CELTIC will kick-off the 2006/2007 season without defender Bobo Balde.
The Guinean centre-half has been diagnosed with a muscle injury in his lower abdomen which, it is anticipated, will require surgery.
“Bobo is experiencing a lower abdominal muscle problem,” commented a club spokesperson.
“This has been a long-term problem for Bobo and the first course of action was a period of rehabilitation.
“However, the injury has not responded to this period of rehab.”
The spokesperson continued: “Bobo will see a specialist today (Thursday, June 29) and it is more than likely that surgery will be required. This surgery will be performed tomorrow.
“Bobo will be out for a number of weeks, but it is too early at this stage to give a specific timescale.”

Wonder what WGS will be thinking now, will his central defence be Caldwell and McManus ? IMO this could be a good partnership given time as both are young men but as for Europe, we'd be vulnerable at the back should Bobo be missing and no otherexperienced head replace him.
