Well, in light of recent events, Juve, Milan and Fiorentina will no longer be involved in Champion's League footbal. Instead, Roma and Inter will proceed automatically to the group stages and Chievo and Palermo will take the remaining qualifying spots. This could have massive repercussions on Italian football, but concering European football how will this affect Italian club's chances next season. Neither Chievo nor Palermo were looking at CL football next season and they've now been plunged in at the deep end, can they handle it?

Personally, I dont think they will be able to make it. But we said that about Villarreal as well.
These Italian teams will need a strong team ethic to get through, and this will also depend on the groups that they go into.
I feel, this may well make it easier for the 'bigger' clubs, like United, Barca, Madrid, Liverpool, and the likes of Lyon, Benfica and Porto to progress through the rounds, should they meet relativly 'easier' opposition to Juve and the likes.

Palermo should be pretty well covered i reckon. They still have Zaccardo and Barzagli in defence who are very good players, they have Barone who is OK in CM but they have now signed Bresciano and Simplico to play as attacking midfielders who had very impressive seasons for Parma last season. Add Di Natalie who they signed at Christmas last year who was instrumental in dragging from treh relegation polaces up to the then UEFA cup spots and you have a very good spine. They have also signed 2 or 3 others who are good versatile squad players. Oh and Aimo Diana from Sampdoria who just missed out on a WC spot, though i reckon he should have gone, who is very good at scoring from midfield.
Chievo, im not such a fan of and i think they will struggle. Plus their wonder kid, Obinna may be banned for 4-6 months for illegally leaving his last club.

Chievo of course will have problems but Palermo will be fine, they have alot of good talent and the president has put 35million to spend on transfers and this was before they got the CL spot.

Roma and Inter have incredible squads.
Roma might look something like this:
-----Montella-----Mido-----
------------Totti-------------
--Perrota---------Mancini--
----------De Rossi----------
-Chivu-Kuffour-Mexes-Panucci-
-----------Curci--------------
That is as good as and better than most English and Spanish teams.
Inter are on the verge of signing Vieira and have made some fantastic signings already.
I think these two teams will do Italy very proud.

You can add Arsenal to that list.
Inter Milan will be stronger then Juventus was lasts season. Inter have a very good chance with their signings. With a month of the transfer window still left they could get stronger.
Roma have a decent team too.
For my team i dont really mind any Italian teams relegated or not. Italian teams have rarely troubled Arsenal, not trying to be cocky but we normally embarras them.

I'll be interested to see more spot-light on Inter, Roma, and Palermo. Chievo I think will see UEFA Cup very shortly, but they might surprise us a bit. I'm really looking forward to see Inter do as well as they did this past season, if not progress. I would also like to see Roma progress further than they have in the past. Hopefully Palermo will make a name for themselves. It'll be great to see Serie A clubs rebuild their name for our games sake, and for the country's domestic cause.
Good luck to all the teams.
