Hi all,

sorry to hear about the sad news about being in seria B.

But i was just wondering if some of you could tell me a little about Nedved and if he is till a good player? because now as, expected most of your players will leave and Nedved has been linked to my club tottenham, could you all tell me, if he still is a great player or is he over it now?

Cause i saw him in the world cup and i thought he looked just as good as he always has done, he has bags of energy.
urbanlegend
He is still quite talented. I don't know if he's as hot as he was in the 2003ish season when he won the Golden Ball, but he is still a great asset to any team. The blonde locks still make him stand out tongue.gif

Hes a Great player.. But at the same time hes a Diver

Not to mention how frequently he gets really hit hard, how often he plays carrying injuries, how often he gets injured in the middle of games from terrible challenges. Nedved is one player who doesnt deserve a divers rep.

I just heard from Skysports.com that apparently Buffon and Nedved are willing to saty in Serie B next season. Not sure how much i believe that to be honest

Juventus’ promotion bid has been rocked by a five-match ban handed to star midfielder Pavel Nedved.

The former Czech international was handed the severe punishment after he was sent-off in injury time of Friday’s 1-1 draw with Genoa following his stamp on Francesco Bega.

“Nedved, in the 47th minute of the second half, voluntarily trod on his opponent’s ankle,” read an official note from the disciplinary commission.

“And after being consequently sent off by the referee, offended him and stamped on his foot, with no damaging consequences.”

The Old Lady of Italian football, already dealing with an injury crisis, are expected to appeal against the sentence.

Meanwhile, Napoli have received a one-match home ban plus a fine following the problems encountered on Saturday during the home game with Frosinone.

The Partenopei supporters threw flares and fireworks into the stands and on to the pitch, causing the game to be suspended on two occasions.

The Azzurri, top of the Second Division, will now be forced to play the next match at the San Paolo Stadium with Mantova behind closed doors.

Turning to the Serie A suspensions, 11 players have been given one-match stops after the Week 14 ties.

Shote, i knew i had something rare to say in here. The Nedved incident! Seems to be awfully harsh to suspend him if its just for the misconduct, ie the offending of the ref and stomping his foot. Now i havent seen the incident to be fair ive only read one other report cant remember where. But i think i read it differently as well. Did Nedved step on the refs foot? Because that is what i read on the other report which very possibly could be wrong!

However if the 5 match ban is for violent condut, stamping on the dudes ankle, well than thats fair enough. Thast a very dangerous thing to do although i must say it is very unlike Pavel nedved to do something like that deliberately
Bruno_Hott
SHIT a great trouble for juventus!

wow.gif that's not the nedved i know. it'll hurt juve for shure. i'm just so surprised. you could tell me anyone who could possibly end up receiving a 5 match ban. but nedved? *sigh.

i'm sure Bojinov can also play on the wings and he's got a pretty good cross.
dreamlander
Plus Valeris long range power shots are incredible. Something Nedved also has in his artillery. I'm sure Juve can cope alright, but it will make for a small bump in Juventus' march to the Serie A again

Well, my love for Juventus is weaker than a mouses fart in a tornado, but i cant deny that they have had some quality players in their time. For that reason i have decided that this thread will be re named the Pavel nedved thread, where we can pay homgae to one of the best European attacking midfielders of all time. A man who gives his all for his club, country, fans and team mates. A man with skill, flair and grace as well as devastating shooting power. All stand up and applaud....PAVEL NEDVED.

I have 2 bits of news on him, both from channel4.com, one is good news, the other, for both me and Juve fans, is bad!

Here's the good news first:

Nedved continues legal battle
Thursday 14 December, 2006
Juventus and Pavel Nedved are going to the CAF to lodge a new appeal after his five-match Serie B ban was confirmed.

“We feel very aggrieved, because we hoped for a substantial reduction of the ban, which we continue to consider excessive,” said director of sport Alessio Secco.

“This is why we have decided to stage another legal motion in the Federal Court of Appeal.”

Nedved was handed the five-match ban after his red card in the 1-1 draw with Genoa, as he was accused of stamping on referee Stefano Farina’s foot in his protests after the incident.

The Czech hero and 2003 Ballon d’Or winner has sat out one game and won’t be eligible to play at club level again until early 2007.

Its real weird how this incident seems to have blown up. I havent read or seen any concrete proof that he did actually stomp on the refs foot. I have only heard "appeared to" or "allegedly". Its pretty stupid as this is something that should be pretty clearcut!!!

And now, for the bad, and the reason why i thought this thread needed to be named now!!!

Nedved may Czech out
Thursday 14 December, 2006
Frustrated Juventus ace Pavel Nedved has confirmed that he may hang up his boots at the end of the season.

The Czech made the insinuation after his dismissal against Genoa and has today warned that the current calcio climate is becoming hard to accept.

“I don’t know if I will continue or not, this is not a joke,” he told Tuttosport. “Juventus have changed, but they are the only ones. The rest of the footballing world is exactly the same as before.

“After the summer, referees have decided that when in doubt they will decide against us. They must be thinking that we can suffer a bit now.

“In any case, this does not change my attitude – I am training with the same dedication and passion as before,” concluded the 2003 Golden Ball winner.

Nedved was handed a five-match ban following his Marassi red card when he was found guilty of offending referee Stefano Farina and voluntarily stepping on his foot after being sent off.

An amazed Juventus have lodged an appeal with the verdict expected to be handed out on Thursday.

“I am still very upset about what happened,” continued Nedved. “I was hoping I would forget about it but that is not the case.

“I am a very honest person and I am not saying that what I did wasn’t wrong. I did not behave well with Farina and I was not a good example for the young people who were watching the match.

“I was very angry and I moved aggressively towards the referee to complain, but I never offended him and I never stepped on his foot voluntarily – his report did not state the truth.

“I do not know what to expect from today’s verdict. I never thought I would receive a five-match ban as it’s a very severe punishment.

“I have already said this in the past, but Zinedine Zidane was only banned for three matches and he head-butted Marco Materazzi – this just doesn’t make sense.”

Juventus are hoping to get Nedved’s ban reduced to three games.

A sad state of affairs, that Nedved is being "victimized" of all people from the Juve camp. Its very serious if the referee has actually done what Pavel says he has done. It would be very out of character for Nedved to take his protestations that far!!!

Anyways, with the unfortunate possability that the former Czech republic captain may be retiring from all footabll at the end of the current season, i fell people need to pay respect to him in his own thread!

Nedved loses fresh appeal
Thursday 21 December, 2006
Juventus have failed in their latest appeal against the five-match ban handed to star midfielder Pavel Nedved.

The Czech was given the severe punishment after he was sent-off in injury time during the December 1 match with Genoa for stamping on opponent Francesco Bega.

He then reacted violently to referee Stefano Farina, offended him and voluntarily stamped on his foot, as confirmed by the report submitted to the League’s disciplinary commission.

“The foul on his opponent was judged as violent and voluntary by the referee. As to the following reaction, the report does not leave any margins for interpretation,” read an official statement.

“The player moved towards the referee with a threatening manner, complaining and voluntarily stepping on his left foot.”

Juventus had decided to lodge an initial appeal against the verdict, considered unfair, but were denied.

They then went up in front of the CAF court who this evening have decided against adjusting the sentence.

The former Lazio player has already missed two games, against Verona and Bologna, and will be ruled out Friday’s tie against Arezzo.

Bit of a shame that. He seems to have taken on the absolute wrath of the CAF in this case which is a bit harsh considering he doesnt have a bad disciplinary record in the past. That should surely count for something in this case!!!

Nedved’s quit threat
Tuesday 10 July, 2007
Czech midfield veteran Pavel Nedved is considering quitting football after the Bianconeri refused to meet his wage demands.

Although the 34-year-old’s contract expired at the end of last season he had been expected to spend one more year in Turin, however now it appears that salary negotiations have stalled.

“If Juventus’ offer doesn’t increase it is possible that Nedved will quit,” agent Mino Raiola insisted. “Today there was no agreement and I don’t know whether Pavel will turn up to pre-season training.”

The difference between the ex-Lazio winger’s demands and the offer on the table is believed to be around £550,000 with Nedved insisting he should be rewarded for accepting a large pay cut three years ago.

“He’s a player that doesn’t cause trouble and is a great role model in the Juve camp,” Raiola continued. “It amazes me that they would risk losing him, but he’s not being treated in the same way as other players.”

Raiola is probably referring to David Trezeguet whose recent contract renewal earned him around £3m as a signing on fee while Nedved has only been offered £2m.

A decision should be made in the next week, but the Czech star is planning to take some time to weigh up his options.

“I’m a bit disappointed and I’ll have to consider retirement,” he revealed. “I’ve listened to the club’s offer and now I’m going to take some time to think.”

Bit of a strange one to comment on. Nedved has gotten older and his performances have dropped undeniably. I do think he can still offer something to the club, but whether or not he will be as valuable as Trezeguet, I am not sure!

On the other hand, how Trezeguet, a guy who moaned and whinged his way through last season demanding a transfer to anywhere (Boca Juniors even suggested at one point), can be given more cash than Nedved the loyal servant who took a pay cut as mentioned in the article, is a bit of a mystery to me!

Nedved is getting forced out. I don't think he fits in with what the club wants anymore. The new Directors want to buld a new team. Besides Nedeved accepted juventus in Serie B because he knew no other big club would want him. Trezegeut knows many big clubs want him so he was just looking out for his career. While in Serie B Trezegeut was dropped from the France national team as well.
spritepac
trezeguet has had one of the most unlucky careers in the world. 2 seasons ago he was sitting behind ibrahimovic and del piero and then he gets a chance to shine in serie b. He missed the pk which cost france the world cup and now dropped by france. great player but unlucky.

i thenk pavel nedved still a great player

Happy Birthday Pavel Nedved 35 today birthday.gif
Juve.
IS IT JUST ME to say Nedved past his time? I say, bench him and bring in Benzema, Riquelme or Ben Arfa in January.
dreamlander
He is defintiely past his best, and probably should be phased out about now. This will almost certianly be his last season, but they guy is a legend in the Czech Republic, in Europe and definitely in the Serie A. A great leader and one who I hope goes out on something of a high!
Electro Head
I hope he gets 1 more season to play in the Champions League for us. He stayed with us when we went down when he could have easily left to play Champions League football. The only thing I'd love more than Juve winning the Champions League would be winning it with Nedved.
Il Fenomeno Vero
yeah pavel deserves one more season... a complete season involving Ucl and league.
