Too early to say which players should be in the NT for the 2010 WC (excuse me for a second, I have to punch the wall, again). . . ok, but whenever AFA picks the new coach, here is the nucleous of players that have to make up the team:
Messi (obvious)
Teves (obvious)
Ustari (he is the future goalkeeper for our NT team and I want to see him develop)
Mascherano (the guy can flat out play)
Maxi Rodriguez (perhaps, our best attacker during the WC)
Burdisso (a real nice suprise and young enough to be around for 2010)
Lucho (should have played more)
Aimar (still young enough)
Aguero (IT IS TIME!)
Zabaleta (he really is good and young enough to become the next Ayala)
Cambiasso (not a great WC, but he is a rock and can give help to Mascherano)
Riquelme (. . . he is our man and maybe young enough)
Gonzago (defender for Villareal, did not make the squad b/c he was hurt, but he is amazing)
Heinze (if he can still play)
Saviola
The following are players that need to get a look at, and see how if they can play:
Cavenaghi (let's give him a try)
Maxi Lopez (we are going to need size up top)
Bilos (I would like to see if he can play with the NT, and dont want to loose him to Croatia)
Palacio (we need to see more of him before I give him the green or red light)

Great list. I have full faith in Palacio and believe that he should be a definite pick for the next WC, especially if he continues to play like he's playing now. Bilos is good, but maybe there is someone better. We'll also have to keep an eye on Cavenaghi and see how he develops because I haven't heard his name in the longest time, which is not a good sign. Maxi Lopez needs to get much better in a hurry, though, because from what I have seen of him he is not very good at all. Gonzalo is an absolute MUST. He will be the new rock in the defense alongside Heinze.

I would go with a young, new team. It would have as many class young players as there can be, with rocks in the defence.
Something like:
-----------------Saviola----------------
-----Tevez-----Aguero-----Messi-----
----------Gago-----Mascherano------
--Heinze--Gonzago--Milito--??????--
-----------------Ustari-----------------
This team would dominate in my opinion.
I wasn't sure who I should put as the forward. I put Saviola but there are many other great youngsters. Saviola is great because he can finish and run at defenders. But the forward could also be a big target man if needed.
The attacking trio of Tevez, Messi, and Aguero would be too much to handle and is unfair to the rest of the world. These are the three greatest youngsters in the world. They would all move around and switch positions throughout the game making it hard for the other team to mark. Their passing ability and ability to run at defenders is just too much. Having these three is unfair to the rest of the world.
The DM could also possibly be the best DM partnership in the world if these two live up to their hype. Mascherano was in my eyes, one of the top three if not THE best DM at the WC. So he would definately be in the next WC squad. And Gago has a lot of promise in him.
For the defense, Gonzalo and Milito would anchor the defense. I watch them every week in La Liga and they are absolute rocks. And still more than young enough to play. Heinze is still good enough for another WC. I am not sure of a good RB though. Zanetti won't go for another WC and none of the RBs from this WC impressed me.
Ustari is a great keeper. He could have started in this WC. He is young, but class, and by the next tournament he'll be loaded with experience, and some time in Europe as well.
5 of these 11 still play in South America, but have tons of promise. So by the next WC they will have European experience and will have shown the world what they have.

good likeup overall puyol..but i would like to have aimar in the line-up
gago is good but still, i would prefer lucho gonzalez..but who knows, gago may turn to be our new redondo!!!
we may have a simeone-redondo partnership in mascherano-gago
but i think mascherano should also do some attack
no other defensive midfield completely sits back..if not often, he at least needs to try to get forward couple of time in a match and should try to take long range shots like he does in curanthians..it would make him a complete player..

Gago is that kind of player though, a deep-lying playmaker whereas Masche is really more of a ball-winner and distributor. While Masche sits back comfortably, Gago can sneak forward now and then and provide some cover for the rest of the attackers, keeping the ball in the opponents' end.

IF Argentina played 4-2-3-1 this would be my line up
-----------------Saviola----------------
-----Tevez-----Riquelme-----Messi-----
----------Cambiaso-----Mascherano------
--?Heinze?--Milito--Gonzalo--Zabaleta
-----------------Leo Franco-----------------
I can see Roman playing another world cup especaily if Pekerman stays but Heinze on the other hand I don't think will play I mean he is injury prone and almost gets injured at least once every season.

I think in 4 years time Ustari will be the best Argentinian goalkeeper by far. I was never impressed with Franco in the first place and I think he will be the 3rd choice after Lux, if Franco even gets a spot.
Also, although Roman will likely be in the squad, at 32 years old building the team around him may not be such a great idea. He might be used as a substitute because in 4 years there is no way the coach will be able to keep Tevez, Messi, or Kun on the bench. They will be way too good.

I'm sorry, I know a lot of Argentines like Lux, but from what I've seen of him, he has to be one of the worst keepers I have ever seen. His positioning is awful, he's just lame. He's a vampire, can't handle the crosses
Ustari, I have never seen but I'll have to take your word on him. Barbosa of Villareal, I have heard that many dislike him, but he seems to be a god young keeper to me, I prefer him over the eccentric Vieira at Villa, and was pretty solid end of season when Vieira was injured/suspended. And a 40 year old keeper isn't unheardof, mabe pato will still be here. hahaha

I must say, especially as a Boca fan, that I also think Lux is bad. However, in the Confed Cup he more than proved his worth for the NT, I think the only problem really was that he may not be as consistent. I have faith in Barbosa, the only problem is that he's not starting regularly for Villarreal. If he were to become the first-choice keeper he would become immensely better I think and an easy pick for the NT.

he is 25 and plays for ajex..he is pretty talented..his crosses are great..but since now we may not have a tall and good heading striker like crespo, we don't really need him

------------------------------------CAVENAGHI----------------------
-----------TEVEZ--------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------MESSI---------------
---------------------------AGUERO------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------GAGO----------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------MASCHERANO-------------------
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
---HEINZE-------------------------------------------COLOCINNI---
-------------------ZABALETA--------MILITO------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------USTARI----------------------------------
Cavenaghi is tall and I've seen him score fantastic goals. Tevez is a machine. Messi has speed and dribble. Aguero can dribble and playmake, and he's not shy in front of goal. Gago may be the next Redondo. Mascherano arguably the world's best DM. Heinze is better on the flanks than as CB. Zabaleta may prove his worth. Milito is solid. Coloccini is big and agile, not as bad as some make him look. Ustari is an upcoming promise.
Lux - We need another keeper don't we?
Saviola - Runs at defenders. Can sub Tevez
Aimar - Faster version of Riquelme. Subs Aguero
Yacob - Promising talent
Palacio - Promising talent
Maxi Lopez - He has shone moments of great talent for Barca. He's a big target man, too.
Santana - Skilled SMF.
Rosales - May fit other formations, skilled and good passer
Figueroa - Possibility (don't really like him)
D'Allesandro - Always loved this kid
Demichelis - Similar to Beckenbauer eh?
Maxi Rodriguez - Great SMF
Insua - Great at Boca, right?
Mariano Gonzalez - Great passer
Burdisso - Good enough
Not so sure about:
Cambiasso - Showed moments of excellence of moments of disaster
Lucho Gonzalez - He's a good player, but not fantastic enough for the Argentina squad
Note: This isn't necessarily a 2010 WC squad.. we have another 4 years to see how players develop, and we don't know what great surprises await us anyway. I didn't look up the ages, but most should 30 or under by 2010. I also didn't worry about mentioning that many defenders, because I just ranted on many of the attacking players we have.

Very good list...just need Villarreal's Gonzalo, who should easily grab a starting spot as soon as he's picked in the team.

One thing for sure, with players leaving Argentina to go to Europe, new players only the Club members in Argentina would know, will be promoted and we'll have at least four new players by 2010, to give the coach a selection headache.
