I quit back when I was in grade 9(im in grade 12 now) for 2 and a half years because I was sick of practicing 4 times a week and playing 1-2 games a week. I never had time to hang out with my friends in my neighbourhood. Hanging out usually include drinking, doing drugs, and chasing girls. And yes I do know that I am the biggest retard ever for quitting to do some dumbass shit. I just started playing again 1 and half years ago and I can honestly say that quitting is one of my biggest regrets because i missed out on the most important time for developing your skills as you grow and gain better coordination and balance. I have been able to become better than everyone once again but that is at the price of practicing almost 6-8 hours a day by myself over the summer. I missed out on a lot of practice time and i was able to catch up but I just cant help but think of how good I could have been if I stuck to it. I want to know has ne1 else ever quit playing and for why?

yea i quit one time. during my 8th grade year i was not having fun at all playing football. i was winning games and scoring goals but my passion was gone. that summer before my 9th grade year. i watched the world cup and was like i have to get back playing. my passion was restored.

Mate. I've been through about 4, half an year, injuries. That's 2 years without playing football. I've stuck with it, because I love it. Sure, getting wasted and smackin up some bitches is the shit, but sometimes you gotta do what you love more than what you like. I've never quit, but I WAS thinking about it when I was just not playing for the passion but just to prove to people I was good, which is just against my ethics.

i quit to play american football, and i would still play if all the strategies wasn't dumb and i play soccer cause you can kick people and they don't do anything to fight back
it's like karate versus an inanimate object

Obviously your not commited to the game because if you truly love football you wouldnt care how much times you train or play. you probably suck anyways so just quit for life

no man, it was just that i needed time away from it. It was like a relationship that got sour, you know what I mean? My passion has been rekindled after i started playing around with my old soccer friends. And if i wasnt dedicated to it, then would I have practically gave up my entire summer to train by myselfe about 6-8 hrs a day? I dont care if you think I suck, even though I can tangle your feet anyday.

no need for personal attacks..not everyone who truly loves football can play it, people may need to work to make ends meet or aren't as fortunate as most people.
theres heaps of people out there that would love to play but just cant for other reasons that is more important in their life (like i said with people working to earn money to make a living)

Agreeing with Kink here - my week just isn't the same if I haven't touched a football at some point... preferably at least more than once!
But basically, if there's ever a point where I don't love being out on the pitch... when i'm just not enjoying myself, maybe it's at that point that i'll quit the game. If you don't love the game, you're not going to play with conviction and up to the standards you should be aiming for. But I never see that happening to me in the near or far future... I love this game too much for that.

I stopped for a year when I was 17. Suffered the infamus hamstring pull. Took about a year before I could sprint w.o spazing out. I'm still not as quick as I was before and I lost some flexability but hey i'm trying!
