what does the writing in the middle of the chest mean on the england kits?... im just a poor american boy who would like to know...

It's the match details of the particular game. It will state England v whoever and the match date. This has happened since 2001 when England played Greece. Ever since ever England shirt contains match details as individual shirts are printed up for each match and shirts are only used then for that 1 game. Each player gets issued 2 shirts per match.
This is common practice in National team shirts as Ireland, Portugal, Holland and France have been doing it for a few years now.
