MAΣΣAΛIA
It's the end of the season, and time for soccerpulse to vote for his TEAM OF THE YEAR with players featuring in England, Spain, Portugal, Italy, France, Germany, Netherlands...

I have taken the initiative to create 3 topics each containing 3 polls, where you will vote for the best :
• Goalkeeper
• Left back
• Right back
• Central defender
• Central midfielder
• Central attacking midfielder/Playmaker
• Left winger/Forward
• Right winger/Forward
• Striker

Now, there are things you need to know :
- You will have exactly 4 weeks to vote.
- There will be two teams of the year, depending on the results : either a 4-4-2 or/and a 4-3-3.
Let me explain :
> In a 4-4-2 formation, the best right back and left back will be chosen, then the 2 best centre back.
The best right winger and best left winger will be chosen, then the two best central midfielder.
As for the strikers, the two best will be chosen.
> In a 4-3-3 formation, it will be the same for the defense, but only one striker will be chosen, and the best left forward and right forward. As for the midfield, there will be one playmaker, and two central midfielders.
- One player can be in different position, like Zambrotta, Ribery and Gallas for eg. who all played different position this year. If you vote for Zambrotta in right back for eg. you can't vote for him in left back.
- YOU CAN ONLY VOTE TAKING IN ACCOUNT THE 2005/2006 PERFORMANCE OF THE PLAYER

By consenting to these terms, you will take the responsibility to chose a 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 formation and therefore be aware of the players you have to pick. For eg. if you chose a 4-4-2 formation, you can't pick Ronaldinho, cause he isn't a winger, a central midfielder or a striker.
I advise you to look to all your options, especially with the playmaker/forward poll. For eg. if Ronaldinho is your ultimate nº1 playmaker, but that you would really like to also have Riquelme in your team, you can vote for Riquelme as playmaker, and vote for Ronaldinho as left forward (which is where he usually plays).

Links to the two other topics :
Topic 2 - Central defender + midfielder + playmaker
Topic 3 - Left winger/Forward + Right winger/Forward + Striker
Dirk Gently
Given - kept Newcastle in it until Souness went
Maldini - imho a contender for greatest defender of all time
Zambrotta - A sensation, and certainly a men amongst boys there (Eboue, Cicinho are too young) and Neville, who would have taken it, is showing his age these days.

Terry - Ball is magnetised to his head in both areas
Gerrard - Just awesome. Would play in any team in the world right now as first choice.
Ronaldinho - Self Evident.

Read my first post.
Not everybody will vote for Terry, so the two defenders with the most vote are the two central defenders thumbsup.gif

Simao
Joe Cole
The maestro - Henry

The point is to vote dry.gif
You voted Simao, so why Simao hasn't got any vote in the poll ?

By the way, I don't understand people voting for Robben. Of course he's class. But is a Ronaldinho (CAM) - Robben (LF) combination better than a Riquelme (CAM) - Ronaldinho (LF) combination ? Please people, consider your options.
And I think Van der Vaart and Ribery has been better this season as left forward than Robben, but it's just my opinion, and I don't tell you to vote for Riquelme, it's just an example to show you your options thumbsup.gif

Why is Luis Garcia on the list???
MAΣΣAΛIA
Well he's got to be there...
I personally don't like him much, but he was in the UEFA.com Team of the Year, and he's quite good, no ?
Wozny_AFC
Ronaldinho- One of the best player in the world...Amazing skill biggrin.gif
C. Ronaldo.......fast and very good skill
Thierry HENRY- Perfect striker....VERY FAST....score more goals.....
energy41
Okay, my votes are:

van der Vaart - for his outstanding first season with Hamburg
Luis Garcia - for having a good season and to be a goal treat in the team of the season
Samuel Eto'o - quality season and to show him the deserved respect for being on his way to win the spanish league with Barca
energy41
Reina - for keeping his goal clean that often with Liverpool
Atouba - almost ever present for Hamburg and the improved defence since he arrived there speaks for itself
Finnan - for being that consistent
energy41
Carragher
Makelele
- both unsung hero's who do very good jobs
van der Vaart - for being a big reason of Hamburg's outstanding season
Swifty
How come Kolo Toure is not on the list? One of the best defenders this season and the key for Arsenal to have the best defensive record in CL history.
Swifty
Ummm...how come Lehmann is not on the list?

I know what you mean, because I thought the same.
But I don't think eveybody watches every league. Personally I watch Chelsea, Barcelona and Marseille's every game + the Premiership highlights for every game + some Bundesliga, French League and Serie A, but I don't think that is the case for everyone. Most of the people watch the Premierleague, and just watch the results for all the polls, it's really Premierleague biased. We can't do anything about it. So we got to put big names in the polls, if not people don't know the player.
And Aoutba and Maldini deserve to be in there. Robery Carlos has been shit, but I still put him. Julio Cesar has been outstanding during Toldo's abscence.
I've tought about Riise, but has he really been good ? For Belleti, I don't agree much with you, has been good but not outstanding. And for Gio, no way, he didn't even play 60% of Barca's game.
Pawelec
Ronaldinho
Messi
Klaas-Jan Huntelaar (really it was Eto'o, but I know that Eto'o get many votes so voted for not so well-known player biggrin.gif)
Pawelec
Puyol
Deco
Ronaldinho

I think Léo should be on the left-backs list, he's been amazing throughout the whole year, best left-back in the Portuguese League this year, I can assure he was better this year than players like Paulo Maldini and William Gallas.

And I'm not saying this because I support Benfica.
MAΣΣAΛIA
I'm surprised Sheva and Trezeguet haven't got any votes.
Aussie-Red
Terry
Gerrard
van der Vaart
MAΣΣAΛIA
Keep voting everybody !

There are 7 people on this polls that haven't voted in the Wingers/Striker polls and 10 people that haven't voted in the Keeper/Full back polls... When you vote, please vote for all position !

Guess what ? doh.gif

Ronaldo isn't even in the Top 3 scorers in La Liga this year...

That says it all.
MattGreeny
How come Pascal Chimbonda got in the EPL team of the year but doesnt make it into this vote???

Because he plays for Wigan perhaps??? g.gif

ANd how the hell do you have Gary Neville and Steve Finnan in there?!?!?! Neville has been dump this year!
Liverpoolno1
Steve Finnan has been better than Chimbonda this year and should've easily been right back of the EPL team. Im surprised a Wigan fan would stand up for that mercenary.

Apart from that MAΣΣAΛIA can't offer 20 players for any positions, this would be too much and wouldn't make too much sense.
He can't include everyone that is suggested, he can't make everyone happy with the options.
There is definately no need to take the piss because Chimbonda isn't in the poll who wouldn't have got too many votes anyway I suppose. Even Atouba, who is a major man in Hamburg's sucess this year has just one vote.

So just slow down fella, and have a relaxed discussion next time rather than getting mad on MAΣΣAΛIA who is just trying to bring some more discussion to the sub-forum which is totally positive.
It might not be perfect, but those threads are an good idea/work anyway by MAΣΣAΛIA thumbsup.gif .
Ryan Babel
Sorry but why is Michael Reiziger in the list..
He played a very very bad season..
also he is a right back not left..

also Khalid Boulahrouz he isnt a right back but a centre defender..

anyway I have choose:
Cech: (Simply the best goalie in the world!)
Left back: Maldini (What can I say he is a Legend!)
Right Back: Zanneti (great right back he is also good at attacking & defending! Shame that Pekerman didnt select him!!)
