Rangers FC vs Villarreal CF
Looking forward to another great game at Ibrox
Hopefully taking the game to the Yellow Submarine will ruffle a few feathers
Look out for Ibrox's 3rd Card display of the Champions League, a stunning "We are the People" is planned for when the teams line up for the anthem

Carrots my good man, I can assure you I am not dismissing this tie, however thanks to a ridiculous bet I made back in August, I'm on to an even more ridiculous sum of money should Villarreal go all the way.
So good luck, but commiseration's in advance

Don't worry mate...
I have money on Villarreal from August as well

Although I would sacrifice that ridiculous sum to make sure Rangers get that cup with the Big Ears at the end of it

You all bet money on Villarreal...all wise men, I assure you.
Unfortunately, I can't watch the match because there's no online stream and I don't get GolTV or anything. So I'll be watching Chelsea-Barca and just keeping track of the score in Glasgow.
Carrots you lucky bastard...I wish I lived in Europe. Oh well. I hope it's a great game and the Yellow Submarine gives you a good thrashing.

0-1 Riquelme.
That may actually be that for the whole tie.
Edit: 1-1, so much for that

1 - 0 to the Yellow Submarine, a Juan Roman Riquelme penalty gives them the lead at Ibrox. A Dado Prso handball gave away the penalty.
EDIT 1: Peter Lovenkrands levels the scores. He fires a left footed drive from the edge of the 18 yard box into the back of the net. Chris Burke gets the assist after a good dribble.
EDIT 2:Villa had a goal disallowed , Gonzalo Rodriguez scored, but it was disallowed for offside. The play came from a Riquelme free kick.
EDIT 3: Villa have abother goal wiped off as Forlan is judged to be offside.
EDIT 4: Diego Forlan puts Villarreal in the lead for the second time.

Man, this looks like a good game.
Good to see those 2 teams playing football with some goals, wasn't too likely.

Deserved 2-1 lead from what I read, Rangers need to show up now, hopefully they can do it for some excitement.

Apart from the stunning goal Lovenkrands did sweet fuck all.
Burke and set peices seemed like Rangers' only chances of scoring so i feel they did well to get two goals out of Villareal.
The tie is certainly still alive, i can see Rangers scoring over there.

Honestly, had Rangers actually scored their second goal by themselves, I would have been reasonably happy with the result. But aaaaaaaah!!! Pena!

You know that's his third own goal since we played Barcelona in La Liga? That night he had two own goals, though one of them was attributed to Deco, but it deflected off of him and would never have done in if Pena wasn't in the way. What a dreadfully unlucky man...and he's bringing us bad luck too!

I'm alright with the result. Rangers may be able to score in Spain, but if all goes normally, there's no chance in hell Rangers will beat us at home. Riquelme wasn't even 100% fit and he was magical tonight. Too bad about the heap of disallowed goals too. They were probably alright too though.
I was actually watching Chelsea/Barcelona instead of the this, since there was no stream and I don't get GolTV. For the longest time I thought we had won it 2-1...gaah.

Told you it would be game of the round
Villarreal are awesome, easily the best team i've seen at Ibrox in a long time, and Riquelme is AWESOME!

Glad to see some good spirits around here in this forum.. A fresh change compared to the things going on in the barca-chelsea thread.
I would have loved them to win 2-1 but 2-2 aint a bad result either with two away goals. Villa could get away with a 0-0 or an 1-1 and still get to the quarterfinal. That is good news.
Btw, Riquelme is awesome.

Well thats the thing...
Yeah, we didn't lose, but we left a hell of a mountain to climb, I dont fancy us winning in El Madrigal, and i really can't see a high scoring draw

Absolutely devestated at the way we lost the goals: To lose a goal to a penalty, and then a goal which makes a mockery of the offside rule is painful....gone are the days when Offside was a straight line across the pitch and one move
Imagine if the World Cup Final is settled on a crazy goal attributing to the laughable offside rule?
But then, had Villarreal not scored when they did, I doubt they would have taken the foot off the pedal
Not a bad night at Ibrox to see two Argentine Internationals playing well
And another point, loved hearing the Villarreal fans singing "Yellow Submarine" was immense

Lol the Villareal fans sung that? Brilliant.
Their fans let off some of those smoke flares in Central station yesterday afternoon as well lol. The whole place was covered in smoke.

Yeah, was sheer comedy gold, it was quite quiet, but it was heard enough, so comical

I'm sure Strathclyde's finest would have been happy with the flare in Central Station
They were staying in the Radisson hotel just round the corner from my work, as were all the UEFA Delegates....
Should have went down on Tuesday night with a big drum and a trumpet and gave them a good nights sleep

Not looking so bad for Rangers now - Riquelme has a back injury

Nice try, Nipper. He's playing in Argentina's friendly tomorrow.

Pellegrini's a smart man, he'll probably save him for the CL, which is really bad news for Rangers because then he's rested and will be looking expend all his unused energy.

I bet the second leg won't be as hard for Rangers as the first leg was for us, because the Ibrox crowd was brutal that night. Jeered every time Villarreal touched the ball, whereas in El Madrigal they're usually always cheering, dunno why, but it's a much happier place.

Thats why Ibrox has one of the best atmospheres in the world......we actually don't stop

Glad to see someone outside of Scotland think's were brutal

, all we usually get is Scottish mhedia telling us how it's loud, and a few players like Buffon and Tacchinardi saying that the atmosphere is great, but never brutal
Cheers Xyrus

I heard he got a slight back injury in his last game. I don't really care mind you, not a Gers fan (thank God!
