Giuseppe Rossi will be the FUTURE OF AMERICAN SOCCER!... he already at a major attacker for Man. U at the age of 18. an italian american born in New Jersey, USA, has a decision soon whether he will be on team USA or Italy, he has played in italy's U-19 team but had interest in joining USA in '06 but he was never invited. Arena was blind believing he didnt need forwards, Klinsmann will not make this mistake, and has to go after Rossi now. Rossi, with dempsey, Johnson, and Adu will make a wonderful front for the americans. we need to ATTACK ATTACK!....score goals and gain the respect of the world and our own people. more goals and actions will bring in people who believed the sport to be too slow. and will bring millions to the sport and increase american success in the future.

Yeah perhaps he might look at us more if we get a great coach. But having Italy just winning the WC, I doubt we would win the battle.
I heard he has something like a couple of years to decide. Well, Im not waiting for a miracle. Like Adu, if they dont want to rep the US then forget them.

I share your enthusiasm, but he is hardly a major attacker at Man United... having only played about 2 games, one off the bench. He scored on his debut though, so he is definitely a big part of our future. I too think he should play for USA because they have a lot of potential and he will play more games, and Italy NT tend to prefer players who play in Serie A. Plus he will have to wait like 4-5 years to replace Totti (the position behind the striker), and that's IF they dont have someone more talented and experienced lined up..

if the USA wants any chance of success in the future they will get a foreign coach and nurture Adu and Rossi like crazy

isn't Rossi just basically waiting for Italy to make the call that will never come? wasn't this brought up months ago?

I don't want anyone on the team who doesn't feel strongly enough for the country to choose them outright. Rossi is a great young player, but if his heart is with Italy than he can stay there.

Rossi is just not another player for Italy, he would be a star there too. Sir Alex Ferguson called him the greatest pure scorer he has ever seen. That is some high praise. But Rossi is out of reach for us, he wants to play for Italy and thats what he is going to do. He has two years to change his mind, but it doesnt look like that will happen.
We don't have to suck up to anyone, if Freddy wants to leave let him. Then I would love to play Ghana in South Africa. Italy too if Rossi is there, hell we could just get the same group again.

Rossi was invited to play in the US's pre world cup friendly with Scotland(cant remember when exactly) but he did not accept the invite and now that Italy won the world cup i think we can kiss him goodbye.

Now that lippi is supposedly going to be the Man Utd. assistant coach, we can kiss him bye bye.

Burn all the glumness people...Our future strikers are looking good. Let him go to Italy or wherever, as time progresses we will forget about him and see all the talent pop up over the next couple of yrs.

He's going to play for Italy. Even on the Manchester United website it says his international team is Italy.

I doubt that Rossi will play for USA, but that would be pretty cool if he did. A little bit off-topic, but I happened to watch MLS playoff game between DC United and NY/NJ Redbulls. Redbulls had a 16 year old kid from NJ named Jozy Altidore who already scored 3 goals in 7 appearances. He also scored in the game that I was watching.
With Klinsmann possibly as a coach and his more unconventional way to go with a young and fast attacking team, USA could have something to work with in the future.

Parma 'agree loan deal for Rossi'
Manchester United striker Giuseppe Rossi has joined former team Parma on loan until the end of the season, the Italian club website has reported.
The American-born 19-year-old has scored four goals in 12 games for United and spent the first half of this season on loan at Newcastle.
He moved from Parma to United in 2004 and scored nine minutes into his Premiership debut in August 2005.
Parma are struggling in 19th place in Italy's Serie A.
Sir Alex Ferguson is clearly a fan of the Italian U21 striker, and was hoping he would get valuable first-team experience at Newcastle, but he only started five games.
"Even though he did not have a lot of games, he still comes back to us with a bit more experience and a bit of quality," said Ferguson.
From BBC
I don't see Rossi ever leaving Italy now. He'll probably secure a transfer over the summer and be playing with the Italian National Team in a year or two.

Rossi playing for Italy has been a forgone conclusion for a while. Not that big of a deal, seeing how I think he's vastly overrated. If he can't earn a spot at Old Trafford with the injury problems they've been having lately, he can't be that good. He probably will stay at Parma after the loan, seeing how Man U now has Rooney, Saha, Solskjaer, Larsson, Dong, and Smith to play up front with Klose possibly on the way. I still say the Reds would've been extremely well off now had they kept Kenny Cooper, but nothing I can do about that.
