Can't say it wasn't expected. I'd have loved to have been a fly on the wall in that meeting!

What the hell can happen next? Gareth Barry get sodomised by Steve Bruce? Steve davis retire from football? a troup of performing monkeys line up numbers 1-11 for Villa next season? Honestly anything can happen....except that old fucking deceased, prehistoric asshole of a fucking corpse Doug Ellis leaving the god damned club in anyway of a respectable fashion. We're doomed, how can this possibly be a good thing. Ellis is a fuckign moron and doesnt have a clue what is going on at Villa. Go into debt you idiot, every other club does it and they're still solid. he is a fucking spineless coward who will let this club fade into obscurity rather than actually show some ambition and fail. I would rather we did a Leeds and actually go for it and have it fail miserabley rather than let us just slowly die in a long cancerous drawn out fashion.....

Sorry forum mods, edit as appropriate, i just cant handle the Villa scenario at the moment to post without massive amounts of expletives

Sweet Jesus. Now he'll be favourite for the Sunderland job (being Irish, and a former teammate of Quinn).

I dont rate him as a manager like, but he could do a job for us. Mixed emotions for sure.

Just saw footage of Dave walking outta Villa, he looked a broken man who is sick of the situation at Villa (join the queue) and was defintiely upset with what had gone on in the 6 hour long meeting. Fucking hate Doug Ellis. FUCKING HATE HIM

Understandable - completely. The guy is an idiot and the longer he stays in charge, the worse its looking for you guys. O'Leary is a good manager, albeit one who likes to spend and spend big. Naturally, quite a few of these transfers don't come off, but the players he signs tend to be good players and good value for money.
After all thats been going on at Villa, there's almost no way you'll get a better manager.

Having a chairman who is willing to occasionally spend money is worse than having one who won't buy any players. With Ellis you get some good players in, but the manager never seems to be allowed to get in other players who can complete the team. All it would have taken for Villa o be a far stronger team over the last 2 years is one or 2 more players.

To have a chairman who seems so passionateless about the club that you are so clearly passionate about is frustrating, its got to be. But to have Doug Ellis as your chairman goes beyond hell.
dreamlander
Its always the same. Look at every manager bar the turnip we have had since the premiership started. it reads like this. Ron Atkinson had us finish in 2nd place, when it looked like we could push on and become challengers, support from on high dried up and we proceeded to fall and Ron got the axe.

Next came Brian Little, started with 4th and 5th place finishes and OK runs in the then decent UEFA cup, again support seemed lacking just after Alex Ferguson of all people said if we had a bit of backing, we could crack the then big 3 of Man U Arsenal and Newcastel i think it was. Instead we fell to the bottom half and Little resigned to be replaced by Gregory,

Gregory also gets us to finish in 5th, 6th and 8th place finishes, 2 UEFA cup runs, and after a few admittedly dodgy signings as well as some great ones (people often forget Merson and Dublin) the same ol thing happened, the belt got tightened another manager grew sick of the lack of ambition and walked to be replaced by the Turnip, who just sucked and left again because of Doug unwilling to back him financially, a guy who used to be one of Ellis Best Friends, i now understand they dont speak, to be replaced by Dave.

On a shoe string budget we get robbed of a UEFA cup spot by goal difference finishing 6th adn just missing out of Euro competition. thinking oh 6th thats not bad, everyone assumes some money to spend, but no, we fall to 10th adn tehn we get a massive 10 million to spend (Sarcasm, fuck all to be spending on a club our size, look at Spurs and Boro and Blackburn) which mostly goes on Baros. We finish 16th with a bunch of clearly unmotivated players, 90% of whom cant wait for a transfer out of there i assume due to the absolute lack of ambition, adn again, no support at all for this summer. We can only spend what we get from selling players.....FROM SELLING PLAYERS> WE HAVE NO ONE WORTH SELLING WITHOUT DESTROYING OUR FUCKING ELEVEN. we are not Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, United or even SPurs who have 5 or 6 £5 million+ rated SUBSTITUTES. We have a subs bench that mightnt even add up to that in TOTAL. FUCKING DISGRACEFUL.

Certainly not easy being a Villa fan is it?

I wanted to see O'Leary go at the end of last season but with this current chairman in charge Aston Villa will never be able to progress no matter which manager is in charge.

Who in their right mind would want to take this job, where it seems failure is the only outcome.

It says a lot also when Doug is in Mallorca while this is on. Now if I was a chairman of a club and after what has happened in the last few days I would be at the forefront of everything that is happening at the club. Instead he goes off on holiday as gets others to do his dirty work.

Doug Ellis expects high returns on low investment and looking at our current squad no manager would be able to do well with this team.

I didn't particularly ever warm to O'Leary but I know he tried his best. It's just that was never going to be good enough with a bit of ambition from Doug.

Anyway goodbye to DOL.

Thats exactly it. he claims to have the clubs best interests at hand, but doesnt even come back to have the balls to sack Dave himself. Instead he gets his Monkeys to have it all arranged very "Amicably"

My hatred for The Fossil grows. No new chariman, no progress

THANK FUCK BRING IN MERSON TAYLOR AND GREGORY TRUE VILLANS

On the bright side there's a few decent youngsters at Villa, maybe they can step up a bit. I agree there needs to be a change at the top but there's only one way that'll happen and you know the determined fucker is going to cling on for a few years yet

Whatever happened to that consortium from last season? (Maybe the season before)

Bye David O'Leary.. and with that.. Bye Aston Villa sad.gif

Really sorry to all the Villa fans out there. Its a Circus right now and to loose a quality Manager just makes next season even less convincing. Hope falls into a few players hands, and a few young players hands of that!

I think you can go places this season.. Most likely to the Stadium of Light, 1st game of next season in the championship.

Sorry Matty.. i dont think there coming up tongue.gif

Roy Aitken has been appointed caretaker manager, don't know what Villa has done to deserve all this back luck! Hopefully they appoint a permenant manager as soon as possible but given the situation it would take a brave man to take on the task of rebuilding Villa.

Raped a black cat that was under a ladder which then fell onto a black mirror.

That cause enough bad luck!

To much is going on, can't see Villa suriving in the Prem.

Roy Aitken said the following on Radio 5.

QUOTE
"I believe I have the credentials, I have experience in Scotland where I won a trophy with Aberdeen".

The trophy was nice but he doesn't mention how he was sacked after we got beat 5-0 away to Dundee Utd with the fans basically tell him to fuck off during the game and how much transfer money he pissed away

Doug will be pleased by this for the most part, a cheap non sevrence package way of paying off a new manger. Oh yeah, i wouldnt be suprised if Curbishley and O Neill were instantlu forgotten about Aitken is the cheapest and thus best option for Villa. thumbsdownsmileyanim.gif

Since Aitken was appointed caretaker some members on one of the Aberdeen forums worked out he spent £5million in around 2 and a bit years. I think most people on here would find it hard to imagine a non-Old Firm side spending that sort of money. What did we end up with? A squad battling relegation and when you consider
that our debt is around the £9million mark you begin to wonder how much of that damage Aitken was reponsible for. I think you'd be better of getting anyone but Aitken.
MDeep.10
Aitken could do a good short term job for villa but we really need to be offering the job for the likes of Curbishley and O'neil. These are proven managers and will have the respect of the fans. I think we should also consider a forgien manager as they may be able to bring in more flair and creavtity too the team which we are lacking.

Anyway im glad David O'leary has gone. He totally lost my repsct and many of the players and other fans.

That was sarcasm if ya missed it StandFree my man. I really dont want our Assisstant who has that down on his CV to take over the managerial reigns.

I would love it, but the thing is, he was Walsall manager, who were in Uber-shit before he took over to be fair, but he still wasnt really able to do anything with them. I still look back at the Merse as one of our greatest players and i hate the Turnip for just letting him go for a free to Pompey. He def had the fitness to play 3 ouuta 5 games in his last season in the Premierhsip for us, but the Turnip is a tool

In one of the Sunday papers it reckons Souness is going to takeover.

*Shudder*

Deadly Doug and Souness,

Match made in heaven?

It might actually work, they'll both compliment each other in a very negative kind of way smile.gif

I have brought back another old thread i know, so sorry bout that rolleyes.gif but its amazing how wrong everyone was on here!

People thought we would go down and loose our best players - pompeyboy said he wouldn't mind Barry and Hendrie, but Barry is still here and we have now infact became one the the best teams ni England. It shows how much MoN and RL have done for us. Though at the time when O'Leary was sacked i had very different opinions to most on here. The O'Leary era was awful, fair enough he had no money from Doug, but the best thing Ellis done was get rid of O'Leary, appoint MoN and sell up. Thank you Randy worshippy.gif
Dingo.

At first glance i thought the thread title was "O'Neill Leaves As Villa Boss". I was like wah! ohmy.gif

I remember at the time, I though relegation was a certainty and without a manager and an old fart in as chairman, even the most ardent Villa fan must admit it was going to be tough for us.

Thankfully with lots of hard-work and Lerner fulfilling promises, we can relegate these types of comments to what they are....history.

Yep, i didn't think we would finish 6th last season. But Randy and the board have done fantastic. I wouldn't swap him for any chairman, not even Abramovich!

Even when i went to the training ground today, General Krulak was there watching the youth game. I mean he doesnt have to do that but he does and shows his support to Villa
dreamlander
The General, Randy Lerner and Martin O Neill are the best things to happen to the club since Paul mcGrath while I have been supporting them. Reading back through threads like this is always fun to see how crazily things can pan out sometimes. We had nothing, no hope, no prayers when this thread was opened and now we are talking of challenging top 4. Things like Lerners honesty, O Neills determination and The Generals all round coolness have brought a good times atmosphere in here.

Long may it continue! smile.gif

It was pretty funny alright...man, re reading my posts it sounded like I was on the verge of topping myself or giving myself a heart attack! laugh.gif

My opinion was always that the manager didnt matter at the time, the Chairman did. Turns out, there was truth in that. Not saying that O Neill hasnt had anything to do with our recent upturn either, but how he would have coped being manager under Dougs latter years would have been....interesting and probably short lived!
