Well lately I was told by a manager I am good enough to play for my towns under 18s, and im only 14. Problem is I don't play for a team at the moment as I am always scared to join a team but I really want to try out my skills.

Is there any way you think I can actually overcome my fear and join a club?

Hope that made sense.

Just hop in and play.

You could also find some pickup games to play in.

I agree, what's the point in living with fear this entire time?? Just jump into it head first and see how it turns out. No harm in trying and, although it sounds silly to say, you really don't have anything to lose. If anything, you gain knowledge about what you NEED to be doing if you do get cut, and if you make it, the experienced gained from being a younger player will help you a ton.

Cheers guys, I think I'm going to join tommorow cause thats when trainings on. Hopefully I will get into my towns under 18s like I was told, but first I want to see how I go. Cheers

mate to be honest you shouldnt just jump into an Under 18 team if you're only 14... you'll find it too hard and wont want to play, because the other boys will be more faster, fitter, stronger etc than you...let yourself develope and join your own age group...

couple of years back when I was under 13's my manager sometimes let me train with the 15's because he felt I was good enough...then after enough training sessions and when he felt I was ready he started giving me games for the 15's...

you need to let your body grow though...and also if you're good enough for Under 18's....why dont you just shine at Under 14's and get picked up by a scout?wink.gif

I used to play for the u-13s but train with the u-16s aswell as the u11s to get better and occasionsly played for the u16s but I found I would beat a player only to get taken out..it's ok when you're younger but when you're playing with kids getting to be adults they are more competitive and hack...I suggest the oldest age you play for is u16's dude

i completely agree, you won't improve if you don't enjoy yourself. yet at the same time you won't improve unless your playing with better or more experienced players. i say give the under 18s a go but if you find yourself resenting it go for a younger age group
