4th game of the pre-season tonight against Mexican side Chivas Guadalajara. The team hasnt really shown much in the first 3 games so will be looking for an improvement tonight and a couple of goals would ease the fears of the panic merchants who fail to see the bigger picture when it comes to pre-season. personally I would rather the team played better regardless of the result. theres no point in winning 2-0 and not playing well in pre-season so I'd take another defeat so long as the team plays better together as a unit.

game is on setanta so stayinh up to watch it and will post team news and match updates in due course

Strong team. Only missing Boruc, Naka and Maloney. Chivas will well and truly be up for it, wonder if Strachan has sorted the bhoys out yet.

Go on Chivas! wink.gif

playing on an astroturf pitch and a ball which looks like a fly-away, with has a ridiculous bounce, just waitin on a Chivas player skelpin in from 40 yards and it bouncing over Marshall wink.gif

EDIT: missing Magic as well Macca

Billy McNeill talking Celtic up, saying so far its an improvement but for me, 26 mins into the game and no goalscoring opportunities is no better than anything we've seens so far pre-season

half time 0-0

the most exciting thing about this game has been the lovely bottle of Kronenbourg I'm enjoying as to be honest there hasnt been much to speak of, although Marshall did pul off a superb early save. in terms of going forward theres been a lack of creativity, Riordan not getting on the ball enough and Miller not had any supply from the midfield. Jarosik and Pearson anonymous which is why we're not posing any threat. gotta get forward more !

c'mon the hoops !

next goal wins, listening to that guy at half time, he says : " the games being played in joorsay" lol, i had a laugh at that, but yer, i think whoever scores the next (first) goal then i think they may just be the winner, hopefully not because i wanna see a good game...

lookin a bit more attacking at the beginning of the 2nd half, need to test the keeper tho !

finished 0-0, good performance in the 2nd half from Celtic. was important tonight for Celtic not to be shipping goals at the back but still not scored in 4 games, which proves that a goalscorer is needed. Marshall was great between the sticks, McGeady was at the heart of most attacks and the defence lookd steadier than previously.

next step is a goal against New England Revolution on the 20th, which I'll be watching in a bar in Gran Canaria beer.gif
Macari.
How did Pearson and McGeady play?

Edit: 'McGeady was at the heart of most attacks' eh? Interesting... g.gif

please god dont take McGeady off us, have Pearson he's bollocks !
Macari.
Is he really, last I heard he was a top youngster.

Granted that was a couple of years ago under O'Neil mind.

I remember hearing Fergie was having him scouted when he was at Motherwell.

How bad is Pearson right now then, would you prefer Darren Fletcher?

Also, I take it you rate McGeady highly then?
Macca
Fletcher is 10 times the player Pearo is. He has an attitude problem and his career has completely gone downhill since he left Fir Park. At first it was thought O'Neill and his coaches had a bust up with him, but he hasn't got a chance under Strachan either. Would be good at another SPL club, just nowhere near Man Utd quality.

Either is 'Aideninho' imo, but Celtic fans will disagree. He is a fat wee ned who pulls a cracking wee trick out of the book now and again, but doesn't perform regularly enough to make it at a top club. Certainly not a patch on wee Maloney who is surely destined for great things.

As I said, Celtic fans will disagree about McGeady, so cue the onslaught from v_ster. wink.gif

what do u think I am Macca, some sort of tyrant g.gif

I just think McGeady is an outstanding talent, with an array of tricks that rival the most skilful players around. I mean how many players can do the Ronaldinho flip-flap ? However, he still has a long way to go to be good enough for a move to someone like Man U. But he's only just turned 20, so time is most certainly on his side. At only 18 he carried us through long spells in Martin O'Neill's last season when he was the only player in the team who could play a defence splitting pass or even take a player on. Had an injury-disrupted campaign last year, having started to become a key player in the team after a bad start.
I'm realistic though in that I've seen far too many young prospects at Celtic disappear off the radar but I think McGeady has a real chance of going on to better things. However, he has to keep his feet on the ground, work hard and has to start bossing games. If McGeady and Maloney play well together then we are an entirely different proposition. I just hope Celtic can hold on to him as in 5 years time I think he could be a real asset
