I just wanted to point out that grease is absolutely great for boots when it's raining and when the pitch is "under" water. It literally repels the water.

But grease clogs the pores of leather boots, making it near impossible for the boots to get absorb and evaporate your sweat.

Yeah it does repel water, and keep it in as well.

I wouldnt reccomend it, but its your decision buddy.

Cheers

Speaking of boot care, I would like to know how to take care of K leather, as i am getting Manias soon and I want them to last as long as possible.

Talking of dubbing, i just bought some with my Air Legends and it dosn't have instructions how to use, may sound stupid but do you put it on while they're drying, or do they have to be dry before applying it??

Maybe i can help a bit. Of course boot care is very important.

In general, most natural leathers should not be "greased", or as someone mentioned, all the pores will clog up. This is also why some treated leathers are not breathable, if they have been sprayed or treated with some waxes from the factory.

I'll leave it to others to comment in detail about other prouducts, but as for our new Pittards WR Premiership material used on hummel boots, because it is a special material, I can tell you the following (info from a book that comes with the shoes-

In cooperation with Pittards Leather, hummel International is proud to introduce Pittards WR Premiership Goat Skin leather specially developed for outstanding football boot performance. hummel International is the first brand to introduce this exciting new material in Football boots.

WR100X Treatment
The WR100X tanning process has been specially engineered to offer improved water resistance properties, which keep your hummel footwear protected at all times. Although water is sealed from getting in, WR100X leather is still breathable and will allow perspiration and air to pass through the fiber structure, keeping the foot cool and comfortable.

Ordinary leathers take over 24 hours to dry and are usually hard and prone to cracking. WR100 leather dries in around 6 hours, and is as soft and supple as on the first wearing.

Care
Pittards WR Premiership Goat Skin leather is a unique premium performance product specifically designed for the high performance needs of football boots. Pittards WR Premiership Goat Skin leather has been specially treated with permanent conditioning and protection.

If properly cared for, your boots will last a long time providing years of performance.

1. Cleaning. Clean surface dirt from your boots using a damp towel. Use only water and do not use chemical cleaners, bleach or harsh abrasive materials. Never machine wash Pittards WR Premiership Goat Skin leather boots.
2. Drying. Always allow your boots to dry in open air after a match. Do not keep in an airtight bag or place near a heat source. Never machine dry boots with Pittards WR Premiership Goat Skin leather. To help preserve the shape of your boots, it is recommended to use a wooden shoe trees or gently stuff your boots with newspaper while air drying.
3. Conditioning. Pittards WR Premiership Goat Skin leather has been specially conditioned during the tanning process to permanently infuse important compounds into the leather grain structure for incredible softness and touch. This treatment will last for the life of your boots. No additional conditioning treatments are required.
4. Protection. The Pittards WR100X treatment has been bonded to the structure of the leather grain during tanning for increased water and sweat resistance. This protection is permanent. No additional protection sprays or treatments are required. The use of additional oils, or petroleum products on Pittards leather, may clog the pores and reduce breathability.

I can also provide more info about the material, but dont want to go too off topic on the boot care issue. I'll post the rest in a new thread.

Whoa, I didn't know about the clog thing, thx for telling me. Interesting, my sister got that grease with her leather shoes, but why would they give with the shoes when it's not good for the shoes ??? blink.gif
What products you use to keep you're boots repel water. I also have a shoe cream with bee wax, it says it repels water ...

I found that using mink oil works really well, wen i got my averios the guy at the soccer shop said it would work real well and i just happened to have some lying around and it works well with repeling water. Thats all ive ever used on my boots so i wouldnt know if anything works any better. One question though, wat does leather food actually do?

in fact, i have used mink oil also, my dad gave it to me, and it works really well. i used it on my aveiros (2nd model) and my pulses and it leaves the leather feeling very soft and smooth. R@mpaGe, was your mink oil white, because mine was more like white cream.

does anyone know if goof off will damage shoes? ive been using small doses on my vapor 3's to get scuff marks off...thought afterwards that it would ruin the glue or something perhaps. Anyone know?

I have a kinda process for my leather boots. First I apply mink oil, mine is an acutal oil though, generously, so its nice and shiny, then i rub off the extra with a rag. Then I have a black shoes polish, like in a flat can. Apply this on the nugget (the brush), then apply all over the boots. Then I get a blank nugget and polish up the boots, removing the extra polish and keeping it nice.

Its more like a ritual then anything else. Im sure everything works, but this keeps my copas and cups looking mint. And it works on other BLACK boots as well. I did this to my manias, went over the curl pads and the stripes, and they became black. But then again its all for show anyway so its up to you.

Cheers
