Hi, i got quite a few problems, as iv stated before i live in a town that only plays basketball and rugby really, thertes hardly any football for me to attend, which is a waste because i could have made it pro had i been able to be coached properly, ( si im told ) basciallly i attended a soccer school 3 years back, and i met people from around the world and i keep in contact with them , i was the best out of us all and they went home to there countrys got coached and now play in youth for washington DC and other big clubs, we meet again soon and iv worked SO HARD on my own training like 5 hours a day on my own with no coach, and i feel i can return to impress them but theres a few flaws that i couldnt teach myself and need advise from people who know what theyre doing , cus i cudnt teahc myself, ANY help is apprciated this is the only coaching i get smile.gif

i bascially need to know firstly , when somnoe crosses a ball if im fortunate to get a game, it just flys over my head and i cant reahc it, where do i stand to ensure i can challenge for the ball and then how do i challenge for it, general heading help needed because i got no idea on that front.

secondly, i once practised for example moves to do on somone whos trying to tackle you from behind, i practised for a week solid and tryed it on my cousin who plays amateur level, and i continusely left him for dead, then i went to play in a little game, and the opposition where like half as good as me, but my confidence went and a player came from behind and i just blanked and got tackled, i dont know why i tense up, is there any good ways to relax before a game so you can do your normal game??

finally, this problem SUCKS, my main asset is pace and fast feet, i do alot of tricks, elasticos ect and joe cole type roll moves, i am renowed to be a tricky player, i can do around the worlds and all of this, but i CANT do stepovers fast, my body moves all slow and crap when attempting just normal c.ronaldo stepovers, i read about stepovers and it suggests ladders and cones, but thats useless, my feet are rapid i just cant get stepovers in speed, is there a particular technique on stepovers or anyhting, advise on stepovers would be nice smile.gif

sorry for the NOVEL smile.gif any help wud be appriciated greatly guys

thanks in advance.. biggrin.gif

For the stepovers, just keep practicing. You'll get the hang of it once. Try to do it slowly first and then when you are doing it correctly speed it up and do it faster and faster. Eventually you'll get it.

Playing a real game and just playing against an opponent who's not 100% determained to get the ball or when you know what's coming are 2 totally seperate things. Stepovers are hardly usefull anyway. Just join a club to improve.

For your first point. if the crosses are flying over your head AND you are in the box in a good position, then it is the crosser who needs some training.
