BERLIN, July 10 (Reuters) - Bayern Munich are ready to speak to Manchester United about signing Dutch striker Ruud van Nistelrooy, club chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has said.

"The player wants to come to us. We know that," Rummenigge said in a newspaper interview carried on Bayern's website on Monday.

"Now we will approach the thing with all calm. We have to speak with the player and naturally with Manchester United. But there are no grounds for haste."

Van Nistelrooy stormed out of the club after being omitted from United's final Premier League game last season having spent most of the latter part of the campaign on the bench.

He still managed to finish the season as United's top scorer with 21 league goals.

The 30-year-old striker scored once at the World Cup.

oh please, no! i think roy makaay is a good one. he is not the youngest, but playing all the games bayern has to, we need him. i hope he stays and with pizza, roque and poldi, we are fine. nooooo need for ruud. please, do not buy him. he is just over the peak and we do not need him. i hope he won´t come.

lol...man if Bayern gets him they'll win the league thos year with 20 points or so before place 2...they could finally get rid of those other strikers especially Pizarro and Santa Cruz
Cr. ronaldo
Bayren don't need him ... they have great strikers like podolsky , makay and pizzaro ... they donwt need another one , they need a midllefielder that's gonna play instead of michael ballack thumbsdownsmileyanim.gif

Bayern seem to never go for flashy big players, im curious to see if they willing to spend a few of those pennies they never want to spend. Then again they are not in debt and they are run like a real business.
Nistelroy has a great record if he comes then Poldi + Nistelroy will be unstoppable.

if they get ruud *looks like* makaay will leave. barca is looking for a replacement for larsson, who left. so roy would be perfect for them *god, i hate them so bad laugh.gif * he played with depor very good. so spanish league fits him well.

i do not see why we need ruud at all. actually, i do not even think he will fit the system at all. poldi will be playing behind the strikes, on the left side, pizza and ruud attacking, roy gone. santa cruz on the bench... i think that is not the best way. PLUS he is too old. selling one old player, getting the next old player.

i do not want him at bayern. or madrid laugh.gif

Ha...maybe they're banking on Dutch "total football" and looking to sign him as Ballack's replacement--or Kahn's. But, seriously, Bayern should be spending on a striker who compliments Makaay instead of one who is his double. That said, I won't be disappointed if Ruud comes to Munich; I value him higher than Podolski (who could learn a thing or two from a veteran like van Nistelrooy) and the Reds' South American strikers, and almost as highly as Makaay--and I'd rather see the money spent on a forward than on a veteran mid-fielder, who'd only push Bastian out to wing or onto the bench instead of letting him sieze his moment this year in center.

if ruud is coming, pizza or makaay will leave to hamburg, i read on the news. i do not like that idea so much. why do they need him? he is getting older and not really better. he has hardly played during the wc and he had a pretty poor season with man utd. yes, i know, so had makaay, but he is already adapted to the team and all. i think with pizza and makaay as strikers and poldi right behind them, it would be a good striking force.

i can see him coming to munich, playing with the number 9, so poldi has to take the 20... but that one is given away.

why do i worry about numbers??? laugh.gif

Podolski has the no 11 and Hamburg wont buy neither Makaay nor Pizarro, because their wages are to high for them.
I also think Bayern dont need RVN.They already have a small team basher with Makaay.
Bayern needs a RM if you ask me.You cant count on Deisler since most of the time he is injured or out of form and Salihamidzic is not the same anymore.

Ruud hardly played in Germany because MVB doesn't find him a good fit for the Dutch offense; that he would start Kuyt ahead of van Nistelrooy--and the too-predictable results such a move gave him in the end--shows you how little a player's worth can be based on his opinions as coach. And, as for his last season's play in the Premiership, he finished second in the league with 21 goals, finished third in their player-tracking standings, and was named to the EPL's Team of the Season. Sounds like a stellar year to me.

I haven't seen much from Podolski that puts him above Ruud. He is more prone to fits of inaccuracy and erratic shooting and is capable of disappearing from games; a year or two from now, he'll have come into his own and I won't be saying these things, but right now he's not starting material for Bayern--and definitely not capable of dictating pace so well as Bastian will playing forward from his center-midfield spot. Poldi strikes me as a good choice for super-sub, though--very energetic.

poldi is younger. he is a rising star, not a fading star like ruud. with poldi getting better *and he will* bayern can plan for the future. other than with ruud. he might play some years and then what???

i still think makaay would be the better choice.

and i do not think that the hsv can not pay pizza, they can pay van der vaart, right?

Are all Stuttgart supporters so concerned about Bayern's well-being?

Ha...just funning you. We're agreed that Makaay's the better choice, then; I'll say it's because he doesn't cost anything extra. The £20m transfer fee for van Nistelrooy would be better spent on a midfielder. I do like Ruud, though, and would enjoy seeing him as a Red--whether he's the smartest buy or not.

Bayern have Makaay, Podolski, Pizarro and Santa Cruz up front, a really promising combo in my eyes.
They probably need a big name signing, but definately no striker then.
Bayern already offer 17 million euros for Ruud, United want 22. Let's say they have an agreement at 20 million euros, Uli Hoeness gotta be kidding all Bayern fans to buy a striker who has few years left in him even he already has four good ones.
The only one I would like to get ríd of then is Santa Cruz, but I hope that Bayern won't sign Ruud.
He's not worth the 20 million just to get a so called big name IMO.

The £20m transfer fee for van Nistelrooy would be better spent on a midfielder.

Spot on, exactly my thoughts and I suppose of many other football fans as well.

banana.gif brazzo. he love that guy! and yes, they do not need ruud. investing into a midfielder would be a much better move, lets be honest, i never really liked ballack that much, but we need a replacement for him. oh yeah, lets go and hunt kaka. sofunny.gif oh one can dream.
RockinRaul
hooray!

ruud went to madrid *great dry.gif *

so now i hope bayern will stay with makaay, pizza and poldi. they would be a great attacking team. yes.
Zippo 1897
I don't see Podolski improving last year's nerve-racking 2-1 and 1-0 score lines like Ruud would have; I'm really starting to wish Bayern had ponied up the cash for him.
energy41
Bayern will have to change their playing style next season now that Ballack and Ze Roberto are gone so they could become more entertaining again.

As for Ruud, delighted that he didn't sign for Bayern beer.gif .
I don't have to understand anyway why he signed for Real who have 6(?) high profile striker now. Great management by them. laugh.gif
