I voted for Buffon. I was just wondering what the hell Valdes and Lehman are doing on that list? My favourite keeper is Canizares followed by Reina.

Lehmann's been in fabulous form in the past few months. Just set the record for the most consecutive games without conceding a goal in the CL and since I haven't seen the others play too often, I voted for him. Hopefully he earns that number 1 shirt in Germany this summer over Khan-he absolutely deserves it.

I know his been in good form over the last while but by no means does that make him the best keeper. He isn't better than any of the other keepers on that list except for Valdes. Its pretty obvious that he wants that first German place and he playing himself into form. The keeper in best current form in Casillas and the best keeper on the list is argurably Buffon, but you could argue towards other keepers. Lehman is no one.

hmmm....the only good save lehmann's made recently was the one against raul at higburry, when raul took the second shot after it boucned off the post, and lehmann just got a finger tip to it....gtw which of these do u think will perform well at the world cup...in my opinion Buffon has the best chance

Although I'm a bit surprised he hasn't been mentioned, but understandable due to the League he plays in, Coupet is probably the most in-form goalkeeper in Europe at the moment, and at least for me, the best in the world. I'm lucky that I can catch French league games.. Lyon isn't exactly the equivalent of Chelsea in the Premier League, where Cech requires great concentration as he needs to make very few saves (but often crucial) in the game.
Lyon's attacking-minded football often leaves them exposed in the back and Coupet has been just superb; I hope he gets the starting goalkeeper's role for the World Cup.
Other than that, there can be no other than Iker Casillias. Real Madrid are second in 'the most shots on target conceded' in the Primera Liga, but remain second in the League! Casillias is a gutsy player and not many players could handle the pressure of being the goalkeepers of a club like Real Madrid.

1- Bufffon (great quality and extremely consistent)
2- Casillas (will replace Buffon soon)
3- Coupet (he is great talent too)
4- Cech (very solid)
5- Lehmann = Van der Saar (experiences are evrything)

Valdes is crap and nowhere in terms of world class. Reina is miles better.

I'd say its a close thing between buffon and casillas but I would say buffon just if it was based over this season.

I was wondering what kind of a biased idiot would vote for Lehmann... what are him and Valdes even doing on the list, let alone what is Lehmann doing with a vote next to his name.
As has been said, while Casillas is in the best current form buffon is the better goalkeeper. However as the topic states who is the best Goalkeeper ATM my vote goes to Casillas. Most underrated goalie in here is England's number 1 Paul Robinson who doesn't get much credit from abroad.

i just put lehman because i couldnt think of another goal keeper, and also because of arsenals current form...Cleague and EPL
Anyone doubting Lehmann's place on this list obviously hasnt been watching him this season especially the last three months.
That being said its between Casillas and Buffon for the best keeper

Casillas is probably the best, but i think Paul Robinson is also a brilliant goalkeeper and he will impress many people in the world cup.

San Iker without adoubt.
Robinson deserves a honorary mention. His quite uderrated but still a briliant keeper.
One other thing what is Bictor Baldes doing in that list

Forgetting about the fabulous save against Nedved's deflected shot last night-that was CLASS!

Lehman is shit ant tempromental. Theres a saying that you Arsenal fans have to hear. Form comes and goes but class is permanant. Lehmans form is coming, it will be going any second now. He isn't a class keeper. I know that everyone except for Valdes on that list is a better keeper than Lehman. If my favourite keepers Caņizares and Reina were on the list, it wouldn't have influenced my vote. Buffon and Casillas are a mile better than anyone else on that list.
I don't want to get into an arguement but if you think that Lehman deserves to be on the list, you must be crazy. He isn't anywhere near the top keepers in the world. So Lehman deserves to be on a list that Coupet isn't? Coupet is superior to Lehman in every area of keeping. There are plenty of other players which I can't be bothered naming which should be there ahead of Valdes and Lehman.
On Valdes, I think he is really a painfully average keeper that is liable to make a fair share of mistakes. The thing is that he plays for a team which is argurably the best in the world because of this everyone knows him. To be honest if he played for a mediocre team a lot of people wouldn't know of him and of the people that did notice him he'd hardly ever be mentioned. So, his inclusion proves that some people think that the club the player plays for is more important than the player himself.

To be fair the title of the thread is best keeper at the moment and as I said, I don't watch many non-Arsenal games so I really have no idea what kind of form the other keepers are in, but Lehmann to me has been brilliant for the majority of the season. If me thinking that he's class makes me crazy then so be it-I've been labeled that before

i guess i could have putten shay given, considering that Newcastles situation seems to be improving....how oculd buffon have let that goal from fabregas in...from the angle i saw it, it looked like an easy shot to say, as it wasnt very powerful.... its funny how Kahn reportedly one of the best keepers 2-3 yrs ago has no votes....maybe his performance at WC02 finals could have marked his downfall...

Shay Given is better than most of the players on that list.
Casillas is probably the best at the moment though. And he has to get special credit for playing with that defense infront of him. He's the only reason they're anywhere near Barcelona.

It's close between Buffon and Casillas
I dunno why van der Sar is not so rated, he's very good
But i'd pick Buffon because im biased and my catalan blood tells me Casillas gets hit by the ball insteada making saves
Buffon has a much better defence and he manages to stay on his toes
I also have to defend Valdes, i think people judge his miskicks instead of his goalkeeping
Oh no!!!, not really ..people also judge the poor judgements he has for the crosses
So i guess it's hard to defend Valdes.....go 'head and take him off the list

Buffons' performaces have saved Juventus lately thats for sure.
Okey dokey, so, no Given yet Victor Valdes, Kahn and Robinson are on the list?
Given makes at least two world class saves every game. I can't remember a goal he has conceded that hasn't been the fault of his defenders.
