Also on a side note, Hearts are having a no bad Pre Season.

Who Cares?

Our pre-season might not be up to a huge standard, but we should come through fighting fit, and pick up form for the 1st Old Firm game of the season at September Weekend
shiftysharp
its good to see n'guessan, mcormack and furman training with the first team.hope fully these boys will get a good run out this season.from what ive heard plg is the kinda guy that will pick a team on performance rather than rep so if you dont pull your weight your out on your ass.i think that is something that has been lacking over the last few seasons.hopefully we may get to see what we all know fanfan is capeaple of,cause to captain psg before coming to us means he aint no slouch.plg may be able to kick start the big guy again.
who knows whats gonna happen.if plg is as good with the players as his past playing staff from lyon have said he could have nando, fanfan, novo, hemdani and namouchi playing like new signings and that puts a whole new slant on the upcoming season.
heres hoping
FlippinEck
if he gets ricksen to play as good as he did not last season but the season before again, I would love it, because he was outstanding. As for fanfan, I thought he was decent, it was just that performance against Falkirk and I think we never saw him much after that. Hemdani has been good in 2nd half of season (obviously injuries played part 1st half) but when he gets to the final 3rd he tends to bottle it... wether he lacks confidence or not i dont know but he had some strong performances
CaptainCarrots
Hemdani is a defensive midfielder, you don't expect Makelele to score 25 goals a season, Makelele is the best in the world as the holding midfielder, and he's not expected to have bottle, as he's not expected to be so far up the pitch

Fanfan played at RB before being scrapped, the man is a centre half and Eck ruined a couple of people, Zura included, by playing them out of position

Hamed Namouchi, at his age now has 2 African Nations, and a World Cup finals under his belt, and is a good player, think of last years CL performances, where he played really well....

Strength in depth with the guys we have there in my opinion
shiftysharp
i read an interview with wee burky and the coming season should see a seriously fit and up for it rangers team.
he was talking up plg's training methods and saying he was feeling fitter by the day,and says le guen goes by the old addage"no pain no gain".
i know im getting a bit ahead of myself but i can see a right good season at home and in europe bigsmile.gif
CaptainCarrots
It's all very well having a team that can last 90 minutes a game for 50 games a season...

It's how they perform on the park, we don't want to be 10 points behind before our better fitness kicks in, we want to be 10 points in front and stretching a lead
F6
Too right burkey says plg's motto is "No pain no gain" he also says that they do sprinting in the mornin ballwork at noon and in the afternoon some practise matches and he feels that every time he trains hes is getting fitter and that the new staff and the dquad are gelling together
Allan.
So he's saying that Mcleish regime was shite tongue.gif

Nah serously, i do believe him, but he has to say that and everyone says that about a new manager at their club.
F6
Yep and to get in their goodbooks
CaptainCarrots
Well, PLG is saying they aren't close to fit enough yet...

Theres also a sand dune at Murray Park that they can use for running, I seen that on the tour, get PLG to run them up that laugh.gif
F6
rangers squad to face linfield

Stefan Klos
Lionel Letizi
Allan McGregor
Alan Hutton
Olivier Bernard
Steven Smith
Julian Rodriguez
Fernando Ricksen
Ian Murray
Jose Pierre-Fanfan
Nacho Novo
Dado Prso
Thomas Buffel
Chris Burke
Bob Malcolm
Brahim Hemdani
Charlie Adam
Kris Boyd
Gavin Rae
Ross McCormack
Dany N'Guesson
Karl Svensson
Barry Ferguson

I think the injure players such as barry and stefan are just for there so the team can bond and gell together as PLG wants them to
FlippinEck
is dado going? cos i heard he was getting a 21 day holiday to rest after world cup or has it been 21 days or will it have been 21 days since croatia got knocked out.. also is sionko going?
F6
Sionko isnt on that list
FlippinEck
i think he should try and offload bernard, we got smith and murray for that position and i think they are more favourable
F6
Who knows maybe PLG can get the bernard that was immense at Sir Bobby Robsons Newcastle
FlippinEck
well it seems jose fanfan is wanted by a few teams in france so that could see him leaving, dunno if we will get any money but hes still got 2 years left on his contract here and says hes willing to fight for a place under le guen
F6
I thought fanfan was a good player eck put him at right back where he was unhappy so maybe a personality clahs wi him and eck . He looked good in his first spl game scored a goal in that one ..ok at the start he didnt look that great but take for example guys like j-rod didnt either but at the end of the season he was one of our better players . I know fanfan is on 17 grand a week but i want PLG to turn him into something
CaptainCarrots
FanFan was wasted by McLeish

If Le Guen wants to keep him good, I can't see much worry, we're a bit light as i can't see him keeping Marvin
shiftysharp
sionko and svensson have been hauled in from their holidays to get ready to fly out to S.Africa at the weekend,as le guen wants them fully integrated with the squad asap.prso namouchi and big marv have been given an extra week as already full squad members
CaptainCarrots
Big Marv is being told to leave anyway...

Hopefully they can get a win against Linfield tomorrow night to set them up nicely
Allan.
IPB Image
Seems like their having a laugh

IPB Image
Looks rather hot down their. I'm sure its all piss for PLG though.

Gers Live Like Kings

From Lindsay Herron in Johannesburg

THE ENTIRE Rangers squad enjoyed some fantastic African hospitality last night when they enjoyed a World Cup feast at the home of director Dave King.

Dave King and Paul Le GuenHugely successful businessman King, who ploughed 20million into Rangers six years ago, wanted to welcome the squad and the new management team and let them watch the Italy v France showdown in comfortable surroundings.

The players really enjoyed their night out at the magnificent house in the swish Johannesburg suburb of Sandton.

King, who is also a wine collector, took Paul Le Guen and his staff down to his remarkable cellar where he insisted that each man select a bottle of his choice.

Sadly for the French contingent in the Ibrox squad the evening ended in heartbreak with the Italians lifting the World Cup on a penalty shoot out.

However, everyone was more than grateful to Dave King for treating them to a superb night.

King said: "I felt it was important to show a bit of Aftrican hospitality and I think it was better that the players were able to watch the final together in peace.Murray, Rae and Burke at Dave King's house

"It's wonderful that the club is here in South Aftrica and I'm hoping that it will help promote Rangers and Scottish football in general.

"It was a pleasure to meet Paul Le Guen for the first time and like everyone else I'm excited about the future."

The Johannesburg-based Rangers director will watch the team in action tomorrow night when Rangers take on local amateur side Kempton Park in a closed door game.

They're also very well looked after by Dave King who invited them round for lunch and to watch the final.
F6
Yeah i saw that he invited PLG and his staff in his wine cellar and told them to pick out a bottle each , nice or what

laugh.gif That actually made me laugh, he looks tiny in that picture.
F6
This is the lineup that Le Guen has choosen for the closed door game in South Africa

RANGERS: Letizi; Ponroy, Pierre-Fanfan, Svensson, Murray; Sionko, N'Diaye, Clement, Adam; Stanger, Novo.

Interesting line up ....
Divrfc
Rangers won 4 - 0, charlie adam scoring a hat trick and kris boyd adding the 4th,Alan McGregor started in goals
F6
Good for Adam heard Novo missed from 4 yards but he done well setting up Charlie's first two goals .Good to see Boyd get a goal Le Guen said he was impressed by Adam , Also burke had a knock in training he went over his ankle in training and got rushed back to the hotel in Kempton ...Dont think its serious though
shiftysharp
from BBC...The 20-year-old Adam, who was on loan to St Mirren last term, was the star man as Rangers defeated a Jomo Select 4-0 in a friendly in South Africa.

And Le Guen said: "I was very pleased with him and his goals.

"I know he was on loan last season, but he has talent and he has worked very hard. He can be a part of my squad."

lookin good for charlie eh! its good to see that another scottish youngster is getting kept on by le gaffer thumbsup.gif

Oh dear, Burke also got a knee knock against Linfield.

I remember Adam from last season game against Gladbach, he was immense, him and Lovenkrands Murray and Fan-Fan were our best players in that match. But i remember Adam doing a wicked run and nutmegging a few players and everyone saying who the hells he etc as know one new what he looked like.
CaptainCarrots
Yup, Burkes out for the rest of pre-season sad.gif

Looking forward to my Bolton trip now...

Superb news for Charlie Adam, he's really asserting himself when other players would just have stayed at St. Mirren etc...

It just goes to show though, Adam's fought and earned the right, McCormack was told he wasnt needed after training and has went to Motherwell
ThisBoy
im happy for adam, we need a left footer as well
CaptainCarrots
Unless he plays 3 in midfield?

Although we haven't seen it yet, I would expect this weekends games to be pretty close to what he wants

^^^
good point

anyone know what system he used at lyon?

i remember reading he used 4-3-3 at lyon, it was that or 4-2-4 but im pretty certain it was 4-3-3 about 90% sure
CaptainCarrots
4-3-3 but one of those funky shit ones where its 4-5-1 when we defend....

It was definentely 3 up front though with 2 of real pace and a target man
FlippinEck
only thing that baffles me is, who would be in midfield... would it be clement barry and burke? i dont know if that would work, obviously you could have dado, prso and maybe sionko up there or another striker if we get one.... but preferably, in my opinoin i think we could do with using 4-2-4 but whos gonna listen to me tongue.gif... we could have clement and barry in midfield, clement is the defensive player who can then sit infront of the defenders while barry runs forward supporting the two wingers, burke and sionko, whilst up front lies boyd and prso (or other new unnamed striker) smile.gif thats my input

edit: forgot to mention back four... i would like to see hutton and smith as the two wing backs whilst J-rod partners svensson in midfield, i think the days of marvin andrews as the super sub centre forward may be over
Allan.

All Square At Murray Park

By Emma Dodds

Dado Prso looked in fine form this afternoon as Rangers played their final match ahead of the big SPL kick off on Sunday.

Dado PrsoIn a game of two halves, Rangers dominated the first 45 minutes, but the visitors came back well after the break to level the match.

It marks the end of pre-season for the Ibrox club as their next match will be at Fir Park for the SPL opener.

Dado Prso and Nacho Novo were reunited in attack for the first time under Paul Le Guen this afternoon and they didn't disappoint, carving out the opener after eight minutes.

Lionel Letizi spotted Novo on his way down the left and the Spaniard sprinted to the corner flag before whipping in a fine cross for Prso to fire home with his second touch.

Minutes earlier young defender Antoine Ponroy tested Jussi Jaaskelainen with a header but the Finnish keeper just did enough to keep the effort out.

Bolton too sent out a full-strength side for the opening 45 minutes with Kevin Davies, El Hadji Diouf and Ricardo Vaz Te spearheading the frontline.Hamed Namouchi

But with 20 minutes gone the Light Blues sliced Allardyce's men apart again and should have doubled their lead.

Makhtar N'Diaye fed Novo, who did well to beat the offside trap and he raced into the box, rounded Jaaskelainen to fire goalbound, only for Abdoulaye Faye to slide in and divert for a corner.

It was another excellent move and at this stage Gers looked in complete control.

The visitors created a half chance when Kevin Nolan found space to meet Quinton Fortune's corner after 26 minutes, but his half-volley fizzed wide.

They then created another good opportunity, again from a flag kick and Hunt could only watch as Gavin Rae deflected his shot past the post in 34 minutes.

Paul Le Guen and Yves ColleuBoth sides shuffled their packs at half time but it was Bolton who started the brightest and in the 51st minute drew level through Kevin Davies.

The towering striker was perfectly positioned at the back post to meet El-Hadji Diouf's cross and McGregor was helpless to stop his shot.

Gavin Rae saved Gers after 67 minutes when he headed Diouf's shot off the line, before Gary Speed then sent an effort crashing off the bar.

RANGERS: Letizi (McGregor 45); Ponroy (Hutton 45), Svensson (Rodriguez 72), Pierre-Fanfan, Smith (Adam 45); Namouchi (Sionko58), Rae, Clement, N'Diaye (Hemdani 72); Prso (Boyd 58), Novo (Buffel 58)

BOLTON: Jaaskelainen (Al Habsi 33 (Walker 62)); Hunt, Meite (Speed 33), Faye, Fortune, Diouf, Nolan, Haim, Al Tal, Vaz Te, Davies

I'm sure we would have won if it was an open game so to speak.
CaptainCarrots
A half team it seems, and we dominated Bolton

Glad to hear that, and so pre-season ends and we look forward to PLG's 4th title, and Rangers 52nd biggrin.gif
FlippinEck
things are looking good, from what i heard, we could have had a few goals in 2nd half and apparently they were letting people into murray park but i dunno if its true.... good result in the end and i cant wait for motherwell match, ibrox stuffed up supporters club ticket registration so it doesnt look like im going but Dundee UTd here i come biggrin.gif biggrin.gif
