I've been a 5 a side player for more than 5 years so my game is based on keeping passes and shots low and hard and I've developed a way of shooting with power with the side of my foot and leaning over the ball when shootings become a habbit. More like hard placement than passing the ball into the net.

But recently ive started playing 11 a side and i find that I cant cross the ball at all. its also a problem when I take corners also. I always get too much curl and not enough height on the ball. because in 5 a side theres no need to make long passes or high passes ive obviously developed this 5 a side technique and lost the ability to play long balls.

anybody got any tips on striking the ball in a way that i can get some height on it. simply leaning back wont work because ive been doing that and still dont get proper crosses in. I can easily beat players for pace on the right wing but then i cant deliver a proper cross so ive started playing left wing and cutting inside.

where should i be hitting the ball and what techniques do you guys use to whip crosses in with less free kick type curl that dips and more power and height.

cheers

you probably kick in the centre of the ball.. for height kick the ball a little below the centre(of the ball) and remember to lean ur body back.. that gives height. Dont hit it hard, hit it calmly, body leaned back, foot below the center of the ball...
now go practice..

Hit it below the center of the ball and instead of planting your foot right next to the ball plant a little behind the ball.

can you get it above head height? if so you dont want it too much higher, balls whipped in with curl and pace is far more dangerous than a loopy ball which most of the time would be catching practice for the keeper

but if you have trouble getting it above head height, then as deepprpl21 said, have your balancing foot placed just behind the ball

bassicaly hit the ball below the ecuator and lean back, dont hit it with much power, just relax and lean back.

you also have to practice this

Be like fat Joe and lean back and hit below the center of the ball.
