EPL - Good representation of teams... Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal and Pool... have had two finalists in the past two CL campaigns
Serie A - Juventus, AC Milan are the dominant forces of Serie A and are always among the top teams in CL...
La Liga - Barcelona and Real Madrid. No other worthy mentions... Valencia looked decent a couple seasons ago...
Bundesluga - Meh.
French - Lyon are awesome..besides that...meh...

1. La Liga. Spanish sides have consistently challenged for (and won) UEFA's recent competitions. Villareal's appearance in the semi-finals was a prime example of the utter potency of Spain's first division teams in European play.

2. EPL. Coming in a not-quite-close second, the English league is the biggest showcase for talent from around the world--but the highest success in UEFA tournaments is considered an exception rather than the rule for these well-stocked sides.

3. Serie A. Second place in this list any other year, the Italian first division has been gutted by the relegation of Juventus, Lazio, and Fiorentina--three quality clubs (one more so than the other two, if I may say so myself) whose absence will be felt in the utter lack of competition faced by Milan, Roma, and Inter.

4. Bundesliga. Despite the knocks of nay-sayers--including their own left winger--Bayern are a top international side who play consistently into the late rounds of European competition. Dortmund, while not so potent a team, are not to be taken lightly; Bremen have also come on as of late as competitive.

5. Ligue 1. Saved from a sixth-place ranking (behind the Dutch Eredivisie) by Lyon's recent success, France's top sides are smaller challenges for their European opponents. There is a sharp drop in international competition from Lyonnais to PSG and Marseille.

1) Premiership

If Real were in the Premiership, they'd struggle for a top 4 finish imho. I don't think I'm being biased, here. A couple of years ago I would have said La Liga was the best league in the world but sides like Valencia & Madrid have declined heavily & Chelsea & Liverpool have risen greatly. Also players like Forlan & Reyes were a lot more dominant in La Liga than the Premiership.

Clubs like Sevilla & Villareal would be our equivalent of teams like Spurs & Newcastle, and they're pretty evenly matched.

Valencia would be around the same level as Arsenal in the EPL, Chelsea would be our answer to Barcelona (maybe not as good, but their squad can match Barcelona's squad)

Can't think of any other sides left to compare Liverpool or Man Utd to. EPL's top 6 teams overall would be stronger than La Liga's top 6, but La Liga would have a stronger bottom 14.

There was a worldwide survey done by skysports not so long ago, about what peoples favourite league was, the EPL was the overwhelming winner, with la liga a distant second.

Spain has dominating teams, Barca, Madrid, Valencia, A. Madrid, Deportivo, Sevilla, Villarreal, and Osasuna isn't bad.
Italy has a few teams who will play hard, Udinense, and Palermo from what i've seen, but they also have those big teams, Milan, Inter, Juventus, Fiorentina and Roma, but then again they have that scandal wrecking their reputation.
England has good teams, I don't even have to name them, but they all play with the same style, it might be tradition, but teams from Spain, Italy, and Portugal will beat them IMO, I don't want to start a fight over this but Chelsea struggled with Benfica, Benfica beat ManUtd, as ManUtd beat Benfica, and Benfica dominated Liverpool, although Liverpool put up a tough fight, please we have our opinions, don't get mad at mine.
French league is pretty decent, but I think the Portuguese could take them on, you can only judge a league if you see many games from them, i've seen a few games from the French league, they are quick, but I think the Portuguese could take them on, I refer back to the Portuguese alot because I think their league is very underrated, although French v. Portuguese league very tough to choose, I choose Portuguese league because I watch all their games, but I think they are equal.
Holland, fantastic league personally I like PSV & Ajax, but again I think the Portuguese will put up a good fight, Benfica v. AZ, Porto v. PSV, Sporting v. Ajax, Benfica being the weakest side out of the 3, this year IMO.

All leagues are fantastic in their own way, but if you think about it Spain is only rated number one because of those big teams, Real and Barca etc. but without players what do those teams have.. History and a name to remember smile.gif

Later.

Oh, I'm glad you could set me straight on that one. rolleyes.gif

mdj90, I think you forgot Germany. Although I can understand if you just ignored them. And don't forget about Feyenoord in the Dutch league. I know they like to make an ass of themselfs both nationally and internationally but they do have "some" quality and managed to win the UEFA cup in 2002.

The quality on show in the English league now, especially after the Italian scandle and the decline of Madrid (although they look strong again now) and then only really Barcelona being left in the Spanish league who makes a great team makes me believe England is by far the beas league in the world.

Valencia would put up a good fight in the Premiership especially after signing Simao, and Sevilla perhaps would be good but I think Villarreal would struggle to make top 6 if they were in the Premiership. Where as if you dropped a lower team from the Premiership into the Spanish league i think they could do alot better because there seems to be a huge gap between in the top 3 teams in Spain and the rest, where as in England theres the top 4, then from 5-11th is close and then from 11-20th is normally reasonably close too.

The Prem for me is the best.

Secondly it would be Spain, they have a couple of top teams, 1-2 mid teams and then quite alot of teams who just make up the numbers IMO.

Valencia, Barca and Madrid are the obvious big three, then you'd be looking at Sevilla and Villarreal and then the quality drops immensely. This league is alot better than the Italian league now so that makes it 2nd.

Italy would be the 3rd best league only because Lazio and Fiorentina were promtoed bakc up and AC Milan stayed, losing Juventus and alot of their players out of that league has caused a huge negative effect on it, i would of perhaps ranked it 3rd before in a very close tussle with Spain but now Spain is 10x better than Italy.

For the 4th choice league i'd probably go with Germany, just because they have some good teams like Munich, Bremen. Decent players play in that league although in losing Ballack alot of quality has left that league with just one player which shows the lack of depth in talent. It's a reluctant 4th i'm afraid.

5th would be the Championship for me, This league gets the 4th most fans in the world, Premiership gets the most fans a week and then Spain and then Italy and then the Championship! more than Holland/German/France top league games. This league is possibly the hardest league to come through just because of the equality between the top 10 teams, this league is split up into two sections the top 10 and the bottom 10, the top 10 are normally within 10 points of each other or atleast the play-offs and visa versa with the bottom 10 and relegation. The unpredictability of this league makes it exciting and there is still alot of quality in this league despite being second to the Premiership.

1. Premiership
2. La Liga
3. Serie A
4. Bundesliga
5. Championship

He said name the top 5 leagues in Europe, He never stated what to look for so i just mentioned which leagues i thought were the most exciting rather than ones with the best talent.

If he stated this in his first post i would of gone by it, but he never said so i posted my personal top five favourite leagues. If you disagree then that is fine and entirely upto you and your opinion smile.gif
