Hey guys. I want to know if you can help me pick a boot for me. I'm a midfielder, playmaker to be exact and I want to buy a boot for the best possible first/touch, pass and shoot accuracy. My budget is 140-150 US$.
I was thinking of the Legends cause they drive me crazy, I love them, altough I never played with one of those. A currently have 60$ Total 90III non AirZoom, and these are the most expensive boots I have ever played with, so now I want to kick it into high gear. What do you guys think ?

well you cant go wrong with legends ... great boots and pretty cheap ... but if i would be a playmaker i would go for soma absolutes ... even greater boot but pretty expensive

I can't speak for everyone but speaking for myself, no boot can specifically help me with a position. Comfort is the ultimate thing I look for in boots. I have Adidas F50+'s and they are not bad but they can become extremely uncomfortable for me sometimes. I have found the best boot for my overall play is definitly the Total 90 III. I have two pairs of astro turf versions but I don't have any boots of them, so I need to get some. These astros are class. They are comfortable and although many people think they are for bulky type players with no skill, they certainly aren't. I have pulled off the most skill with this boot in my entire footballing life. Also, the shooting you can get from the shoes are class. Long range or short range, it does both so well. As long as the boot version is as good as the astro version, I will be buying myself a pair of them soon.
Honestly though, I don't think any boot enhances a player's game. The best boots just allow you to perform at your optimum. They don't give you more skill or pace or whatever. However, some boots can decrease the level of your game if you feel uncomfortable for example, you won't run as fast, or turn as quickly.
So mate my advice to you is as long as you are comfortable in your boots and you feel you are playing well in them, don't change. Try on some Legends, see how you feel in them. I prefer the Total 90 III's though because I am not a fan of boots with tongues coming down over the laces.
Hope it helped.

well i have legends and absolutes and there ok but dont compare to my tunits for comfort and you can get such a clean strike from them aswel and so easy to clean just rub a damp cloth on them and there sparkly clean but if not tunits then definatly absolutes i dont really like my legends to heavy and bulky for me

Heavy??????? it's your feet mate, if Ronnie and JC can bust their moves so fast in them do you think they are that heavy. Anyway I've got R10's, they are absolutely awesome, so comfy and beautiful. The best thing about them is that passes are so easy in them, I'm a number 10 (a playmaker) and I can tell you they are awesome for playmaking, F50's I find let too much water in and are a bitch to clean, absolutes in my mind are also not as good (i've got the gold/whites), however vapor III's are a really nice boot for being a number 10, very light and not bad for passing.

Thanks alot for the replys guys. I'm getting closer and closer to choosing the Legends. First of all because they're comfy, and kangaroo leather. And by the way, if it's K leather, do the boots have a smaller life time ? Cause I think that the AZT90 III have the advantice of having a longer life because of the synthetic material, but a poorer touch.
Oh yeah, and another thing. I'm the teams freekick taker, and I want to know if adidas/nike, abs/legends have an advantice at freekicks. Cause I personaly don't think so. What do you guys think ?

Get Legends best boot out there for passing and touch ( 10's job)
F-50+ worst boots ive ever had durability, and touch suck.
i dont even whant to get in to comfort.
Get Legends

im get R10's

Apr 7 2006, 02:03 PM
And one more thing. R10's altough they're white/gold they're still K leather right? And if they get dirty, ar they easy/safe to clean ? And is that gold paint reisistant, I mean does it last, or does it wash away quite fast ? Cause they're really good looking and I may give up the white and black legends for R10's.

and to your post, stupid as hell, i have to say (like i said already a thousand times before) it doesnt matter which boots you wear to be a playmaker... omg, why does nobody get that in his brain?!
and to you silly comment that Ronnie makes his moves fast because of his boots than your a dude who lives in a dreamworld. if you would give ronnie any other boots, he would do them as fast as now
do you think this few gram-difference matters?!?!?! they would do their moves the same way in every boot you would give them!

one word......NOMIS!
haha im sorry to give you another option but if your the playmaker on your team you will be out on the field the most and that means you will need comfy boots. i have yet to find a pair more comfy than my sparks (little high for you price range but still nomis makes cheaper models). As for touch it makes you feel like you arent wearing cleats at all.
but if you have your heart set on abs or legends id go for legends as they look a lot nicer and are less expensive!!!

well im a play maker and i had the legends for a couple of matches and now i have the f50+ and for me they are the boots for playmakers. F50+s are comfortable, got a nice first touch, good for shooting and durable so i would recommend you them although thats just one guys opinion so is up to you mate. Legends are not that bad either but out of them both i would go for the f50+

adidas are very good playmaking boots given that they are in your price range. I would have to suggest getting predator pulse's or f50+

Have to agree with you mate, there's no way in hell that some boots are goot for playmaking and other aren't, it's all about the person. Thats like saying if Ronaldinho was to wear AZT90 that he wouldn't be as good a player. In my opinion it's all about comfort, boots thats you don't have to think about when your playing after all boots don't make a player, players make the boot.

Exactly right - boots don't make the player. If you're supposed to be a playmaker, but you can't pass or have a bad touch - boots ain't gonna do a damn thing to help.

well.... if u really like the legends then go for the legends.
boots are not made for a specific style of players.. they're made for everyone to play football.
vapors don't make u run faster and legends won't teach u how to be a playmaker.
for your question, I don't think the gold will come off, it is not somekind of paint painted on the leather to make it gold.
and yes, it is k-leather and safe for u to clean. U don't see white boots losing colour when it's raining. Unless u put some solvent on it.
Don't worry too much, they are top quality boots and Air Legends have a really good reputation.

but im gonna say to them that if i "officially retire!" some of my boots and clean them up to the highest standard that they might see it in there big hearts to let me buy some Loto Zhero Gravity's or R10 Legends!

OK, sorry I minced my words up a bit in my previuos post, I was trying to pack to much into a short space, basically what I was trying to say is yes, a couple of grams really doesn't make a difference, what does is how comfortable you feel when passing, dribbling etc, however when writing my post I misintereperated myself. And really go on the boots which feel comfortvale, aren't a bitch to clean and i spose look good bcause there's no point in buying a pair f boots if you don't like the look of them.

boots won't help you, BUT you should find the best boots that don't affect your play/style of soccer.
I mean, heck, what shoes will make me faster than ronaldo?
I'd suggest legends, or even old-school...copas?

wait wait wait, who am i...?
Oh yea, I have these gold and white boots, and because im the playmaker I have to have the most flashest pair of boots on the field. The make me better because theres this pro who wears it and hes the man. If he didnt have these boots he would be rubbish.
Honestly, if some guy came up to me and said that at one of my trainings with his brandspanking new gold boots, saying that he's the playmaker, therefore implying hes the best player on the pitch.
Go to Brasil or any of the poorer countries. You see kids there playing with boots with their toes sticking out the front! And they play for professional clubs!
My Advice, buy whatever the fuck you want. They wont change you one little bit. Except i may have to tackle you harder because your wearing gold boots and your styling your hair during the game.
And strange how everyones a playmaker here, and everyones number 10. At my club, our first teams playmaker (A professional from Brasil, plays for Atheletico Paranese) wears a $50NZ pair of Pumas he got from a sale. A 19 year old New Zealander, my mate, wears a clapped out old pair of Lotto Ventos. And hes going to a Brasilian Club, and then to America, where he got a soccer scholorship. Just to prove my point.
Boots dont make the player, the player makes the boots.

well if you want to stick out then buy some flashy boots. Oh I can vouch for the hair and the boots. We played some team from Maryland and this kid who was actually decent had his david beckham pulses tongues pulled to the front and personalized with his hair just like db. He got the shit tackled out of him. Then he got a freekick outside the 18 and tried a little beckham curl, omg what a laugher that was. my advice, dont try to stick out too much. Or i'll chop at yer ankles son. I'm going to the Czech Rep. In three days, and i'll walk all the way to Romania! I'm just kidding. I totally agree with b3ans. Buy whatever the hell you want.

i often play in the role of playmaker in my team. i would suggest legends, copas or pulses. they are stunning for me i love them. because not amazingly heavy or stupidly light weight like vapors. because you also need a sturdy strong boot for tackling because in midfield it is inevitable that you may be involved in hard tackles.

I agree with Ken here, everyone seems to be brainwashed by the commercials they see on TV. People think that boots are what makes the player, in which case if Ronaldinho had a cheap $10 pair, he should not even play soccer. Seriously, there are no boots set for positions, just buy what is the most comfortable for your feet. If they are a $10 pair, then so be it. Let your feet do the talking!
