Im really sad about this. I used not rate him much as a player, but when he came back from that chronic injury., and took that minimum wage contract...man what a legend for that alone.

I was also really impressed with how he coped when he came back physically and he played pretty well. A loss to Roma for sure. But i hope he finds that smile that he is looking for!

Tommasi is a great player and a great person.

There aren't so many players who are such generous and grand like Tommasi. He's been doing charity work for couple of years and I really appreciate him.

GRAZIE DAMIANO!

Damn straight. He didnt even want the grand a week...but Roma were forced to give him money...by law. Strange!

But what a cool story this guy is involved in.

This is a very sad day. Tommasi is no longer a Roma player. One of the few survivors from the last Scuddetto team and a very versatile player. Also one of the defining players of Roma for the past decade. Grazie Damiano!

Damiano is one of my favourite players and I am really saddened and dissapointed to see him go. I have being saying that we really should of offered him at least a one year extension, he deserved it after being on such a low wage for a year. He may not of seen much playing time, but he could of been invaluable for his experience and the pure, honest approch that he brings to the game. Lets just hope all our young players have learned something from this great man and have a similar attitude both on and off the field.

He is gone now, and Roma has lost a true great, a legend in the club, one which played with pure heart and passion everytime he put on that giallorossi shirt. He will be missed. Grazie Damiano.

And my new sig is in his honour:

Now Tommasi has left, only two Scudetto winners still play in Roma. Montella and Totti.

Time are changing and players too, that's sad but it's part of football that sometimes is a time for a change.

Forza Roma!

I remember watching him play and always thinking of him as a player with fight in him.

Always sad to see a player leave, unless of course on extremely bad terms.

I dont have any link to confirm this source, but on SkyText they claim Damiano Tommassi has joined Levante in Spain on a free transfer. Good luck to him. He has a heart the size of the fucking colesseum
PazzaInter
I'm quite surprised to see him leave as last year he took a huge paycut to remain at Roma because of his love to the club and now he is leaving for Levante?? im shocked.

Levante strike double coup

Spanish side Levante claim to have struck a deal to sign Roma midfielder Damiano Tommasi.

The 32-year-old has spent the last 10 years in the Italian capital but is set for pastures new and a stint in La Liga.

Tommasi is available on a free transfer and had previously attracted the interest of Premiership side Middlesbrough as well Espanyol, Galatasaray and Chievo.

However, Levante appear to have won the race for the Italian international after club president Pedro Villarroel revealed Tommasi will travel to Spain to pen a deal.

"Tommasi is a Levante player," Villarroel said.

"We hope he will arrive in Valencia tomorrow to complete the signing."

Meanwhile, Villarroel also revealed the club are close to clinching a deal for Deportivo La Coruna's Cesar.

The Spanish defender had been linked with a move to The Premiership during the summer but looks set to stay in Spain with the newly-promoted outfit.

Levante have been busy in the transfer market already this summer having secured the services of French duo Laurent Robert and Frederic Dehu.

La liga would be a good place for him. Its sad to see him go though, but he deserves more than what we are willing to pay him. FORZA TOMMASI

Welcome to SP man, but i dont think it has anything to do with money. He keeps mentioning how now he is back fit he doesnt feel motivated or maybe he doesnt feel he's good enough for Roma. Which is a shame.

Thanks man, and thanks to Romashield for letting us know about this place.

I didn't mean it was about money. I meant that for a guy with his loyalty, and dedication he deserved a lot more than what we paid him last season, which was minimum wage. He is good enough to play on team, a true team leader. I was one of the people who thought he wouldn't contribute a single thing when he came back. Man was I dead wrong. Thank you Tommasi.

Oh yeah, they gave him a raise like halfways through the season back up to £25,000 a week i believe.

But i know what ya mean. The guy is a legend. Hope he comes back in a season or two

Just found this. Apparently a deal has NOT been done with Levante. It may yet be done, but Damiano still hasnt decided where he is going.

Could yet go back to Verona or could chance abroad
