hi guys,

i have a serious problem, and i assume many of you had the same experience. i want to play for the school team, but in order to make it, i have to make the followin requirements:

a) 3 x 25 pushups
b ) 3 x 40 sit ups
c) 10 x 100 yd dashes, each under 14 sec
d) 2.4 km in 9 min

i have about 5 weeks left, and i wanted to know if anybody could tell me some good exercises that i could do to get fit for the try-outs. (my main concern are the sit-ups, and the sprints.)

since you already know the requirements, why don't you just do those exercises. i mean that would make sense. if you want to go over do more reps of each.

Seeing as you're concerned about the situps I would definitely ask them what being able to do 120 situps has got to do with football because to me that seems an utterly stupid request

welcome to the USA. hehe

anyway, i expressed myself in a non-comprehensive way. i just wanted to know if someone could tell me alternative exercises that would affect the same muscle groups (as the one's above).

take a ball in front of your coach and show your skills. like dribbling at a advantage speed or some good shoots. then he should see that you can play football.

I second that /\

Williamwallace, can you post how manysitups/pushups etc you are currently able to do? smile.gif

Is this like circuit training? Seems like a ridiculous way of checking if someone is able to play football. Natural talent and average should be enough to make your team.

There shouldn't be much problem with the push-ups. Once you can do 10, you can do 100. Fairly simple imo.

Sit-ups are fairly simple aswell, though once your, say, your third round, it can start getting fairly tiring. If you get tired, do what I did when I was a tubby totter, keep telling yourself that if you don't do this you will not make the team. Seems simple doesn't it? If you are tough enough mentally you should get through it.

Sprints, hmm. Not much experience( fuck it my spellings off today wink.gif ) I can't lend you any help. There's no easy way. You just have to practice.

2.4 km in 9mins. If your doing it by yourself, keep to your own pace that feels comfortable. 9mins is pretty acheivable.

Hope this helps in any way, good luck!

thanks to everybody.

currently, i can do about 45-50 pushups, ca. 50 situps, and i can do 6.5/9 laps in 9 min (on my field). i haven't started doing the sprints yet.

my problem is not that i am not able to pass the requirements yet; it's just that i have little time left.

anyhow, thanks again to all
