Don't be so quick to make assumptions. Inter fully deserved those two away goals in Amsterdam, but they were lucky to get them, who is to say that Ajax won't score two at the San Siro? Villarreal have also proven to be a formidable opponent to top clubs in the past and will not at all roll over to Inter Milan. Who expected PSV, Porto or even Bayer Leverkusen a couple years back to go as far as they did in the Champions League? No one really, so maybe Villarreal is that type of surprise team this year.
xandru
why where Inter lucky in getting the 2 goals in Amsterdam?? Pizarro and Figo made the difference in the 2nd half. I dont know how you can say that Cruz's goal is lucky, such a great team goal like that..
rado907
inter is a better team than ajax (no offense to ajax fans) - it was no luck that got them the two goals in amsterdam.
tomorrow i expect a solid inter win.

and judging by the quarter finals, we might well see the 3 italian grands on the semi finals again.
xandru
Great game by Inter especially by Materazzi who headed every ball away. Wome was again surprisingly good. Adriano back to his form (only bad thing is he missed the pernalty sad.gif )

Martins and Stankovic didnt impress me,althouh grabbing the goal himself.

thanks Inter, 3 italian in quarters!
Ese Vato
Wome played? I haven't seen him play. Anyways, good game by mostly all the players. Adriano looked quite good again. Hope he plays even better on his next games.

I didn't like Stankovic either, somehow he was bad.

Gonna Change Topic title to Inter v Villreal bigsmile.gif

Wow! It was a pretty good game. And I hope they will make a good game against Villareal. BUT they are a very strong team. Yes, sure, I can hear you all. Villawho? But they play very good football if they are in a good mood. So I would say I am glad we don´t have to face Juve or Milan, but still it might or better say it will be a tough game.
bob dylan
So is Italy the strongest league now that there are three teams representing them in the CL?

*Cue rolling of eyes here*

Re-opened in appropriate forum. wink.gif

Artmedia - Rangers - Porto - Ajax - Villareal....

I thought Inter was playing in the Champions League.
sandesh
Snide comments by a juve supporter.. Life never changes..

For all your superiority, you guys sneaked through a lucky goal against bremen as well.
ramz
And just where did anyone speak about superiority? I sure didn't...

Fact is that with the kind of luck Inter has had in the draws it's been a really easy tournament for them so far, and I can't see how anyone could deny that. Getting all the way to the final four without breaking a sweat like this is frankly ridiculous.
Juventino Sempre
I hope Tacchinardi scores the lone goal for Villareal to eliminate Inter. How great would that be? wink.gif

Right, let's analyze things a little, shall we?

I'm sure you'll agree that the strongest team Inter will face up until the quarter finals is Villareal, right?
Villareal is currently in SEVENTH PLACE in La Liga, miles behind Barca. Considering that the other 4 teams Inter have faced so far are all objectively weaker than the boys from Spain I think it's pretty obvious you've had it really easy so far.

I'm not making snide comments, it's just the truth that's staring you in the face. smile.gif
NY State Of Mind.
This is the most south american match up of the year in europe.
Sir Helsy
hahahahah....yeah...never noticed that before...well pointed out!
forzajuve85
It will be like an Argentinian national team training match.
Juanito™
Both teams come off a loss before their meeting this week. I still think Inter have a strong chance of winning though.

We got the lucky draw, you got the lucky goals. Luck all around. laugh.gif
Sir Helsy
hahahahahaha.....yh guess thats true....but still juve showed spirit by getting were they are....same with villarreal.....small club led by a MASTER(#8).....hope they do well......we'll be waiting wink.gif
Cristiano!!!!
i have not played these teams in a fifa season so do not mind who goes through

i think the first leg at san siro will be 1-2 to villarreal

the second leg will be 2-3 to inter

inter go through on away goals smile.gif
Xyrus
Honestly, I doubt we'll win in the San Siro. I won't make an honest prediction about the outcome because otherwise I will get a really bad feeling that we're going out this round. I would be ecstatic if we got a draw in Milan but scored an away goal or two.

Luckily it's on ESPN2 tomorrow so I'll be watching it on a big TV with a bunch of friends. It's gonna be awesome...

And Riquelme is SO much better than Verón. bigsmile.gif
Swifty
The game is on ESPN2 so i guess i'll be watching it. I hope Inter step it up and not make it boring. I kind of want Inter to win because if we progress past Juventus, then we'll be underdogs again. The team can perform a lot better that way. I wouldn't mind Villareal causing an upset though seeing how they have quality players such as Riquelme and Forlan.

Is the first leg at San Siro or at Villareal?
Regis
inter vs villarreal is one of the most awaited match of the week
it may seem like the match between two argentine training teams but it is more than that
it is mainly between two of the world's most dazzling playmakers from argentina, riqquelme and veron
whoever wins, he will have the upper hand over the other. it is also a huge opportunity for veron to show pakermen that he is capable of doing the job too

PLAYERS TO WATCH (from www.goal.com )

Juan Sebastian Veron (Inter): The heart of Inter’s mid-field must be beating pretty fast in anticipation of tomorrow night’s showdown. With Figo out and Adriano a doubtful starter due to his lacklustre form, the burden will fall on the shoulders of the former Lazio and Manchester United star. Seeing his fellow countryman Riquelme on the other side will surely be an extra motivation for Seba to outshine the latter and prove Pekerman wrong as to who is the better of the two dazzling playmakers.

Juan Roman Riquelme (Villarreal): The man who has taken over the reigns from Veron in the National Team will recognise this as a golden opportunity to rub salt into his compatriot’s wounds by stealing the thunder from Seba in front of the Meazza faithful. A contest within a contest.

this match will also be between:
Zanetti vs Sorin
Recoba vs Forlan
and it would be interesting to see how samuel can handle riquelme

Ayala plays for Valencia mate, you're probably thinking of someone else.

The game's at San Siro. If I can't find a good stream for Lyon-Milan then I'll end up watching this one on ESPN2.

For the record, I'd like to see Villarreal advance.
MUIE
i bet on a tie.... 1-1 will be the final score wink.gif
Juanito™
wow! Forlan with the quick goal for Villarreal. 1-0

edit: Adriano just scores the equalizer minutes later.
Flaming-o
where's figo?!!?!?!?
recoba almost had an amazing goal

One of these teams will play Arsenal. I want Inter Milan.
Juanito™
Martins with the second goal for Inter Milan. 2-1! Its still an open game though. I predict a 2-2 final.
ze_89_us
Come on Villareal.
I really think they can do this.

Inter thus far have been playing better than Juve in Europe.
.Pep Guardiola.
2-1 at the San Siro. Villareal got their away goal and have a great chance to put Inter away at El Madrigal.
Xyrus
I'm pleased with the result. Pellegrini started Arzo and Calleja, and played Cazorla, which is just a small indication of how rocked we were by the suspensions of Tacchi, Josico, and Arruabarrena.

And splat.gif does anyone know what happened to Senna?!?!?! Why the hell was he bleeding so profusely from his groin? And he was still playing on normally! It probably pained me more by having to watch him endure that than the injury itself pained him.

I've gotta see a video of that injury lol.

I think I saw it towards the beginning of the game as just a small red spot on the front of his shorts.

Towards the end, there was A LOT of blood saturating the front and back groin sections of his shorts. It didn't seem to inhibit him and he didn't seem to care.

I thought to myself, "this isn't womens football is it?" offtopic2.gif

Anybody heard/read any details? That was kinda bizarre
PazzaInter
Inter have the slight advantage going through to the Semi Finals, im confident they will go through, Too bad about Juve though laugh.gif
Giacinto Facchetti.
truthfully did inter deserve anything less than a win? no, plus we should have added alot more goals to the equation to end the tie, looks like we'll have to end it in spain cheers1.gif

nice to see adriano on the score sheet again whistling.gif
Felipão
exciting game I enjoyed it and Inter were the better team for large portions of the play. However I think Villareal will play brilliantly in Spain and snatch the win smile.gif.
sandesh
For everyone saying that this was the least interesting match, it was a slap to the face. The game was awesome with chances all around and good football on show.
Darunia
It was a pretty good game.. although the first two goals were both from horrible defence =/
Mané Garrincha
Arruabarrena scores for Villarreal, if it stays like this, the 'Yellow Submarine' will og through on away goals.
Tozz
that was feckin' disgusting, even from Materazzzzzi!.. feck that guy should get banned for rest of his carreer
Mané Garrincha
Villarreal are pissing all over Inter.
