Yeah lucky win for the Germans, it seemed that USA dominated the game and could've easily taken a win from the match, rather than going to the lottery that is a penalty shootout. It's the first time the USA haven't won the Algarve Cup for 3 years, but this was arguably their best squad in the competition.

The USA look much more like the world beaters they should now and this performance against World Cup holders Germany proves they really are going to be a force to be reckoned with for the 2007 global competition. Leslie Osbourne looks a great versatile midfielder for the States, and she could be a key figure in bringing to the WC back to where many believe it should be.

The Germans have lost the potency of the 2006 season but young striker Anja Mittag looks a great prospect for the future. She could be the player to watch on the world scene in the coming years.
