Why do you still see players wearing boots that are, well, pretty rubbish? tongue.gif

What I mean is, with the money that players are on, and the state of the art boots that are available why are players still wearing old boots? Especially strikers, Crouch for example, he has proper referee style puma's. I know other players do as well, but what is the reason? Surely they cant be better?

oh old boots can CAN be better

for example copas ... they are the comfiest boots ever invented so pros go for them

its all a matter of taste ...
jordan s
puma execs ent that old either mate
Pompeyboy
I think you have answered your own question mate, if players still wear them then surely that tells you they are not rubbish.
JLEA244
so what old boots that u see players wearing do you consider to be rubbish??
JOOPER
you could say new boots are crap, all a matter of taste!
Dervish
Quite simply and as sweet as "boots dont make a difference what so ever, its just about becoming a player with good touch and technique through constant practice, not through your boots."

Quite frankly,

weight doesnt make a difference

the marketing bollocks worth of "technology" on boots doesnt make a difference

boots dnt make u play better

Put a pro football player in a pair of timberlands on a pitch im sure theyd perform pretty much alrite. (ok maybe a lil exagerated) but u get the jist its just about adapting to the boots, not mattering on what u have.
nunataker
i personally hate such answers

for sure do boots make a differnce

you can run faster with light vapor on your feet instead of an heavy old footie boot

you have more grip with nomis than with copas

etc.
tarsey1989
if your saying boots dont make much of a difference then why don't you try playing in say a pair of walking boots, shape, weight, traction and kicking surface have a difference to some extent but not the fact that an ordinary bog stadard striker could put a pair of vapors on and become henry or put a pair of absolutes on and be able to pass like gerrard or beckham, sure boots make a difference but not a huge one. otherwise we could all be running round pitches in the new millets spring collection
gfromda301
boots or cleats, lol, do make a difference, when i wear my f50s especially on a wet field, they feel so heavy and i cant run very good. When i wear my vapors they feel very light and comfortable, which makes my performance better.

i can notice a difference in power and swerve with pulse, but i cant feel the powerpulse

Like everyone else said, it's all a matter of tastes and personal preference. But some players just wear cleats for good luck. I had a friend who played semi-pro for years and made a good amount of money but wore boots that he bought for $20 (not on sale). He said they were good luck.

Coppas have been around for AGES and theyr still one of the top boots worn by tops players!

I think you should reword your post to say
"Why do you still see players wearing boots without flashy colours like silver and bright yellow?"
Sky
Different cleats and technologies DO make a difference, but not as exaggerated as they advertise. Maybe some players think certain brands and/or models are "lucky" to them, because they performed brilliantly in them as a youth which got him scouted by a pro club, and they continue to wear them. Down to personal preference I'd say.

I could reword it, but then that wouldnt be the question. Gerrard, Alonso, Messi e.t.c dont wear flashy coloured boots. I was just wondering why players wear cheaper boots when with there wages they could all afford vapors and tunits.
Pubes
maybe they find them more comfortable?..maybe they dont like flashy boots?..there isnt really a definant answer..personal preferance
strikerboy
why do pros wear old boots? Because they want to.

Yeah great answer...........
