANO RONALDO! CRISTIANO RONALDO!!

He's so good! Does lots of stepovers and is very fast and does lots of tricks, best player in the world no doubt. Plays for Manchester City, yeah?

dry.gif

Seriously now, tongue.gif Good topic, and here's who I chose, I tried to be as unbiased as possible laugh.gif

Samuel Eto'o;

Simply the best forward in the world, his goal per game average is simply outstanding, and not only that, he contributes alot to the team. Constantly pressuring the defence, forcing them into mistakes, and comes deep to pick up the ball and even defend when needed to. For those who say he is selfish, he works extremely hard for the team, so if he makes the wrong choice now and then I won't get too flustered. He's improved since last season and is almost definately this season's Pichichi in La Liga, if he keeps up this outstanding form, the Golden Boot is more than likely his, though Luca Toni deserves an honorable mention as well.

Ronaldinho;
Had I been allowed to choose a few more players, i'd have included Xavi, Gerrard, Kaka, Lampard and a couple of others, since it's not part of the topic to do so, I limited myself. The brilliance with which he combines an artist's touch to devastating effectiveness makes him every defenders nightmare, is having a much better season than the previous one, and he was Spanish champion in the previous season. One can only wonder what this man will achieve. Second top scorer in La Liga, which is quite a feat for a person who's main job is to create goals.

As Chris Rock would so aptly put it - "If Ronaldinho was a woman, Ronaldinho would be a big-t*tty woman" laugh.gif

Puyol;
Many undervalue Puyol's overall contribution to Barça and Spain, despite what many may say, IMO one of the top 3 centre-backs in the world at this moment, and his influence and leadership of Barça, not to mention his overall excellent game and the fact that he, along with Valdes, are the only players that have played every Barça game this season. He even refused to be left out of the squad against Zamora in the Copa del Rey laugh.gif Quite stupid, but shows his dedication the damn lion that he is.

Surprises me Goalkeepers aren't included, but if I had to choose, then;

Casillas;
Seriously. Nobody better, if there was anybody I'd take from the Madridistas' it'd be him.

^^ lol doesnt come more UNBIASED than that laugh.gif

my choices:

Striker : Thierry Henry - i dont need to explain!
Midfielder : Steven Gerrard - pure class - single-handedly won the champions league for Pool.
Defender :Carles Puyol - AMAZING defender. his work-rate is off the charts. he always gives 100% . best defender in the world for me.

Yes, another individual who realises the abilities of Puyol thumbsup.gif tongue.gif

Totti is the best at all forms of attack.

In defense... Who cares, defense sucks anyway. We can go with Walter Samuel and Casillas as goalie.
parkjunwung
Best striker is Ruud
In midfield , I like Juninho but i'll vote for Ronaldinho.
In defence . i'll vote for John Terry
