will using a small soccer ball and dribbling with it improve my ball control when i use big soccer ball..

and if thats the case should i buy a small soccer ball? or should i use a tennis ball.. plz reply

thanks u!
Talismaticpulse
Yes, buy a size 2 ball . this increases ball control vastly and u'll become much more composed on the ball..if u use a tennis ball its not that helpful because its too small but u can try...as i said i reccomend a size 2 ball (prodimedently white coloured because its easier to follow)..after a month or two u can control the football without looking at it

kk thanks for da info.. size 2

i agree using a smaller ball does help improve close control
also make sure you still practice a lot with a normal sized football

how come? what if i just practice all da time with a small one.. den game time play with a big ball... is this bad? plz exmaplin

a small ball is good for improving close control, because you have to be precise where you put your foot when your dribbling with it

but you could become to used to the small ball, if you only practised with it, so when you played with a proper football, since it is heavier, you will find yourself having to adjust your "touch" for the ball, but it isnt a major problem

I suggest you buy a regular normal sized football and train with that if your looking to improve dribbling skills or whatever seeing as though thats what your going to be using in an actual match.

I smaller ball is just good fun to muck around with around the house or whatever.

No, with size 2 ball is controling ball much harder than with big (size 5) ball. And it improves You much better and quick than with big ball. I have size 2 ball and all the time Im moving in my home is this ball in front of my foots tongue.gif
About year ago I bought this ball I juggled only about 8 with this ball, but now I can juggle about 30 time withg this ball. It improves You alot.
steve_randle
is it suitable for bare-foot?
F4Evo
should be, no reason why not
i dont think people are going to be wearing shoes inside their homes

My coaches go away to some pro clubs every now and again like, Blackburn, Leeds, Ross COunty, Rangers, Man Utd and they went to Barcelona once aswell. I was talking to him today about the Barcelona one and he said that they would start of with normal balls and kick it really high and control it to a stand still on the ground in one touch, like cusioning it so it'll stop. Then they would go onto these size 2 ball and do the ball then they'd have to do the same to a Tennis ball. And they'd have to do loads of keepy ups each day with tennis balls.

using a small ball would be good for passing and control. but for skill i'd say use a full size ball smile.gif

shooting with a small ball is pointless

however, if you get good at juggling with a small ball you will be even better with a regular size 5 ball.

don't bother with small balls. just keep practising with regular balls. the difference in rate of improvement is very small tbh and plus the regular ball feels so huge after training with smaller balls that it's pretty much useless in SOME cases.

Using a Tennis ball is very hard but helps a great deal, if you can control such a small ball with your feet, then a normal sized ball is going to be cake for you.

Small balls are sure fun, though. I keep alot of them around the house, so I can keep the ball to my feet wherever I'm at. Juggling with small balls will improve your juggling, and probably your technique and touch, but I don't know about the dribbling. I suggest when you're practicing your dribbling skills you use a normal sized ball, but have some small balls around the house and try to stick to them all the time, and it will improve your ballcontrol and the relationship between the two of you.

when training in indoor about this time of year and getting ready for outdoor (in canada) my coach likes to use a futsal ball when we're doin possesion drills then later in the practice we change the ball to a regular size 5...u can really see a difference in everyones touch...now also since we are getting ready for outdoor we have to get somewhat accustomed to the bigger ball so gradually bringing it back helps a lot..

i just think it can help a lot but try not to get hooked on it to much..

Using an extremely hard ball is also helpful.

I like using the small balls, I use large ones as well though. I figure that if I can control a ball smaller than the one I will play with on the pitch I can control a longer ball. I wouldn't be so worried about getting used to a smaller ball but focusing on your touch and close control with it then applying it to your larger ball.

I would really recommend getting a futsal ball. They're smaller, harder and heavier and don't bounce much at all. I've been training with one on my own at the gym all winter and I notice a vast improvement in my touch, accuracy, stepovers, etc. For some reason it really helped alot. I think it's because your mind gets used to focusing on having good touch and control and it forces you to be very precise with your touches, thus giving you better control with a real ball.

it feels huge for a reason, a good one. when you juggle a small ball you are increasing your ball control because you have to be able to control something that doesn't cover your entire foot.. therefore this helps develop control technique because it lets the ball touch more places on your foot compared to a regular ball.
when you start to juggle a regular size one after juggling a small one, it feels wierd because your mind is not used to switching back and forth, but really, when this is happeneing you are switching and developing more ball control because you are completing a switch of quick, faster, control of a smaller ball onto a regular ball.

for example, if you are juggling with a tennis ball for 1 hr straight. (not keeping it up for one hour, but attempting to juggle, play around with it).. its hard to make a transition to regular size ball again because your mind kind of thinks its wierd going from a really small ball to a regular ball. but like I said, it is beneficial to juggle a regular size ball after a small one because thats where you start to gain more control, over a transition from different control of a small ball (which is harder) to a regular size ball. IF you keep juggling small ball and never use regular ball as often, its not good because if you get used to a small ball TOO much, it just makes the transition harder. you have to even the training out if you want to use a small ball. dont over use it though. it is just to train skill, speed and control.

yeah futsal ball is good to use. but, they are futsal balls. they are meant for controlling on the ground... not so much as juggling or in the air. if you want to improve control with dribbling, futsals are the best...because being heavier, it makes you have to touch the ball more to control it where you want better.. it helps develop more precise and quicker touches. but for juggling a regular skill ball (size 1 or 2) is better.

Just so you know, my trainer went to a Brazil training camp, he brought back 10 semi flat rubber size two balls. He said they practiced with these. We practice with them, and everything but our shooting improved. Passing was more precise, skills were incredible, and our game pace quickened.

Will it matter if you use a size 1 ball? Because i already have a size 1 ball...

You all seem to like balls alot..
