Ajax midfielder Wesley Sneijder admits he is flattered by interest from Serie A giants Milan in his services.
"I'm flattered by this interest," he told Corriere dello Sport.
"Milan are a fantastic club with players of international value, but, until there is something concrete, I can't say more about this.
"I think I'm ready to play in a big club but it's not me who has to decide this.

Doesn't he play central midfield role for Ajax, similar to Kaka's role at AC Milan??

Mar 27 2006, 06:26 PM
He either plays left or right midfielder in a 4-3-3 formation with a CDM or he plays as "10".
But this is just a rumour. He aint leaving this summer. He renewed his contract till 2010 afaik and has the promise from the club that when Ajax plays with a 10 next season, and he doesn't do anything crazy, he is the first man for the 10 position. Besides, he still has much to learn. This is the first season he has been able to get a pretty decent level consistantly. But he still cannot compete with players like Kaka, Pirlo or Seedorf.
But again, Ajax players always get linked to top Italian teams. This is just a rumour.

Hes an attacking midfielder. And yeah he would play on the position of Kaka cause thats where all his creativity comes out. His qualities are his shot accuracy, freekicks, passing and hes 100% both footed (is he the only player that is can 100% use both feet in the world?)
And no offense to sneijder but he isnt ready for a big club. He barely even played for ajax.
Yeah I meant what euryplm said. Kind of hard to explain the 4-3-3 system

Well, if milan get's him they are doing a great deal then, this player is a very good winger

he's not a winger dude. nor is he ready for milan. but milan should've got pienaar when they had the chance.

Haha are you serious? Pienaar isn't even good enough voor Dortmund.. That guy is just rubbish and still he's got the gutts to be arrogant.
Rumours of Sneijder going to Milan keep comming, it's just weird. I don't see a midget like that facing Italian defenders, that's simply impossible. I can't see why Milan should buy him, are they trying to young-up their squad? That's the only reason as fas as I can see.

Why not? Hes not going to defend the biggest and toughest strikers/midfielders. And he doesnt have to win any air duels. Sneijder is an excellent player and I'm sure hes substitute for kaka.

What

Pienaar rubbish are you kidding. this kid has imense talent i saw him play when he was 17 when he came to the U.S to play in a tournament back when he was a TRANSNET he had the quickest feet i had ever seen in person. going from playing for transnet to Ajax in 2 years says something about him.
and as for the arrogant part when did he ever say something that makes him seem arrogant?

pienaar just needs a fresh start, new team, a coach who actually is a coach, and he'll be back to his good old self.
at ajax, all talents get beaten down and destroyed.

Of course he is good, but he has not been great this season so then it is weird that Milan supposedly have him as nr.1 on their list.

I think Pienaar & Sneijder have both lack of height to establish theirselfs in a league like like. I do think height is a matter in football, it's one of the problems we have right now with all those youth-players. Boakye is a central defender that's 1,70m. Sarpong and Anita are probably great talents but they are being overruled in the midfield because they are too small. Sneijder will get injured every single match in Italy.

I think that it is Okay to have small players, I mean Gattuso and Pirlo are not the tallest of players, however like yourself I much prefer players with Height in midfield, Although I do feel that special attacking midfielders usually lack Height, and therefore a small attacking midfielder surrounded by three big Midfielders is what I would be okay with, but Sneijder is a string puller and considering that they already have Pirlo, I say hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

yes, if you are short you can absolutely not play in the world cup. it is impossible and all short players suck.
i guess thats why Diego Maradona was one of the *worst* players to ever play!
*sarcasm*
ok now honestly, I dont think that height will really make much of a difference in Sneijders career.. but I honestly do think that he is not ready to go to a big club like AC Milan where he will probably just be a sub. He should take the time to establish himself as a player in a small yet good club like Ajax.

With sneyder in the selection it's hard to press the opponent. Sneyder is good but not in atacking

What are you talking about? Sneijder is a dynamic attacking player just watch what he does for Ajax when he is fully fit. I dont think you would want sneijder to sit back and play defence?

sneijder is not an ideal number 10 and he certainly won't push kaka out of milan's starting line-up.

I understand that but i think Milan is way to big of a club for Wesley Sneidjer. I dont doubt his abilities and certainly beleive he can play at a top level club but not the Italian giants....maybe.........Arsenal?

I think it is good for sneijder to move to a bigger club because look what happend to van de vaart. But Milan may be a step too much IMO

The difference is that Van der Vaart had a bad couple of years after he had first shown that he was immensely talented. Sneijder never played better than this year. And how he's playing now still leaves plenty of room for improvement.

Agreed that Italy is not right for him, Which League do you think would suit him best England? Spain?... I think he would play well in England even though it is also a physicall league but he would fit into a good attacking team in the prem like Spurs or Arsenal.

i think he'd probably be suited to england as well. arsenal's a good team. they seem to have sucess with those dwarf type players. but as long as they have fabregas and van persie, sneijder won't be needed.
