Didier Deschamps is the new Juventus boss after he signed a two-year contract with the Italian giants on Monday.

The Frenchman was in pole position to replace Fabio Capello, after his departure to Real Madrid, and his appointment was completed today.

The 37-year-old returns to the club after serving the outfit with success in the 1990s as a quality midfielder.

During his playing days in Turin between 1994 and 1999, he won three Scudetti, a Champions League, an Intercontinental title and a European Super Cup.

Deschamps, who also has an option to renew his agreement for a third season, returns to management after he was sacked and replaced by Francesco Guidolin at Monaco last term.

It’s understood that Deschamps, who could possibly face life in Serie B next term, beat Roberto Donadoni and Alberto Zaccheroni to the job.

Not a bad replacement for Capello imo
But in the serie B i think juve needed an italian in charge
Zacceroni was the best candidate i thought

I think this is a great move for Deschamps. It should be easy oppostion at elast but if he doesnt, depending on point deductions, get Juve back into Serie A within 3 years from Serie C or 2 from Serie B, it could cost him his future as a potentially top class manager

I too think it is a good move for Deschamps. It is also a really nice gesture from him. He knows that Juventus will be relegated, yet he has not hesitated in taking the job, it shows his class.

excellent choice imo. He did a great job at Monaco and he has great potential as a manger. He is also already a hit with the juve fans from his playing days so he should fit right in.

A very interesting choice. Bring a former Juve man in charge. Don't know what will come of it but it does look promising. Too early to truely analyze.

Him being such a successful signing in the mid-late 90s must surely be a boost to the Juventus fans moral though, is it?

Its so down there at the moment i think that the fans dont deserve the shit they are getting and i think this glimmer of light and hope is deserved.

Yeah I've taken slack from people being a Juve fan. I didn't decide their board to use inappropriate actions to get ahead, neither did the players. Sometimes everything makes me feel ashamed.

and plus, he does have pedigree coaching and battling top-class european oppositions. Remember, he was the one who led monaco to the champions league final during his time there, so a coaching job in Serie B should be a relative walk-in-the-park for him.
