Whether they won it shouldn't mean the should get an automatic spot. You don't seem to understand that the CL was originally for the winners of each league. That's why it's called 'The Champions League', then they added the 2nd, 3rd place teams. If a team cannot qualify through their own league then they don't deserve a spot, otherwise you'd have teams who finish 20th in their league and still qualify which is totally against the fundamentals of what the competition is about. It's a contradiction.
In 1981 Aston Villa finished 11th in the league but won the European Cup. It's not bullocks, if you win a trophy then you should be allowed to defend it. Particulary the European Cup.
UEFA and the English FA fucked it up, Liverpool is not to blame. The year before Liverpool won the cup, Chelsea and Arsenal met in the quarter-finals. It was said then that if either of those two teams win the European Cup and finish outside the top four then the fourth team would be dropped and the winner would take the spot.
However the English FA changed their mind when Everton finished 4th, the same bullshit rule didn't apply to Liverpool [surprise surprise]. Therefore UEFA had to make a decision, thankfully only 4 teams from England went to the group stages as Everton were knocked out.
Tottenham don't deserve to be in the Champions League qualifier because they fail to finish in the top four, had they won the European Cup then they should be in it. But they haven't, you obviously can't seem to understand what I'm saying.

altough liverpool mite get the spot. i agree with fanatic it shud be spurs
The spot that Liverpool might get is a spot in the group stages, therefore they wouldn't have to go through Champions League qualifiers. Why the hell should Tottenham be allowed directly to go to the group stages?
