Atlético B
Atletico B is the club's top youth team. The league system in Spain allows club's 'reserve teams', consisting of of youth players, to play in professional leagues. Atletico B currently play in Division 2B Group 1, a group the side won in season 2003/04.
Unfortunately, the team missed out on promotion the Spanish Second Division in the final group play-off stage. In 2004/05, the team finished 6th, missing the play-offs by just 3 points.
Atletico B regularly provides players for the club's first team. Young talents like Antonion López (full Spain International), Francisco Molinero (Spain U-20 & U-21), Ivan Cuéllar (Spain U-22), Braulio Nobrega (Spain U-18, U-19 & U-22) and Raúl Medina all played for the first team in season 2004/05.
Atletico Madrid also provides players, through a system of season long loans, to several league teams. The season long loans are an opportunity for young players to gain top flight experience at other league sides. During 2004/05; Gabriel Fernández "Gabi" (Spain U-21), Javier Arizmendi (Spain U-21), José Verdú "Toché" (Spain U-21) and Manu del Moral (Spain U-20) all have played on loan to other clubs.

Atlético Youth Teams
Atletico Madrid currently has nine youth sides. Players range from 8 to 18 and teams play in leagues against teams from all over Spain. The youth teams are regular winners of their respective leagues, with the best players gradually moving up the sides until they reach the first team. Atletico Madrid's youth sides are regarded as being amongst the best in Europe and regularly participate at top international tournaments all over the continent. All the players who form part of the B team, and the other youth sides, look up to Fernando Torres, a homegrown talent and current captain of Atletico Madrid Football Club.
The Football School
The football school is the first step for young players looking to follow in the footsteps of Fernando Torres. The young boys train in two schools based in Orcasitas and Casarrbuelos (both in Madrid). The coaches in these schools closely follow the progress of the young players, helping them develop both on and off the pitch.

Marcos Martín: “This is the reward for my daily work; I’m very happy”
Marcos Martín was one of the players from the youth team who started against Albacete, and he did it well. The rojiblanco player was very happy. “I’m very happy to have made my debut in the first team. My team-mates have taken me in really well and it was disappointing not to win, which is what you want on your debut, but we will stay with our work”.
He also had a word for the youth team, one who Javier Aguirre is counting. “The boss is using us is training as well as matches and we hope to continue here, showing that he can count on us”.
On his thoughts on what he will take from his debut game, Marcos said that “the match in general because it was the day of my debut and my family were in the stands watching me. They were more nervous than I was. They put their holidays on hold for this game”.
Lastly, the youth player recognised this day as “the fruit of my daily work. This year I began to train with the first team and it is a prize to be here, although if after all I can’t be with the first team I’ll play in Atletico B and do the best I can to get the team high in the table”.

Quique Estebaranz, new Director of the School of FootballFrom:
clubatleticomadrid.comThe School of Football has had a change of Director after the retirement of Victor Peligros. His role has been taken over in an in-house substitution, Enrique Estebarenz, a former youth player who returned to lead Atletico Madrid in the National League and the Atletico Youth Team in the ‘División de Honor’ for three years.
Estebaranz has signed a contract for his new position that lasts three seasons. Just in he has already crossed paths with new signing Jurado, who he has memories of when the then Real Madrid player was playing against Quique’s Atletico in the National League. Quique wished the player a lot of luck in his new stage with the rojiblancos.
Quique formed part of Atletico Madrid’s youth team for one season, and four more with Atletico Madrileño, the B team. Later his sporting career was highlighted with goals, in the Primera división and in the Segunda. Top scorer in the Segunda with Racing (88-89), four years with Tenerife who took two League title from Real Madrid, League winner and Champions League finalist with Barcelona (93-94) and two years with Sevilla (94-96) finishing with Extremadura (96.97), Ourense (97-99) and Gimnástica Segoviana (99-00).
The new Director is looking forward to his new challenge. In comments made to Atletico’s webpage, Quique Estebaranz stated that “it is something different to what I have done up to now, although I will still be going out onto the training pitches. I take this on with enormous pride. I have just started and I am looking at what we can do to make the most of the great players we have here”.
To supervise the work that they do in the School of Football is to work with the essence of how to strengthen rojiblanco grassroots football. The coach said that “I aim to carry out a function integral to the players, not just sporting, but educational and human. We want to be a school in all its meanings. We all, parents, players, coaches and educators have to have it clear.”

Atletico Madrid B striker David Rodriguez is drawing comparisons with club captain Fernando Torres.
The 20 year-old has already scored three goals this season and has been with Atletico for nine years.
"I am proud that I am compared with him (Torres)," said David. "But what I have in my mind is the team, Atletico B, to show that I can be useful.

We really should start to look at this guy, with Kezman now gone we have few options in forward position and with Braulio and Toche on loan, David could become our 4th choice striker. He'll get a 1st team place soon enough, i'm certain of that.

Four reserve players train with the first team squad
Atletico Madrid returned to training satisfied after getting the victory and the three points on Sunday against Sevilla. The Mexican coach, Javier Aguirre prepared a session for the players who started on Sunday except for Costinha who trained with those who were not in the starting eleven.
Gabi who is in hospital undergoing tests after a traffic accident, and Cuéllar who has pulled a muscle, were the only absentees from the session.
On the other hand, those who were exercising with the first team squad were Ballesteros, Galán, Marcos Martín and Matías, who took part in all the training which finished in a game across the width of the pitch

From what i've heard we have some excellent young talent and always boast players in the Spanish national team at various levels. Hopefully some of these youngsters will benefit from this inclusion and learn from there hero's and become the next Fernando Torres' and Antonio Lopez's.

Salamanca warn Deportivo off Braulio
tribalfooball.com - November 29, 2006
Deportivo La Coruna are seeking a new striker.
Depor are in talks with Atletico Madrid for Braulio, who is currently starring on-loan at Salamanca.
The Segunda Liga club are furious with Depor's interest and a spokesman said yesterday: "A contract was signed and it is necessary to fulfill it. The lack of seriousness and respect to Salamanca hurts us. His agent (Juanma Lopez) told our technical director that Depor and Atletico had agreed a deal, but that doesn't mean anything until we give our approval.
"Braulio does not move from here."
I think Braulio is a very decent striker and I have no doubt that had been in our B squad at the start of the season rathewr than on loan at Salamanca, he would've already been given his chance in the first team and performed pretty well. As things stand he is performing well in Salamanca and we would be foolish to sell now, unless for a very decent price, until he has proved that he isn't good enough for us.
The last young B team striker we sold was Arizmendi (also to Depor) and he has had an excellent start to the season and even been named in the National squad. I believe Braulio is a better player than Arizmendi and to see him l;eave and go on to achieve similar success, of which there is every chance as he is only 21, would be a terrible piece of business for the club.
I say let him stay and try and prove his value before letting him move on. He may develop into a very capable reserve player at the least.

Joel, the keeper from Atletico Juvenile A, saved two penalties, and scored a goal! His goal was a kick over 80m that landed in the goal, I believe.

Has any of you seen a kid called Antonio Cerrajero in your youth team? In FM he is not only an amazing talent, he is a wonderful passer of the ball and very intelligent, reminds me alot of Cesc! I love Antonio Cerrajero

Since he's 17 he's a regular in my squad, as a central defensive midfielder, though he can also play CB, CM and AMC. Because of his vision and creativity he always has high ratings. He's already better than Costinha, Maniche, Luccin etc. In my team full of worldplayers, he's the only unknown player, but he's my favorite one in my FM game. But back on topic, I know nothing about him

As some of you might know the European Championship for players has been played in Belgium. Spain were the deserved winners. Barcelona's Bojan Krkic and Arsenal's Fran Merida where the ones that got the most attention, but there were four Atlético players too, who had an important role.
The Rojiblancos were Pichu Atienza, David de Gea, Ignacio Camacho and Sergio Rodríguez. I've to admit that before the tournament I only knew Camacho, a promising defensive midfielder, who is btw Spain U17's captain.
In the first match vs France (2-0) De Gea, Camacho and Sergio Rodríguez played.
In the second match, vs Ukrain all our players started. Camacho scored the 1-0.
Camacho (center) celebratingIn the last match in the groupphase, against Germany (0-0), Pichu, De Gea and Camacho played.
In the semi final the same three played. Goalkeeper De Gea had a vital role. The match ended in 1-1, and in the penalty shootout the young goalkeeper saved the decisive 7th penalty. Spain had been playing with 10 men since the 50th minute, after Atléti youngster Pichu was send off with 2 yellows.
In the final the three Rojiblancos played, Pichu was suspended. After a goal scored by Bojan, and some great saves by De Gea Spain took the title.
Camacho was the one that caught my eye, a real hard working defensive midfielder, who isn't afraid to pick up a yellow. He actually did that a couple of times

Congratulations guys!

About time for a little update, we've played 7 matches so far, and Atlético B is doing quite well.
We won our last match with 2-1, against Alcorcón. Batres scored a brace, and is now the pichichi in the Segunda B. I'm glad that my boy Ignacio Camacho got a starting place in this match; he is slowly becoming a regular in the team.
The ranking in the Segunda B can be found here:

Spain battling Argentina for Atletico Madrid whiz Pacheco
tribalfooball.com - October 15, 2007
Spain are set to battle Argentina for Atletico Madrid whizkid Pacheco.
The young striker has been called into Argentina squads at youth level, but is still to be capped and has expressed interest in playing for Spain.
Atletico coach Javier Aguirre rates Pacheco highly and has involved him in senior training this season.

German Pacheco is a highly highly rated youthplayer, who has trained with the first team on several occassions yet. As a 15-year old Pacheco and his parents moved to Madrid from Argentina last year, he played with Vélez before that. His idols are Ronaldinho and Mauro Zaraté. Pacheco plays hanging on the left wing, and likes to play close to the goal. His main attribute are his fast powerful steps he says

And he likes to do bycicles !
The reason that Pacheco is in the news now, is that he got his Spanish passport and wants to play for Spain, while Argentina wants him to play for the country where he was born. Spain seems to have a new "Bojan", although Pacheco has been summoned for Argentine youthteams before, but never made his debut for an Argentine nor a Spanish national youthteam.
It's really hard to find info on this fella, but he's either 15 or 16 years old, and if he's as good as these articles say, then we'll hear about him soon enough. At the moment he's in our Juvenil team.
---
P.s. I had to translate a small part in my webtranslator. Found out that "Pacheco" means "marijuana user"

Batres and Álex Quillo, red-and-white hearts in the first squad
Javier Aguirre has decided to call up two players from Atletico B for the match against Lokomotiv, Batres and Álex Quillo. They are two players from the Atleti youth program, who have begun the season strongly as their team currently occupies fifth place in Group I of Second Division B. Both have red-and-white hearts, with fire running through their veins thanks to the years that they’ve spent moving up through the Atletico de Madrid developmental squads.
Batres arrive at Alevín A of the Football Base after coming from Carabanchel. He was born in Madrid 21 years ago and always supported by his family, especially by his father, to play football. He’s a player of incredible skill, who has always stood out in all of the youth squad teams. He coincided with Álex Quillo at Juvenile A and at Atletico de Madrid Juvenile Honour Division, with Abraham García as manager. Batres, who was already at that juvenile squad, stood out in the prestigious Marseille (France) tournament, in which Atletico proclaimed themselves champions and Roberto was named tournament MVP. Batres plays as a second striker and is the leading scorer for Atletico B this season with 8 goals.
Álex Quillo, on the other hand, arrived from the city where he was born, La Línea de la Concepción, then passed through to Atletico Zabal and arrived at Cadete B when he was 14. Álex had a tough time his first year, away from his family and friends, but he quickly adapted to his new life in Madrid and left his stamp both on and off the pitch. He’s made a spot for himself in the Atletico B starting line-up this season and his devotion each match came together for the leveling goal in injury time in the match that the second team drew in Lanzarote, 3-3.
The two players, in statements made to the Atletico web page, appeared happy and excited with this new adventure. Batres was included in the squad last season against Betis, but didn’t play, while Álex Quillo is debuting in a squad list with the first team.
Batres acknowledged that “its a prize for the good start of our team and my personal play. Being called up by the first squad is prize enough and we have to enjoy this moment. This is the greatest things that could happen to me in my career as a footballer”.
For his part, Álex Quillo affirmed that “it’s a dream that I’ve chased since I arrived from Cadiz. I’ve played in friendlies with the first team but this is an official match and, as Batres said, it’s a prize for the work done by everyone on Atletico B. It’s a happy day in my life. I’ve been looking for this moment since I was a child. This is another step forward in our athletic careers”.
Abraham García’s analysis
The current head coach of Atletico B, Abraham García, knows them both very well, as he had them under his tutelage at Juvenile A. The manager emphasized to the web page that “it’s a well-deserved prize. They’ve done things well. The goal of Atletico B is to make things easier for the first team coach if he needs players. As the person in charge of the team, it’s a job of the coaching staff that certifies that change of image that Atletico B has given”.
The manager defines Álex Quillo as “one of the players that makes little noise, also in his way of being. He always does things correctly and gets good marks in each match. He’s a footballer who knows where to be, who is good in the air, can score and distributes the ball well. He runs a lot when he doesn’t have the ball. He can play in the midfield, which he is doing with us, or as second striker. I told him at the beginning of the season that he had to improve, he’s worked hard and he’s a fundamental piece of the team”.
With regard to Batres, his coach said that he’s “different from your typical player these days. He has an incredible physique, with a very potent shot. He’s made a radical change physically and, because of it, with the talent that he has, performs better when he’s in good, strong shape. He takes advantage of his team-mates’ work and is blessed with a ‘magic wand’. He can ‘kill’ when he has space with his pace and strength”.

Ignacio Camacho signs a professional contract with Atlético de Madrid
The new generations of the Atlético de Madrid youth system are arriving with force and at the forefront of this new cast of young and talented atléticos is Ignacio Camacho. Centre-midfielder for Atlético de Madrid B and international with all of the Spanish inferior categories, we find ourselves before one of the most important members of the Atleti organization with eyes towards the future. For this reason, Club Atlético de Madrid, continuing with its firm policy of strengthening its link with the developmental squads, has signed Ignacio Camacho to his first professional contract. The deal reaches until June of 2010 and in this way the young midfielder takes another step in his promising athletic career.
Ignacio Camacho will never forget 2007, a year in which he grew as a footballer and in which successes accompanied him. He was proclaimed European champion with the Under-17 Spanish National team, acting as captain both on and off the pitch, and picking up the trophy at a tournament held in Belgium in which the Spaniards beat England in the final by the score of 1-0. In addition, the player was declared Best Player in 2007 by the Madrid Football Federation, receiving the award from its president, Vicente Temprado.
After arriving at Atlético at the ‘Cadet’ level, Camacho has been growing year-after-year until making the Atlético Madrid B squad this season. With the signing of this professional contract, the footballer takes another step in his athletic career.
In statements made to the Club’s official web page, Ignacio emphasized that “it’s a reason for any player to be happy for their club to have confidence in them. The Club has shown that it has great confidence in me and that’s reason to be thankful. I’ve always given anything to Atlético and it’s going to stay that way. Even though it’s an important step, I prefer to remain calm because I still have lots to show. My big goal is to solidify a spot for myself in the future of the first squad, which is what all of us footballers from the youth program want”.
This new step in his professional career is “an added pressure, but its very positive for my continual growth as an Atlético de Madrid footballer. What I’m very clear about is that I’m going to keep working with the same intensity that I have until now. I’m aware that I’m part of a grand club and I know that if I want to go far I can’t stop working. I came to Atlético because I placed my confidence in this organization and that’s why I’m appreciative, I’ll repeat, for the great confidence that they’ve placed in me”.
Camacho knows that “a great organization is obligated to sign great foreign players, but Atlético de Madrid has always kept their home-grown footballers in mind and that makes all of us young footballers aware that one day our opportunity to play in the first squad might come if we work hard and do things well”.
Atlético de Madrid has initiated an important phase in its history and Ignacio Camacho is called on to be a central figure in the first team in a not-so-far-away future. The midfielder thinks that Javier Aguirre’s team is on a very good path and considered that “they’re doing things really well this season, demonstrating that their a ‘grand’. The team is well-situated in the three competitions and has aspirations for big things, which I hope they can reach”.
He has his feet on the ground and he knows that his immediate future is linked to the reserve squad, which is having a notable season. The midfielder stressed that “good generations of footballers are arriving behind the first team, as is evident from the campaign that the reserve team is having. We have a good team and I’m sure that we’ll keep scaling spots as the weeks pass”.
This guy is taking massive steps into becoming the man who will lead Atlético to the treble in 2010

Batres follows Camacho in penning Atletico Madrid deal
tribalfooball.com - January 09, 2008
Roberto Batres has signed a new contract with Atletico Madrid.
The young midfielder's agreement follows quickly on from Atletico securing Ignacio Camacho to his first pro contract.
This guy's the star of the Atlético B-team, but he's already 22-years old, so I'm not too convinced by this signing...

Atletico de Madrid signs a pre-contract with Ghanaian striker Adams
Club Atletico de Madrid SAD has reached an agreement to sign a pre-contract with football player Sadick Adams to join the Madrid squad beginning on 1 January 2008. The player, who is 17 years-old, will train with Atletico B and will become a winter market reinforcement for the team managed by Abraham García.
Adams comes from Ashgold Sporting Club of Ghana, where he currently plays and with whom he has made it to the Under-17 Ghana national team. Actually, he was the author of the goal against Spain in the recent Under-17 World Cup semi-finals.
The footballer, who turns 18 on January 1st, stated to the Atletico web page that “I wanted to come and play in Europe and coming to Atletico is fulfilling a dream. We follow the Spanish League a lot in Ghana and it’s a country that we like for their football and the atmosphere of the matches. My goal is to stand out and grow as a footballer at Atletico”.
Eveidently, a striker such as Adams has paid plenty of special attention to the player who was the Atletico ‘9’ up until this summer. “I liked Atletico because of Fernando Torres and now I follow him at Liverpool”.
Adams scored four goals in the Under-17 World Cup and defines himself as “a striker who is fast, explosive and good in the one-on-one”.
He’ll play a friendly with his national team on Tuesday the 20th in London against England, and will soon be thinking about his incorporation to Atletico de Madrid. The first part of his dream will come true very soon. The other, “to train and play alongside Agüero and Forlán”, will have to wait.

“No me esperaba conseguir cinco goles.
http://www.clubatleticodemadrid.com/es//at...as.asp?id=21188This Borja González lad scored 6 goals in 3 games for Spain U16, in an international tournament in Portugal. He scored the first five goals in the final that Spain won, beating Portugal 7-0

This lad is definitely one to watch, could he answer that question in this thread's subtitle ?

All we have to do is keep Arsene away

Im not really to sure to be honest, I assumed he was a youngster and someone said he was top of the scoring charts for your youth team but obviously thats not true
He played for our reserves last night and knowing my team pretty well I would have known if he was older I reckon, but youngsters come and go from our academy a lot so hes passed through the radar it seems.

So, Sadick Adams, what happened in the end with your dispute with Etoile du Sahel over him?
