Seeing as there's now a whole forum for Atlético, I thought a thread about Kun would be appropriate (unless you can merge individual posts from the Atlético thread?), since he's probably going to be the team's best player this season.
Sergio Leonel 'Kun' AgüeroDate of Birth: 02-06-1988
Place of Birth: Buenos Aires
Height: 1,72 m
Weight: 74 Kg
Nationality: Argentine
Position: Forward
Previous Team: C.A. Independiente
Nickname: "Kun". Nickname comes from a Japanese cartoon series!

Aguero is the youngest player in Argentine top-flight history having made his senior debut aged 15 years, one month and five days.
"The truth is that everything's come a bit too quickly, but it's been wonderful. I get to do what I love, which is playing football. What more could I ask for?" says the fresh-faced youngster, who stands 1.72m tall and weighs 74kg.
Barcelona prodigy Lionel Messi, a team-mate and friend of Aguero's since the duo spearheaded Argentina's victory at last year's FIFA World Youth Championship in the Netherlands, talks about him "Sergio is a great player," he says. "He's powerful, he can shake off opponents, he's quick, strong, scores goals and is a team player. With him alongside me I feel ready for anything."
Despite starting on the bench in the final against Nigeria, it was Aguero's appearance as substitute which turned the game in favour of the Albicelestes, earning the penalty which led to their winning goal.
Diego Maradona told Spanish television station Cuatro on Monday that he believed Aguero was on a par with Barcelona's Argentine forward Lionel Messi. "The fact that people haven't seen much of him in Europe means he hasn't got the exposure that Messi has had," Maradona said. "But Aguero is just as good!"

I havent seen alot of this guy.
with the South American kids, i dont normally get to see them until they move to Spain, so hopefully Kun can live up to the hype. Anyway, I have a couple of questions from the first compilation that was shown there, seeing how im a linguistic nightmare and cant speak the Spanish. So if someone could just clear up, what the hell was going on in the bit with the scantily clad women? Is taht some Argie soccer AM or something? And also, what was with him crying after his booking against Boca?
Oh and what does El Kun actually mean? Is that what the Terrible referes to?

It says that the Kun's transfer is worth a grand total of 28 million dollars. Atlético pay 19 million dollars for 90% of the rights to Agüero without paying the last 10%, which is worth a minimum of 3.6 million euros. I'm not sure what "plusvalía" means, but that plusvalía is worth a minimum of 3.6 million euros as well. Kun's buyback clause (I think?) is 36 million euros. And I'm not positive what "indemnidad" means so I can't be sure there either. And then this contract is an official document, blah blah blah.

Futre likens Atletico Madrid whiz Aguero to Romario
tribalfooball.com - July 28, 2006
Paulo Futre has likened Atletico Madrid superkid Sergio Aguero to former Barcelona star Romario.
The Argentine teenager scored on his debut in a friendly this week against Energie Cottbus and former Atletico captain Futre gushed: "Aguero is the nearest I have seen to Romario in recent years.
"He is a player of great class and already has the presence of a major star. In addition, in one against ones, he is lethal and is developing very well. Hopefully he can have a great season and bring great joy to the fans."
Barcelona star Lionel Messi said of his former Argentina U20 teammate: "He is a great player and I have no doubt he is going to go far. He is a very cool striker, nothing fazes him.
"Aguero has a big future in Europe."

Have to say my favourite is the one where he sells as if he's about to shoot and just slips in between two defenders and calmly slots the ball. Commentator goes crazy, simply classy goal.

Don't know if anyone answered. but:
In that game against Boca he was one yellow card away from suspension and the idiot ref gave him a yellow, causing him to miss his last game at Home for Indipiendiente and a chance to properly say good bye to his dear club.
His dad called him Kun because he resembled a cartoon that goes by that name.

His stats in FM2006 are nowhere near his true abilities. He is much better than his stats suggest. Anyway, I just saw his goal against Cottbus and I can say that he is truly amazing. He is only 17 and he can play like that. I am looking forward to his perfomance in La Liga. Argentina's future looks bright with Aguero and Messi, I can't wait to see them playing together in the NT.

Assume he's played 45 minutes each game. 45 x 4 = 180 minutes. Three goals in 180 minutes equals out to three goals in two games. Who says I'm not good at maths?

Either way, he's forcing Aguirre's hand in handing him a starting role for the season, because the kid shouldn't be refined to a substitute role with the displays he's put on so far. What I've noticed about him in the footage I've seen is that his pace and power on the ball is something defenders don't know how to handle. Couple that with a touch of finesse and the boy causes pandemonium all over the pitch. Throw him a free role behind two forwards or playing off the front man where he can roam around the final third and pick up the ball just outside the box and he'll keep La Liga defenders on a leash for the whole season. The boy is spectacular, and the fact that he has such an eye for goal only further underlines the assumption that he's going to get 10+ goals this season
at least bar injury.
Could he overtake Torres as the golden boy? I would put money on Aguero outscoring Torres this season, and if not outscoring, benefiting Torres' play considerably with the link-up play he'll provide.
Hopefully he's suspended for the matches against Barça

Though I suspect our
world-class defence can take him.
Should be a treat for 2006-2007.

One thing's for sure, he'll have Ologuer in his pocket vs you guys!
His goals to games record has been very impressive so far and with Torres looking like he's close to full fitness already, there'll be a strong case for starting Aguero off Torres come La Liga. Kezman is looking unfit, overweight and, well, crap so I don't know how many chances he'll get, and we're yet to see Mista. Aguero could score anything up to around 20 goals if he destroys defences with this much ease, although when he comes up against Puyol, Cannavaro and co i'm not sure he will.

Don't worry Puyol will be too busy trying to cope with Torres pace like always.
I can see him giving Cannavaro and Ramos a hard time too.
rabbidogg
Aug 6 2006, 07:17 AM
Oh yeah he will give anyone a hard time there's no doubt about it, but if there's one defender that would keep him out of trouble it's Cannavaro. He's always been the best defender in the world in terms of anticipation, which is so vital against a quick trixky player like Aguero, but his performance in the World Cup just showed that his all round has moved to another level.
Puyol will be busy with Torres which would leave Aguero with Thuram Marquez, both of whom he could do for pace, or the young lad (I forget his name) who is supposed to be making a breakthrough this year. Not many of the big teams will be able to deal with Kun and Torres, that's for sure.
