Since Energie Cottbus will play in the Bundesliga next season again after 3 seasons in Bundesliga 2, I thought it's about time to make an own thread for the current best team of the old GDR.

As for the begin, here are first of all some articles about the players we signed so far this summer.

http://home.skysports.com/list.asp?hlid=38...amp;title=Rivic joins Cottbus
Stiven Rivic (striker)

http://home.skysports.com/list.asp?hlid=38...p;title=Cottbus seal McKenna deal
Mc Kenna signs a new deal

http://home.skysports.com/list.asp?hlid=39...p;title=Cottbus snap up keeper
Gerhard Tremmel (goalkeeper)

http://home.skysports.com/list.asp?hlid=39...p;title=Kuntzel signs on at Cottbus
Marco Küntzel (striker)

http://home.skysports.com/list.asp?hlid=39...p;title=Cottbus add Kukielka
Mariusz Kukielka (defender) + Vlad Munteanu (midfielder)

Right now, those signings look okay, but IMO we still need at least one defender and one midfielder, preferbly even more. We need more quality than we have right now, simple as that.

Today, there has also this season fixture list been announced, here is the Energie one:

Gladbach away at the start of the season isn't a nice game at all, Hamburg at home one week later is beer.gif . In the matches 3 to 6 we play against pretty surely relegation troubled clubs only, massive games early in the season.
The last 8 games suck, having the last 4 home games against the likes of Bremen, Wolfsburg, Leverkusen and Bayern is a joke, we can be glad if we get 5 points in those games. Tough late home games also mean big problems for teams who fight against relegation which we will do for sure.
In fact, we need a good gap on the bottom three with 8 games left, otherwise I don't rate our chances to survive high.

If anyone has any questions about the club, then don't hesitate to ask thumbsup.gif .

Let the Bundesliga fun begin smile.gif beer.gif thumbsup.gif .

It sounds like they are in for a relegation battle? How big a club are they and realistically do they stand a chance?
Pirès7
They will probally face a fight to be relegated. It depends on the signings they make IMO. If they get some good players like how Bolton do, they might stand a chance.

Well, when we look on it realistic then Energie are easily the number one candidate for relegation. We played 3 seasons so far in the top flight (from 2000 to 2003) so we are a pretty small club, we have the second smallest ground in the league I believe.
We hardly can attract real good players as we lack money.
But then again some lucky signing punches and the fact that there are like 7 teams who aren't too good aswell make you feel like a finish outside the bottom three is possible.

We need a good start into the season to get the bonus points which we'll need in the tough run in at the end of the season. It's possible to survive it, but it's going to be very hard for us, but who knows, back in 2000-2001 we were also considered as number candidate for relegation and we survived anyway.

I hope Energie do well just cuz you energy 41.

Cheers mate cheers1.gif , hope so too smile.gif .

Meanwhile Lawrence Aidoo, who hardly played last season, signed a new deal until 2008. Oh well, at least he has Bundesliga experience.

The signing of Jiayi Shao, that was already an issue here , still hasn't been completed.

There is still enough time to sign more good players, and then the fight can begin beer.gif .

Good luck for the coming season, you guys will definitely be doing it tough. I hope you all the best and will keep an affectionate eye on the scores each week. last game of the year will hopefully be a cracker, and your right.... there is plenty of time for more signing yet. Call me crazy but I believe there will be a big influx of player coming to Germany over the next years because of Germany's good showing during the cup, so it's not unlikely you guys will pick up some good players
Donny
First of all would like to congratulate energy41 tongue.gif
Energie Cottbus is one hell of a name for a club playing in such a big league like the Bundes Liga .... havent heard much of the club. They should try to get as many points as they can from the start so that no pressure in the end smile.gif

Cheers mate, good to see you back btw thumbsup.gif .
We'll be underdogs in a lot of games, but well, we can get those 40 points that we need. I can see some teams underrating us when we play against them, shouldn't be the worst thing for the team whistling.gif .

As for the last game of the season I have good memories of playing Stuttgart away even never scored there and all 3 games were poor. But damn, we avoided relegation in Stuttgart with a goalless draw back in 2002, wouldn't mind a similar positive scenario this season at all smile.gif .

I can see some better players coming to Germany, but I hardly think that we can land them. We can't even get our hands on players of clubs like Cologne or Mainz, so I doubt it somehow that we would profit of those influx. Other clubs will definately profit from it anyway, but right now Energie Cottbus can be considered as one of the three most unattractive clubs in the top flight which should limit our chances of landing some of the good players coming to Germany.

Anyway, some lucky punches are still possible and our attractivity to players will increase with every year of Bundesliga football smile.gif .

Cheers mate, I'm not surprised at all that such a fairly small club isn't well known over there in India.
Our stand out win, mailny because it was a massive surprise, was our 1-0 home win in our first ever Bundesliga match against Bayern in 2000/2001. Damn, we were the only club in Germany for a half year which had a 100% winning record against Bayern Munich biggrin.gif . Nevertheless we are fairly unfamous, never won any trophies, having played only one cup final back in 1997 as a 3rd division side.

I agree with your words, a good start would make things much easier and would also be good for my nerves.

How about a Energie Cottbus Sub-Forum? bigsmile.gif

laugh.gif Not even Bayern Munich have a sub-forum on here mate laugh.gif .

But well, maybe in the future there will be an Energie Cottbus sub-forum on SP, who knows how many people of our mob will come here after we won the CL in 2012 laugh.gif .
Zayne
2012, lol make that 2120...no seriously, it's gonna be hard for them to stay in first league, didn't see too much of them last year, but they had some trouble scoring goals if I remember correctly...biggrin.gif
btw you have an error there in your first post, the best team of the old GDR is by far the 1.FC Magdeburg. biggrin.gif
energy41
Well, we are not known for our goal scoring but defence is going to be the key next season.
We will hardly win when we conceed 2 goals or even more, but when we keep clean sheets we can pull off wins despite our limited attacking quality.

Magdeburg was good back in the days but those days are over, they are among the top 10 of the old GDR nevertheless.

But when we talk about east German football in the present, then it's sure to say that Energie Cottbus rule the east biggrin.gif .

Latest update
Jiayi Shao signs

Igor Mitreski signs

The squad list has been updated here .

preseason games so far

05.07.06 TSV Zella Mehlis - Energie Cottbus 0:13
08.08.06 FC Crimmitschau - Energie Cottbus 1:11
12.07.06 Energie Cottbus - Chemnitzer FC
14.07.06 Energie Cottbus - Banik Ostrava 2:2
16.07.06 Energie Cottbus - Cherno More Varna 2:2
20.07.06 Energie Cottbus - Bayern München II 1:1
22.07.06 Energie Cottbus - FC Budweis 1:1
26.07.06 Energie Cottbus - Athletico Madrid 1:1

We are still unbeaten, but there is hopefully plenty of better performances left in the team.
The squad look quiet decent, hopefully the lads can pull of those 40 needed points.
Allan.
How's Kevin McKenna doing?
energy41
QUOTE(Allan. @ Jul 30 2006, 04:46 PM) *

How's Kevin McKenna doing?

Excellent biggrin.gif .
He played a few games last season in central midfield where his talent was wasted and sometimes he played in attack. I believe we have a good rexord when he played up front, he scored 10 goals last season, including 2 hattricks.
When Mc Kenna played centre back the defence did really well, he was the only outfield player in the club last season who didn't miss a single minute, surely our best signing last summer.
Kevin Mc Kenna was vital for our promotion success and we're all delighted over here that he signed a new contract until 2010.
Allan.
So that means he'll be playing against Bayern etc?

Oh dear, I think you could be disappointed now.
energy41
Yes, we'll play against Bayern, Hamburg, Bremen and so on. beer.gif

I'm well prepared for situations like this one anyway, we already had 3 seasons of top flight relegation fights + our squad is among the worst 5 in the league IMO and Mc Kenna might also not be doing that well again, but I won't be too disappointed really.
We can be already glad to be even in the top flight again, we are the underdogs so I can hardly expect brilliant stuff from the lads.

I think that we might have pretty good chances to survive the battle anyway when we have a good start into the season. There are several other teams that aren't much better than us as well.
Kevin will do his part to help us finishing above the bottom 3, if it pays off then I would be fucking delighted.
Shalrie
I was looking at your roster and I just found out that Greg Berhalter isn't on your roster anymore. I was wondering how important he had been for the team and if you had found a replacement for him.
energy41
Gregg Berhalter was a regular in our first 11 for three and a half years.
He was our captain last season and scored 3 vital goals for us last season from the penalty spot, all 3 times when we were one goal down. We got 7 points from the 3 games he brought us back into, he also was valuable in the defence but well, now he decided to move on.

As for his replacement, we signed Macedonian international Igor Mitreski who already made his experiences in the CL and we signed former Poland international Mariusz Kukielka.
I can't really rate those 2 but I'm confident that they can replace Gregg, or even hopefully, can do a better job than him.
energy41
last 4 preseason games

29.07.2006 Oranienburg Eintr. Oranienburg - FC Energie Cottbus 0:5
30.07.2006 SV Yesilyurt - FC Energie Cottbus 1:5
01.08.2006 FC Strausberg - FC Energie Cottbus 0:7
05.08.2006 FC Energie Cottbus - UD Las Palmas 0:0

This makes it 6 wins and 6 draws overall in the preseason. What an unusual unbeaten run for us. Long may it continue.

In saturdays match we had the following first eleven which might have involved the most or even all players that will start in the season opener away to Gladbach on saturday.

Piplica
Szelesi - Mitreski - McKenna - Sidney
Rost - Kukielka
Rivic - Shao - Munteanu
Radu

Now we are just 5 nights away to our 3 years awaited Bundesliga comeback smile.gif .
There have been already 12,000 tickets (out of 22,450) sold for our home clash with Hamburg on the 19th of August.

Here is mine biggrin.gif
http://www.directupload.net/show/d/782/Hlu4ztRg.jpg
energy41
Now there are just a few minutes left until the clubs heads into his 4th Bundesliga campaign beer.gif .
Quiet interesting that we had our first Bundesliga game ever on the 12th August 2000. We lost 3-1 away to Bremen.

Here is our team for today, Kioyo, da Silva and Mitreski are missing because of suspensions.

Piplica
Szelesi - Kukielka - McKenna - Sidney
Rost - Aidoo
Küntzel - Shao - Munteanu
Radu

subs: Tremmel; Baumgart; Rivic; Jungnickel; Ziebig; Bandrowski; Gunkel

Come on you fight club! cheers1.gif
energy41
In the end we came home with nothing, 0-2 defeat to Mönchengladbach.
During the first half we allowed them next to anything in attack, while we played nice football, missing 3 great chances dry.gif .
Then early in the second it came like it have to come, we conceeded a goal from a corner because we didn't mark both posts. Greenhorn error.
Afterwards we had a few more attacks, but conceeded the second after an hour, from the penalty spot after a stupid challenge by our defense.
Plus we had a man sent off.

Overall the team played quiet promising but next saturday against Hamburg we badly need to take our chances and to play way more smart than we did in this game.
Then a win against Hamburg is possible, it's going to be tough anyway.
ze_89_us
A draw with Hamburg, very good result.
energy41
Energie Cottbus 2-2 Hamburger SV
Piplica - da Silva, Mitreski, McKenna, Ziebig - Rost, Kukielka (82.Baumgart) - Küntzel, Shao (46.Gunkel), Munteanu - Radu

0:1 Sanogo (39.), 1:1 Munteanu (56.), 2:1 Radu (69.), 2:2 de Jong (72.)

What a match it was. We scored an offside goal and missed a few other good chances in the first half.
Then Sanogo put out a stunner (recommend it to download wink.gif ) and we were one down. 0-1 halftime.
The team came back well fighting, Sanogo hit someone with his arm in the face, should have been sent off but of course wasn't.
Then Hamburg's Jarolim (who dived all over the place thumbsdownsmileyanim.gif ) cleared the ball off his goalline with his hand. We got the penalty for it and scored from it but Jarolin wasn't sent off thumbsdownsmileyanim.gif .
Then we even went 2-1 up, the ground rocked. Unfortunately we conceeded yet another stupid goal from a corner that denied us the deserved win.
Afterwards Sanogo stepped out of order again, should have been sent off again.
But the refrees sent off Demel instead, yet another big mistake by them.

Not to mention that we should have got a clear penalty when it was still 0-0.

Overall Hamburg played unimpressive, they have more class in their squad but hardly showed it.
Our lads did very well, especially since we played 11 vs 11 + the refs. We did fucking great while Hamburg were safed BIG TIME by one of the most ridiculous refree performances that I have ever seen in a ground.
And believe me, there are regularly such piss poor refs in Cottbus.

Anyway, the first point is in now. Should have been 4 or 6 anyway.
Whatever, we aren't as bad as many people think (and wish wink.gif )

39 more points needed.
T.I.
Though I'm seeing it from the other side, thanks for the recap energy41!

Do you know anywhere I can download the goals from the match? Haven't found anywhere on here and I put it in the requests forum...
energy41
Sorry mate, don't know where to find them myself.
I hope someone will come up with some good links the next days.

After I saw some more reviews, Cottbus were clearly denied one penalty and 2 further sent offs for Hamburg.
Now that was crucial then. But whatever, got to get on with it.
energy41
VfL Bochum 0 - Energie Cottbus 1

Piplica - Da Silva, Mitreski, McKenna, Ziebig - Rost, Kukielka - Küntzel (71. Gunkel), Shao, Munteanu (69. Baumgart) - Radu (90. Szelesi)

Finally we got our first win of the season beer.gif and made up for the 3 points we lost in the first 2 games of the season.
The start into the match was good, we missed 2 sitter again anyway. Bochum made the game all afternoon but they hardly brought us in danger so that we are able to keep the 0-0 very long despite an average + uninspired attacking performance.
Then after 85 minutes the lads punished Bochum smile.gif by scoring with a stunning da Silva header from a Ziebig left hand side cross.
goal link in here

Next games:

Sa, 09.09.2006, 15:30 Uhr Rot-Weiss Essen - FC Energie Cottbus (German cup)
Sa, 16.09.2006, 15:30 Uhr FC Energie Cottbus - 1.FSV Mainz 05
So, 24.09.2006, 17:00 Uhr FC Energie Cottbus - 1.FC Nürnberg

The next cup round is a must and even Mainz & Nürnberg had good starts into the season we need to get 4 or 6 points out of those 2 games. This would be a massive confidence boost and take away pressure big time as 10 points from 5 games would be stunning, especially when we consider that some other clubs could still have less than 3 points by then.

I'm looking forward to those matches, will try to go to the Mainz game.

Any posts appreciated as it makes more fun to talk to some people than to talk to myself. cheers1.gif

energy41
The club had a friendly game with Lech Poznan of Poland on friday in our home ground in front of 1,000 people.

We won it 4:3 after a pretty bad first half.
0:1 Marcin Zajac (35.), 0:2 Marcin Zajac (43.), 1:2 Daniel Gunkel (47.), 2:2 Francis Kioyo (55.), 3:2 Steffen Baumgart (61.), 3:3 Marcin Drzymont (73.), 4:3 Steffen Baumgart (88.)
http://www.fcenergie.de/saison/spiel.php?ID=468

It's good to see the lads fighting back well even it wasn't a match of any matter.
Having been to the game it was fun, mainly because of things that happened besides the pitch laugh.gif , but it was a good day out nevertheless.

*can't wait for the Mainz game on the 16th*
energy41
RW Essen 1 - Energie Cottbus 0

Tremmel - Da Silva(46. Szelesi), Mitreski, McKenna, Ziebig - Kukielka - Aidoo(71. Shao), Küntzel, Gunkel, Baumgart, Kioyo

Once again the lads crushed out of the cup way too early, wasn't unexpected anyway.
The performance wasn't good enough to beat those newly promoted 2nd Bundesliga side that is known for their strength in home games.

We missed 5 players of our usual first 11 which was quiet a blow.
Neither of those 5 seems to be injured badly, so I'm confident that they'll all make the squad for the Mainz game this saturday.
Mainz should be one of our contenders for the relegation battle, so a win against them would be very good for us. Should be a tough, close game and it's also the second home game this season I'm going to.
2 games out of 2, stunning rate for my standards laugh.gif .

Looking forward to this one cheers1.gif .

Hi I am trying to find an Energie Cottbus forum, and I was wondering whether anyone could help with this?
energy41
Energie Cottbus 2 - Mainz 05 0

Piplica - Da Silva, Mitreski, McKenna, Ziebig - Kukielka, Rost(88. Baumgart) - Küntzel(69. Bandrowski), Shao, Munteanu(80. Gunkel) - Radu

1:0 Radu (49.), 2:0 Munteanu (61.)

I've been to this game and the first half was well shocking because both teams were poor.
Mainz were the better team in terms of technique, we showed more fighting spirit. Cottbus attacked mainly with long balls that were easy to handle for the Mainz defenders which was annoying.
If I'm not mistaken only one shot in the first half went on target laugh.gif , another 3 off target. I'm not talking about Cottbus only, I'm talking about both sides on this point hump.gif .

Then at halftime 2x2 fans played blind kick. They had to get the ball from one goal to the other and score then to be winners. It was just like the first half of the match since the fans also had big problems to get the ball into the right direction. Not only the Mainz substitutes had their fun whilst watching it laugh.gif .
This was the highlight of the whole event thus far btw whistling.gif .

In the second half Cottbus played better, scored after 49 minutes thanks to Radu who got in between the defender and goalkeeper who were unsure who should clear the situation. Of course the goal resulted out of one of the countless long balls by Cottbus.
Suddenly we had a 1-0 lead. The way it happened was very random, absolutely out of nothing.
Nobody knew how the lads got into the lead that way but we were well pleased.
Afterwards we had a few more chances, scored the 2nd on a beautiful counter attack.
Mainz didn't have a shot on target all game long, great stuff by our defence this beer.gif .

So all in all, an average performance vs a team that should also fight against relegation was enough to cruise to this win. The attendance of 13,000 was poor considering our good start into the season.

Nürnberg at home on sunday is next, 4th vs 2nd, headline game of the weekend whistling.gif .
Hopefully the lads can win again and push even more forward in the table, 1st place on sunday evening isn't impossible. Who would have thought that? I certainly wouldn't.

Pleased with our season so far, hopefully the team can keep it up and get as many points as possible early on.

Welcome to SP btw cheers1.gif .

As for your question, the safest bet might be the forum on the clubs official homepage.

I don't know if there are any english Energie Cottbus forums around but I think it's safe to say that there won't be too many of them yet biggrin.gif .

I am looking to get in touch with any supporter groups so if you know of any that would be amazing

I'm not in a supporters club myself but in case that you can talk German I should be able to tell you pretty easy how to contact some supporters club.

You like Energie Cottbus by any chance? smile.gif

I speak little German but i really would like to get a feel for the atmosphere at the ground and the passion of the supporters

Okay mate, so what exactly do you need in terms of help?
Should I tell you some supporter clubs that you can contact yourself or what?

Just tell me and I'll try to help you then.

well really i am looking for info on Cottbus and the other clubs which I mention on the other thread
energy41
Some links to the Cottbus fan scene can be found on the link below
http://www.fcenergie.de/fanzone/surftips/home.php
Hope this helps thumbsup.gif .

To tell you something about the fan scene, Energie Cottbus have a quiet small group of supporters.
Our attendance average is the lowest in the Bundesliga, many people just go to games when we can gain promotion, are on a good run or they can get beer for free at the end of the season.

Then again we have several supporters who travel to a lot of away games, get involved in doing chorerographies and stuff. The atmosphere in the ground usually just is good when we have just scored or are in the lead.
Saturdays atmosphere was bad I have to say. The ground tends to be well quiet, I believe I was the one who celebrated our goals on saturdays the loudest, hardly see people around me in the ground going really mental as I do usually. Maybe I'm just in the wrong block too often.

That is the case in games when we have a refree who fullfils his job well. If not, which happens quiet often dry.gif , the crowd gets way more loud than it's the case when we have a game as last saturday.
The first home game of the season is a prime example, the refree was unbelieveable shit to us so the crowd got into it loud. It became loud, an atmosphere like the pure hate, just like "We against that damn opponent on the pitch and the so called refrees".

So overall the atmosphere in Cottbus can turn out to be well hot, good ground anyway for away fans who like to sing out the home crowd.

I'm biased obviously, but I can defiantely recommend you to check out the ground thumbsup.gif .
Should be well worth the experience, tickets are fairly cheap either.

energy41
Energie Cottbus 1 - 1.FC Nürnberg 1

Piplica - Da Silva, Mitreski, McKenna, Ziebig - Rost(64. Gunkel), Kukielka - Küntzel(64. Bandrowski), Shao(46. Baumgart), Munteanu - Radu

0:1 Mnari (10.), 1:1 Baumgart (83.)

This match was very bad by our team, Nürnberg were all over the place for the first 75 minutes or so.
We just had a few, harmless attacks.
Nürnberg were classes better when it comes to build up play, technique, winning the second ball and winning headers.
Our long balls that we play all season long so far are the predictable shit. Two of our attacking four players are average at best, not even first 11 material in this club.
Küntzel on the right hardly gets the ball and if he gets it, the chance is wasted. He doesn't make things happen, usually gets the ball in bad positions anyway.

Jiayi Shao, his 2 assists last week safed his place in the team for this match big time. He was again our worst player, for the third time this season whistling.gif . Shao can't buy the Cottbus fighting style, simple as that. He's quiet a good player when he's got space. If not, ehm, better don't ask what's the case then.

As for the match, Nürnberg scored a belter early on with Cottbus continuing to defend afterwards.
Luckily it was just 0-1 at the half, could have been worse.
The crowd was pissed about the performance. It was well bad as usual in a first half at home so it wasn't unexpected.
Almost 17,000 people attended the match, some around me complained way too much for my liking, can't expect us to beat Nürnberg 5-0 rolleyes.gif .

In the second half we became better, Nürnberg still was better, missed more chances.
Then with 15 minutes left the team started to attack stronger and luckily still was just 1 goal down.
Everything was still possible.
We scored a goal through Radu, miles offside. Everyone around me celebrated, guess who spotted the offside flag anyway? whistling.gif
2 minutes later we had a throw in. Da Silva threw it, Gunkel made it longer, Mintal from Nürnberg headed the ball towards goal to Baumgart who scored from 5 yards out.
Guess who went nuts the most after the real goal?
Yeah, it was me bigsmile.gif .
Afterwards the crowd was finally in it, time was too short to win it anyway.

All in all we were very lucky not to lose. If we conceed the early 2-0 as we could/should have, they gonna trash us 4-0 or 5-0. Fortunately we just kept the deficit to 1 goal (well done Piplica beer.gif ).
Poor finishing by Nürnberg helped us to get away with it. If we would have scored after 65 or 70 minutes we still would have won it IMO, glad about the scoreline anyway.

8 points from 5 games are good stuff, lost 3 in the first 2 games, won 3 in the last 3 games.
The performances need to get better.

Bielefeld away is next, at least a point is needed, hopefully the lads can pull it off.
Things look surprisingly good which is great. Peace.

Arminia Bielefeld 3 - Energie Cottbus 1

Piplica - Szelesi(70. Baumgart), McKenna, Mitreski, Ziebig - da Silva, T. Rost(70. Jungnickel) - Küntzel, Munteanu(76. Gunkel) - Radu, Kioyo

0:1 Munteanu (22.), 1:1 Zuma (48.), 2:1 Wichniarek (62.), 3:1 Masmanidis (74.)

We had a stunning first half with solid defensive play and good attacks. Unfortunately we just scored one goal which was a great counter anyway. We should have lead by 2 or 3 goals at half time since we all know that even the worst performance can lead to points as long as you are just 1 goal down with enough time left.

Bielefeld had the luck we had last week by keeping the deficit to just one. The equaliser after halftime was like a neck breaker. Then the story went it's way.
Sadly we threw away 3 points in big fashion which sucks since it would have taken plenty of pressure of the lads shoulders.

Dortmund at home is next on the 15th, we better don't lose it to avoid getting dropped down.
Hopefully the lads will finally play 2 good halfs, then we should pretty surely Dortmund.
If not it's going to be a damn tough game.

On a positive note we lead the league in one statistic.
We have the most bookings of all Bundesliga clubs so far this season.
That's the spirit, that's the Fight Club thumbsup.gif .

*hopes that anyone will join in talks about the club*
George Foreman.
Wow and to think they were relegation candinates, they are coming 11th which is very good. Up next is Borussia Dortmund. Thats going to be a hard task. Energie can you also tell me how Nuri Sahin goes in that match

Cheers
energy41
Well mate, the table is tricky right after 6 games.
If we would have 5 points we might be in the bottom three, if we would have 11 points we were in first place then. In any case we are fighting against relegation and we will do so long.
Probably we get relegated with 3 games left or survive the battle with 2 games left but in this season we are just fighting against relegation.

If we should stay in the league for let's say 3 or more years we might have a bit higher ambitions but mainly a finish outside the bottom three will always have priority.

As for Sahin, I doubt he will even play, if he does I'll let you know my impressions of him in this game thumbsup.gif .

Energie Cottbus 2 - Borussia Dortmund 3

Piplica - Da Silva(36. Szelesi), Mitreski, McKenna, Ziebig - Küntzel(63. Baumgart), Kukielka, Rost(67. Gunkel), Munteanu - Radu, Kioyo

0:1 Brzenska (2.), 1:1 da Silva (3.), 1:2 Brzenska (57.), 1:3 Frei (59.), 2:3 Munteanu (89. penalty)

In front of a crowd of 19.700 which saw Dortmund supporters in 5 blocks, not just in the 2 they were supposed to get. Bloody print at home system, kills the home advantage dry.gif .

Then the crowd, myself included, saw a crazy start to the game.
Dortmund won a freekick on the left hand side after a needless handball by da Silva.
Ricken delivered it perfect to Brzenska who headed it in with few problems, what a gifted goal that was.
Then we came back on level terms after da Silva scored with a wide open header from a Munteanu corner.
That equalled the individual mistakes, it happened all within the first 150 seconds of the game.

Afterwards Cottbus made the pressure in a boring game without getting too good chances so the game stayed on level terms until the 57th minute when Dortmund almost made a copy of the 0-1 that allowed Brzenska another open header and easy goal. Poor defending once more. Not to mention that the freekick was a result of pure stupidity by 2 Cottbus players.
After Kioyo missed out on the equaliser, Frei scored with a stunning shot on the counter attack.
Our goalkeeper Piplica should have safed those 2 goals actually, wasn't that far away from him.

That was the neck breaker then, poor refree calls and freekicks as gift for Dortmund diving all over the place as well as own lack of quality didn't let us come back.
The 2-3 was a gifted penalty, but well, just equalled the calls before and wasn't of matter anyway.
As for Sahin mate, he was just a sub on sunday. He tried to show some skills during the warm up but pretty much failed with most tries, out of form I suppose.

All in all we do quiet solid this season, need to play way more outstanding though, yet to have a real good performance this season.
Having a winger in the first 11 that simply isn't Bundesliga starter material doesn't help us either.

Aachen away is next on saturday and we badly need some sort of success there, hope we can snatch a point there to get back on track.
The defence is they key, goal scoring works pretty solid this season but conceeding more than 1 goal pretty much kills our winning chances so I hope the lads will get it covered better soon.

Come on you Fight Club thumbsup.gif .

Alemannia Aachen 1 Energie Cottbus 2

Piplica - Schöckel(46. Szelesi), Mitreski, McKenna, Ziebig - Rost, Kukielka - Radu, Gunkel(72. Shao), Munteanu(86. Baumgart) - Kioyo

1:0 Reghecampf (16.), 1:1 Munteanu (65.), 1:2 T. Rost (75.)

Aachen had a good start, were the better team the first half.
We had few chances and weren't in the game really so they lead deserved, thanks to a fine freekick.
After halftime we came back very well, played much better and gave Aachen a real run for their money.
Aachen missed out on the 2-0 and got punished on a counter while they were 1 goal up.
And what a peach of a counter it, top stuff thumbsup.gif . Following to that the lads tried to win it and did so after Rost scored with a freekick.

The defence was improved this time. Kioyo and Szelesi did better than lately as well, Gunkel did well in his first start this season. Everyone was quiet solid so all in all we were deserved winners of that contest smile.gif .

The derby with Berlin is up next on saturday, should be a tough one. Hopefully the lads can get something out of this one.

Come on you Fight Club thumbsup.gif .

Energie Cottbus 2 Hertha BSC Berlin 0

Piplica - Szelesi, Mitreski, McKenna, Ziebig - Rost(58. Shao), Kukielka - Radu(89. Küntzel), Gunkel, Munteanu(81. Baumgart) - Kioyo

1:0 Gunkel (66.), 2:0 Shao (83.)

A bit late this time, but anyway, here we go for my usual post about Energie Cottbus last game.

We had Hertha BSC Berlin in town last saturday and since they are our closest rivals there was the aim to have safety first, inside the ground and especially outside the ground.
Everything went quiet so the men in green got it all covered well cheers1.gif .

As for the game itself, we had quiet a good start but didn't cause too many danger.
Then we won a penalty after 20 minutes that was a correct one, unlike Hertha coach Götz and co thought.
Didn't matter anyway since Munteanu put it right over the bar which was a blow of course.

Berlin got a lift afterwards and missed 2 good chances before halftime, one of them was nicely safed by Piplica. 0-0 halftime. So now we've scored 1 first half goal in 5 home games.

After the break Berlin came back well, had another good chance safed and scored a goal which was clearly offside. Luckily.
Then the 66th minute arrived, we had a freekick in a good position. And Hertha goalkeeper Fiedler build up a wide open Berlin wall in front of him. There was such a nice big gap in there, I saw it clearly even I was like 100 metres away from it. I had a feeling that this freekick is THE chance to decide this game into our favor. Daniel Gunkel fired the ball right between the wide open gap where Berlin keeper Fiedler didn't look too well, he didn't safe it. Plus, he was the man who gave us this chance.
Please. Thanks. thumbsup.gif

Then Hertha had Okoronkwo correctly sent off after 78 minutes and Shao sealed the win with a nice shot outside the 18 yard box after a fine counter attack.

It was a well deserved win. Not to mention that we won it in a honest way and with much more passion.
Berlin complained after the match anyway which makes them look like bad losers. Whatever.

So we have 14 points from 9 games now which is very nice stuff.
The more we can get until the winter break, the better. I hope we'll have something like 22 to 25 points in the winter. It's going to be tough but we can do it.

Same really as for our next game which is away to Werder Bremen.
It could end in a trashing defeat for us but this is probably the easiest game of the season because nobody expects us to get anything from this game. We can only win a point there, a defeat wouldn't be that bad at all as long as we don't lose too high.

It should be interesting.

Come on you Fight Club thumbsup.gif .

i'm glad you got rid of the weird knee pimp sig

keep up the good thread
energy41
Yeah mate, the sig was just insider fun really but those who know what was meant liked it laugh.gif .

Anyway, I would appreciate if someone could join me in this thread smile.gif .
I mean, right now we're the 6th best team in Germany, so come on ladies and gentlemen cheers1.gif .
houjun
haha,Shao had a nice goal! But now he is just a sub in Cottbus.
And hi,energy41 what do your local Cottbus fan think of Shao?
energy41
Shao had problems here early on, he didn't seem to be hard enough.
He's improved lately and it gets better fortunately.

Shao isn't a fan favorite but he isn't disliked here either I would say.
bob dylan
Good ol' Cottbus is 1-0 up against Werder Bremen, away from home. That's pretty damn good I'd say, they seemed to have been thrashing everybody lately.
