Let me enlighten yo poor sucker who have fallen into the MLS trap, USL First Division is the what fifa calls "Division two in the USA", lets leave it at that, but so you guys know teams like Rochester, Montreal and Vancouver are more than capable of holding themselves in the same league as some MLS teams.

The teams are,
- Puerto Rico Islanders "La Tropa Naranja" and probably the greatest club in the Caribbean.
- California Victory (Deportivo Alves affiliate)
- Carolina Railhawks
- Minnesota Thunder
- Miami FC
- Rochester Raging Rhinos
- Vancouver Whitecaps
- Montreal Impact
- Atlanta Silverbacks
- Charleston Battery "The Blabery"
- Portland Timbers
- Seattle Sounders
- Virginia Beach Marines

do these guys get paid shit?
i can imagine it atleast

USL teams tend to get paid a good degree less than MLS players and the standard is somewhat worse, although it's not a vast amount away from MLS, think English League Two to English Championship, the USL teams do make the odd shock in the US Open Cup and knock out MLS teams, just as League Two sides sometimes knock out bigger clubs.

The crowd attendance is all over the place mind, some players such as Montreal Impact get like 15,000 (but thats inflated as the club is run not for profit, and gives away thousands of tickets each match) whereas some like Miami FC draw about 3,000 (now that Romario has left them).

More likely than not, in future expansions the MLS will just cherry pick the best franchises from here and promote them to the MLS, more likely than not Vancouver, Montreal, Portland, Atlanta and Seattle and possibly Carolina if they do well (their an expansion team this year), Vancouver's owner has already gone on record stating he wants MLS and the new stadium their planning would be perfect for MLS.

I could then see the rest of the A-League essentially becoming an affiliate league to the MLS, in the style of the minor baseball leagues to the MLB.

These were the standings from the USL-1 2006 season sccrislife. Rochester Raging Rhinos are usually a very competitive team, and I think Seattle usually does better than they did. I'm not entirely sure about the rest, although the Thunder are one of the lesser teams in the league. Sorry Joshinho whistling.gif

Even though FIFA considers USL professional...its mostly referred to as semi pro

even though I am a Super-Y player I still feel that they may be right I mean their crowd sizes are rediculous and so is the fanbase

First the USL is not a League you should kno that its a compilation of league which are mostly armature , except for the Div 1 and Div 2 which are pros and then the PDL which is semi-pro. Second if i cared what other people think i would be a doctor. I follow my Islanders cause they represent my area and im proud of that and im proud that they kick butt in the Caribbean since not that many PR teams can attest to that. The fan base we are working on it, each year it increases and last year we hit a record high of 12k. SOme USL teams avarege 10k per game which i think is pretty decent.
