is this meant for little kids? this is a pretty weak preseason fitness training in opinion.

Jul 11 2006, 09:52 AM
for kids!!! if they do its classed as child abuse!!! trust me the 3/6/9 thing will kill you! if you want, you can do more sets etc try 5/10/15!!
it does work i use it for many of my adult pre season teams!

The training session has been attached by soccer coach.
Should note that running 2/3's of the pitch for a warmup before your initial stretch isn't the wisest thing. If it's rainy/cold at all, 2/3's really isn't enough to get your muscles warmed before stretching. Stretching cold muscles is dangerous and can actually lead to pulls or tears.
I also agree that it's a pretty beginner training program, although no doubt there'd be some benefit if you're at that level.

Is this a serious team of a bunch of adults that just get together to play at the park? the fitness regime is not top class i am sorry.

Well considering his talking about Pre-Season in england..he could get away with it cause its summer but i still agree with you, 2/3's of a pitch even for kids isnt sufficient enough
personally i hate doing laps as a warm up cause most people just breeze through it and it gets boring after the 3rd lap..i would create some type of football related game that isnt too physical but enough to get the body warm

guys, he means 2-3 laps if i got him right!

nope my team play in the top league and we are one of the top teams!
it can be used for any age, but i mainly do this with 15 years and older!
as for the 2/3 laps at the beginning this is to get the blood pumping around the body and you go at a very slow pace this means after the laps the body has pumed blood into the muscles then allowing the player so stretch properly. If you notice you dont just just stretch after your warmup you must stretch whenever you arent running or playing!
If you believe me then try it yourselves and see how you all get on!

Come on mate dont take the piss. if you dont want to do it like he says jus change it to whatever you think is necessary to you, there's no need to take to another level he's trying to help.

I bought this full season training plan off ebay, it includes 6 weeks pre-season and 30 weeks through the season. It's in powerpoint format which makes it easy to print off and take on to the training ground.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SOCCER-FOOTBALL-COAC...p3286.m63.l1177Dude buying a training plan ain't the way to go... do what best suits you and plan your own according to you, no peice of paper has the magic ingredients to superstardom
What if that plans all to do with sprinting, but you have really bad stamina?
