My god that Croatia game was unreal. I had given up on their sorry asses Then they got my hopes up, I thought Beckham was gonna be a hero again, but not to be. Really shocking as they had so many chances(thanks Israel) and had in their hands Wednesday. Very sad they aren't going, but maybe its for the best. Maybe this will lead to the kind of reform we all know is needed.

Anyways, did you guys here about the singer botching the Croatian anthem?

Tony Henry belted out a version of the Croat anthem before the 80,000 crowd, but made a blunder at the end.

He should have sung 'Mila kuda si planina' (which roughly means 'You know my dear how we love your mountains').

But he instead sang 'Mila kura si planina' which can be interpreted as 'My dear, my penis is a mountain'.
Now Henry could be one of the few Englishmen at the Euro 2008 finals in Austria and Switzerland as Croatian fans adopt him as a lucky omen.

They believe his mistake relaxed their chuckling players, who scored an early goal in the 3-2 win that put Croatia top of the group and knocked out England.

The singer, who hails from St Albans in Hertfordshire but now lives in Inverness, Scotland, has performed at stadiums around the world.

He was once known as the Voice of Arsenal after Gunners fans were impressed with his rendition of Abide with Me before the FA Cup final in 2003 at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.

Henry came unstuck when he sung Lijepa Nasa Domovino (Our Beautiful Homeland) at a rain-swept Wembley on Wednesday night.

"I can't even defend myself at the end of the day. It was apparently the last line on the second verse which I made the mistake on," he told BBC Radio 5 Live.

"Coming to Wembley and the stadium, it must have got to me, is all I can say.

"It was the last thing that I would intentionally do, and all I can say is if I have offended any Croatians, then they have my deepest apologies."

The Croatians have invited him to sing at Euro 2008

Henry's agent Douglas Gillespie
On the contrary, Henry is becoming a cult hero in Croatia, but denies he played a part in England's exit.

"I can't take the blame for that. The last thing I would do is brag about my parts like that - especially to make it so public," said Henry.

BBC TV presenter Adrian Chiles, whose mother is Croatian, acknowledged the language could pose problems.

"As a speaker of poor Croatian, I have a proud record of getting things calamitously wrong," said the Match of the Day 2 host.

"My personal best was telling a campsite owner that I had a small rat (mali stakor) rather than small tent (mali shator). However, Tony's put all my lifetime's efforts into the shade now."

Zeljka Tomljenovic, secretary of the British-Croatian Society, added: "I don't envy the guy at all because the pronunciation is so difficult.

"He had a big challenge, to sing the national anthem in a language he knows, I assume, nothing about."

Henry's agent Douglas Gillespie said it was a genuine mistake, but admitted the publicity could boost his career.

"He's been given the lyrics correctly, but he has enough trouble with English, never mind Croatian," joked Gillespie.

"There were 80,000 people in the crowd and millions of people watching. It was just the pressure of the moment.

"He did sing it very well and made a very, very small mistake for someone doing his best and singing in a language that is alien to him. If you've ever tried to speak Croatian, it's very difficult.

"The Croatians think it's great, and they've invited him to come over and sing at Euro 2008, and asked if he will be their mascot."

Hey guys, haven't been here in a while. Glad to see some old names still posting away and keeping the TT and the Adidas topic alive and well! I just thought I would stop by and fill you all in about me, haha. As some of you may know, I had been having problems with my legs. Right before my school season started, I went to the doctor about them and it turned out I have a conditional called Compartment Syndrome in both legs, in the muscles just the outside of the skin called the tibialis anteriors. Basically, the muscles casing is not big enough for my actual muscles (haha yeah, I am HUGE), but when I run, I can feel the pressure building up in my legs and it hurts so bad. Sometimes there was such a pressure buildup that the blood could not get through to my feet and my feet would fall asleep in the middle of the game. I'm sure if you searched it on Google, you would be able to find out more about it if you really care about me, haha. Through this pain, my school team and I went to playoffs but lost in the second round to a very skilled team. I was sad to say I could not perform to my fullest potential throughout the season, but was still elected to the All-Section team as a Sophomore at the age of 15, which I am very proud of. There was always the risk of getting more badly injured and my muscles actually dying if the pressure in my legs was too high. Gladly, this never happened. So just a little over a week ago, I have surgery on both legs to hopefully rid of my Compartment Syndrome forever. I am still in some pain and I just started therapy for my legs a few days ago. I am finally beginning to walk like a human again and not a penguin, haha. In a few months, I hope to be back and ready to run. I am not yet sure if I will return to my Cup team for the Spring season. But I just thought I would let you all know how my life is going, and check up on the SP community. Good to see kac and Crofty still running the show around here. You guys do a fine job. By the way, does Nipples still come around anymore?

Good to see you FF. Hope your legs get healed properly. Nipples is no longer a G Mod and doesn't comeon as he is currently travelling all over the world I believe.

^Mmmm, I remember him saying that, now. Oh well, he is probably doing better than me, haha. Thanks for your concern for me though. Keep up the good work!

Good luck with the surgery man. Hopefully you can get rid of that crap and get into club for the spring. Congrats on the all-selection(guessing its something like all-conference) as a sophomore really a great accomplishment. Great to hear you had a nice season as when we last talked you weren't even sure if you could play this fall. Hope every thing goes well for you thumbsup.gif

btw what do you think of the .8s bigsmile.gif
57121K312_jc
nice FF its weird how u have ur season in the fall to me because we have it in the spring, its kinda weird, and good job on the all section, i got an honorable mention my sophmore year..hope you get better

My highschool season is in the fall too.

Thanks everyone for the words of encouragement. Fun to see when I open one thread and still see Nanny ranting about something or other, haha.

Brian: Yeah, sorry, I haven't had much time for anything, including YIM. I'll try to get on occasionally and have a chat; I have just been so busy. About the .8s and boots in general: sorry to say this, but over these months I have kind of lost interest in boots all together. Sure I can tell you all about Adidas boots and stuff still, but now it just seems useless to keep buying them when it's not really necessary. All season, even on grass, I used my a3 F50+ and they are still in fairly good shape. That's pretty good for having either a practice or game everyday of the week except Sunday for more than 2 months. It doesn't seem as though my feet will be growing any more either. Stuck at 6.5 it seems =). I still have my Tunits and will still probably use them, but since most of my high school season took place on astroturf, I really had no need for them. I would really like to beg my parents to take me to the nearest Adidas Store in Grove City to hopefully find a good deal on some old versions of F50s and some sneakers as well. Anyway, if you really want my .8 opinion, the 3 stripes going around the front of the upper is really unattractive to me, and the transparent heel is really creative from Adidas.

cg: Yeah, I was looking forward to meeting you this season. Who knows though? Maybe I will have a fast recovery and play this season. We have a pretty strong squad this season though, and we know each other pretty well, so count on a beatdown, just like last season, hahaha. Just kidding.

I go to the doctor to get my staples out tomorrow, so I am looking forward to that. Hopefully I can milk out a few more days of missing school, as Hell starts back up again on Tuesday, haha. I really hate school. Nothing good ever comes out of it. =P
crzygrmn
Blake, I was just at the Grove City Adidas store. The only tunit stuff they have are blue .6's that are going for about 90-100. So yeah nothing amazing, although they do have some DB sg abs for about 100 also.
Predator 23
I was just at the Myrtle Beach Adidas outlet and was very disappointed. They only had XL Mexico and Spain jerseys and no high end boots. Just F10s and absolusions in size like 13. Also, I was just shocked to see they were selling Copas for $99. I've never seen them for a penny more than $89 any wear.

Blake fair enough, don't like them much at all. Cool you guys get to play on turf most of the time, we've just played on it once.
crzygrmn
Were the spain and mexico jerseys the new or the old ones.
Footfield119
Ahhh thanks, cg. I don't get my hopes up on any high end stuff when I go to Adidas stores. But they do usually have some good sneakers, hopefully with shocks or lace covers, haha. And Brian, the Tanger Outlets or something at Myrtle Beach is actually where I bought my a3 Punjab F50+ and I love them to death. Got them for $25! Bargain!!!

Yea when I was their last time, they had tons of Pulses and jerseys. I got Avieros for $40 and loved em. Don't know what the deal was. I was thinking I was gonna be there at the perfect time for deals on Abs, .7s, and the WC jerseys. thumbsdownsmileyanim.gif

nope like a 5 hour drive, I was on vacation there for turkey day
MackemAB
turkey day LOL, Yeh ive kinda had to give up on going to my local outlet as i have spent to much money on boots. lately and shoes.
crzygrmn
Yeah sadly around where I live the stock at the nike and adidas shops is laughable. Although surprisingly the nike store had italy vapors for 80, but other than that absolutely nothing.
MackemAB
the local nike shop here had vap3 i 3 colours, lasers in 2 colours for $40 but they went quick, they do have good stock, but its inconsistant.
crzygrmn
Was it some kind of sale or did the shop just feel like giving the boots away laugh.gif
MackemAB
i think it was an australia wide sale at nike shops. its still on but they only have supremacies sg left.

right my friend who i just showed the new laser colours too, said they are horrible.

i showed him the f50.8s he said he likes them alot

i showed him the laser 2's he said they are really nice.

is this guy screwed in the head or wat laugh.gif
Predator 23
Yup a view like that is a bit twisted. I actually really like the yellow vamps, but gah am I beginning to hate the F50.8 as a whole with a passion. I might get the green .7s when they go on sale to make way for those transparent jokes.

And I just got FM08, and Shane you're right it's quite addicting. Never knew it was so complicated though.....a lot to learn.
crzygrmn
Yeah ive never been so disappointed with a boot that i thought looked good on paper but looks horrible in real life. Also, for anyone that has had the supremacy's are they more of a wide-fitting or slim boot?
