There's Only One United

Read an interview on him the other day. Is a 17 year old striker from adelaide who has been doing well and has been playing with newcastle uniteds academy team in england and made a few reserves appearences and has been training with the first team in the 05/06 season
Can anyone tell me more about him? it's encouraging to find out all the time of these young players who are doing well overseas and makes the future seem a bit more promising. Don't think he's been called up to australian youth squads like the U/17's in the past either which is weird. Imagine he might make the U/20's if any good as is still young.

James Troisi (Newcastle United – 17):
The Striker/Winger is very much in the mould of Harry Kewell, loves to dribble, with blistering pace. Near unstoppable at youth level where Troisi is averaging a goal a game. He was promoted to the reserve side, where he continued to net goals, even though he was being played further up the field. Described as a “spark”, Troisi can bring life to any attack, and torments defences with extremely intelligent runs, but due to his blistering pace, and knack in front of goal, he is seldom caught. An Australian U-17 representative, Troisi’s star is expected to rise, especially if he is given the chance on the world stage, like the upcoming Olympics in Beijing.

Interesting to see this topic again and to see how much more we all know about him now 18 months later.

Troisi has been doing consistently well for Newcastle's reserves for a couple of seasons now. If it wasn't for the wealth of left sided opitons [Duff, N'Zogbia (before that even Luque)] Troisi might have gotten a first team appearance sooner.
Pretty sure he has been on the bench a few times. So hopefully we'll see more of him soon.

He hasn't really featured on the bench that often at all actually. He was on the bench away at Spurs last season but that was about it.
As you said, there are simply too many options for Keegan and now with the likes of Kazenga Lua Lua coming through, I hate to say that the immediate future doesn't look too bright for Troisi.
Hopefully he will prove me wrong, because he definitely has talent...

Didn't even make an appearance though and to be honest, I wasn't expecting him too.

Troisi has been cut from Newcastle by Keegan earlier this week. This means that he'll have to look for another club now and while the A-League some may say is an option he'll surely remain in Europe. The main goal of his next move will be to go to a club where he can secure first team football is it's crucial he gets that now as the opportunities at Newcastle were very thin despite people saying that he was close to breaking into the first team squad.
He went to Holland for trials with Roda JC a few months ago and it's a strong possibility that he may look in that direction again as I think he would be well suited to play in Holland. He's going to be at the Olympics with the Olyroos so if he hasn't arranged anything by then it will be a great chance to showcase he talent to potential employees.

No he's not sorry

Has been a part of our U/23 squad for a while now and will be featuring at the Olympics for Australia. He also made his debut against Singapore earlier this year for Australia and is fully committed to hopefully being a part of the 2010 World Cup squad.
