ROME, June 27 (Reuters) - Former Juventus player Gianluca Pessotto was in a serious condition after falling from a window at the club's headquarters, the Juventus press office said on Tuesday.

Pessotto, who took up the post of Juventus's sports director at the end of last season after 11 years with the team, was taken to hospital in Turin.

The defender, who made 22 appearances for Italy, was a regular starter during one of the most successful periods in Juventus's history, winning six Serie A titles and the 1996 Champions League.

Italy captain and Juventus defender Fabio Cannavaro walked out of a news conference at the Azzurri's World Cup training camp when he heard the news of Pessotto's fall.

they are saying it was a suicide he wanted to do. he had a rosary in his hand.
Dirge
This is very sad, and dare i say it suspicious in these dark days of italian football?
Gunning IV Glory
Well when I first read it I thought it might have a link to the Juventus scandal and now you say he had rosary beads in his hands makes it even more likely.

Very sad.

This is mad...surely as one of the newer hierarchy Juve memebers he wasnt in thta deep in Moggis shit.

All the same, very sad, Pessoto was one of few Juve players i liked. I hope he recovers and whatever was troubling him eases itself

Very odd events. Almost like reading a novel. Did he jump or did he know too much? g.gif

But seriously, it's all very sad if Pessotto attempted suicide. I really hope he recovers well both physically and mentally. This event may serve as inspiration for the Juve players in the Azzurri squad. I'm sure they'll be dedicating their upcoming performances to him.

Italy players Alessandro Del Piero and Gianluca Zambrotta have left the team's World Cup camp in Germany to visit Juventus colleague Gianluca Pessotto.

This is such a shame. I highly dislike the Italian National Football Team, but I do not want this to affect their play. It would be terrible if they lost because of this tragedy. But more imortantly I hope he gets better.

Very sad news to hear, but Pretty stupid Considering he had a Rosary in his hand, but anyone knew why he wanted do that? ph34r.gif

I wonder if he was appealing for a penalty on the way down. If not I'm sure Grosso could give him some tips. Bloody Itallian cheats.

Yes I am living in Australia...Aussies were robbed in the final 16

Your first post and you make something that is indeed a very dark situation turn into a topic that generalises an entire nation. I'm as upset as you are about Australia's exit, but a man is in a serious condition in hospital, and this is neither the time nor place to make light of it, nor should it ever be made trivial. A game is a game, a World Cup will come again, Life isn't the same sir.

Verbal warning.

Yeah, seems funny all the controvesy surrounding the club and he "Falls" from a 15m high window.

Well, here on Irish teletext a report has come in that his wife made a public speech thingy, declaring that he couldnt handle not playing anymore and that being behind the desk was a job he didnt feel he could do, or thats the gist of it anyway.

Its still very strange, and lads, the rosary beads he was obviously begging for forgiveness for he was attempting to commit a Mortal Sin by killing himself...ALLEGEDLY!

He is not in any way associated with the scandal plaguing the Serie A right now. My thoughts and prayers are with the Professore and his family right now. Hoping for a speedy recovery.

YA, there has been no SOLID CONCRETE evidence associating him with this. Its all assumptions and heresay...which should be left outta this thread. Not even Milan fans want guys like Pessotto jumping outta windows. I hope whatever is troubling him will ease itself...

Thats sad news. Hope he makes a full and speedy recorvery and gets the help and the support he needs. This is a really dark time for Italian football

Gab Marcotti said on the Radio that he has been having some very very serious personal problems with his wife (he wouldn't say the specifics on the Radio) and it is likely to have been that which has caused him to do this. He is supposedly very depressed.

He was a player when the match fixing was meant to have taken place so in a way he is connected but not directly and I can't see that he would be connected in a way that would require such drastic action.

Hope he makes a full recovery

I am as guilty as anyone else in this thread for linking this to the match fixing scandal but i think we should disconnect this from it. It sounds like pessoto has demons of his own. I give all my best wishes to him and his family. i hope he has a speedy recovery and life sorts itself out for him.

Pessotto will recover, surely! I read some articles and apparently he got overworked and needed a break. Shows you the kinda guy he is.
Good luck Pessotto, get well soon!
