Even though their is a slight headwind at the moment i expect the record to go, I reckon Powell to break it with Shaun Crawford just behind him. It should be a great race - i really cant wait.

The Jamaican should get the record or at least the gold medal, becuase Jamaicans are always jammin' and taking it easy, and he wasn't even trying and ran under ten seconds, and let Maurice Green win. That was off the hizzy fo shizzy....

I got my dad to bet £20 of my money on maurice greene winning its almost a cert.
GoonerMarc
Aug 22 2004, 02:38 PM
It isnt a cert, Powell practically jogged under 10secs and Shaun Crawford also jogged home talking to his team mate Justin Gatlin in the other semi.
mufc the final is at 9.10pm on BBC1 not 10.15pm.
Lafcadio
Aug 22 2004, 02:45 PM
Ok it was an overstatement to say it was a cert but greene has been here before and this is probraly his last shot so he'll be pumped. It'll definatly be an amazing race though.

Big shock, but fair play to him. I was glad Greene and Powell didnt get it. Just sad no brits made the final this year.

if a race is under 9.90 seconds, kim collins will never win it, cos he can't go that fast, he even admitted that himself

Who said is wasn't a fast race? I believe Crawford ran 9.88 and look how far behind he seemed to be. Im really dissapointed with Powell though, i think his time was round 9.96, i expected him to go much faster than that.
Watching the race though i thought Obikwelu was gonna win it.

The commentator was talking about how he looked very nervous. He'll learn from this after all he still is very young and will come back stronger.

Never tried. im better at swimming croll.
Obikwelu gave an interview where he says all his heart is portuguese. Because apparently he was explored in labour at Nigeria and then he ran away to Portugal and the rest is history. Anyhow he is a portuguese immigrant, this is a win to all of them, like professor Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa says.

12.7 is good for 15 years old. I am 18 and my time is about the same as that.
As for whoever said Montgomery's record was dubious, well yeah he takes drugs. S do they all. The truth is I would say its impossible fore any athlete to break 10 seconds without drugs. Certainly at least 8 if not all of those in the olympic final were on drugs. Just look at them, thats not all training my friends.
Ben Johnson = fastest man ever, but he was caught unlike these guys. He is villified, his repuation ruined, but he just got caught. Don't think any other champion or record holder is any less of a cheat.
