So Milan has him signed now...he could be very promising playing up with Kaka in the midfield, Zidane's heir like some say? It's far too early to tell...

I like the looks of this guy. I mean, how many times did he pick out that top corner. This guy looks pretty damn good. Cant wait to see him in a Milan jersey....please please please instead of Seedorf....
Kaka Is Brilliant
Let's see how he gets on first, any videos like that highlight the good things, let's just hope he can do that for Milan on a consistent basis.
urbanlegend
Looks quite promising, but don't forget, Seedorf is still very experienced and skilled - he is a great asset ladies and gentlemen.
RomaShield27
I didn't know Milan had signed him. Not that I know of him, only his name – in my latest adventure in Football Manager he turns into a savage player and a regular for France. Certainly he looks impressive in that video.
urbanlegend
Manager? Some sort of game?
luda
definetely a good sigining of a young and talented player by milan

we'll see how he does for us, looks good so far

I dont think any numbers have been disclosed publicly yet but a number of clubs had expressed interest in the 19 year old.

Around 3m euros, pretty cheap considering that apparently half of Europe's top clubs were after him!
RickyKaka
Looks promising, cant wait to see him in action

He looks really good, reminds me of kaka a little bit.
He came on at the end of the game against red star where he just did the basics, he looked very nervous but i suppose any 19 yr old would be in their debut match for Milan.
I think once he matures and gets used to playing in such a big team he will blossom into the next kaka.
PazzaInter
Ive yet to see him, but if he is anything like they say he is then he will blossum into a world class player.

I'll be quite happy with that! bigsmile.gif

In all seriousness, no Milan fan expects lots from Gourcuff this season but the one thing i noticed from the posted videos of him is he actually ahs incredible finishing, as good as anyone else at the club, he can pick out the top corners beautifully from inside the area and if he can get maybe 10-15 games of 20+ minutes, and maybe 4 or 5 goals then it would be a very pleasing start fromk my point of view for any kid of such an age.
Sayros
Well apparently the nervousness went away judging from that beautiful header he scored today. You guys have quite a promising player, just make sure to develop him well for France in 2010 =P
ferrari_stallion
Very impressive performance today, Yoann looked ever dangerous and was always creating key oppertunities, nice goal scored as well. clapping.gif
dreamlander
Only saw the last ahlf hour tonight, but he looked brilliant. Great vision to pick out Kaka for his chance too in the last 10 minutes.

Well played young Yoann!!!
Jay Kay™
He does look a very class act. He has the potential to be one of the very best players in the world, and luckily it will be in a Milan shirt.
imo, maybe he should have got the number 10 instead of Seedorf . . . No pressure biggrin.gif
Domina
Someone mentioned something about him being a manager. He's not actually a manager, but his father Christian is a manager for a french club.

Anyway, milan is VERY lucky to have him. He will surely develop into a world class player and trust me, you'll enjoy watching him play. smile.gif
Sayros
My thoughts:

I believe Milan is extremely lucky. Sure this was just one game for Yoann, and it was a weak Greek club who has never won a champion's league match. Honestly, though, I think I have seen enough.

Is it just me or Milan's midfield seemed extremely fluid? The red and black are lucky enough to already have one tremendously talented midfielder in Kaka', but now they have an enormous, enormous talent in their hands that seemed to click extremely well with Kaka' and had his CL debut with a great header. Even if he hadn't scored a goal, his numerous set ups and runs back and forth switching offense and defense was great.

I think he needs a good amount of playing time, maybe not play every game but a good amount because I can easily see Gourcuff and Kaka' as one of Europe's most devastating midfield within two years or so, probably a lot less.

Any thoughts?
Carl Monday
Looks promising, hopefully this'll give him a boost in confidence that he can compete with the big boys and not worry about stepping on anyones toes.
dst
He already looked like he was something to look out for in the game against Red Star Belgrade at the San Siro but last night he was simply amazing; what impressed me the most is that he always ran back to defend even though he's not so good at it yet!!!!

Great, great player (he will be)!!!! wub.gif first.gif

I agree he should start in place of Seedorf, who is crap. I don't know why Ancelotti keeps starting Seedorf he never does anything, except give the ball away. Gourcoff is a good prospect for Milan, great signing.

LOOL, Lets not get carried away...
Seedorf is still vital in Milan's mid. He still scores goals and puts good balls. Yoan's time will come, but it's better not to rush it.

Seedorf has become a bit like Luis Garcia for Milan. He does one good thing a game, be it a through ball or goal, and thast it for the rest of the game. I think that he needs to be replaced and i have been calling for his head for years now. If Gourcuff can prove he can handle defensive responsability too, then he'll have to be worked into the starting line up as he was so impressive against AEK Athens

His a great player with a great future
this is a vid i found about him his 19 years old and his already good

Kaka said he was happy with his 22. Seems like Seedorf was benched today and Gourcuff was a starter

Gourcuff Blow For Milan

Milan have been hit with the news that Yoann Gourcuff is expected to be out for around three weeks after damaging a hip.

The 20-year-old bruised his hip in training ahead of the club’s Champions League clash with Lille this week.

Gourcuff has hit the headlines since joining from Rennes this summer and his absence will be a blow for a Milan side who have drawn their last two matches 0-0.

The Frenchman has made three appearances fir Milan, scoring once

dreamlander
Ya i came across that as well. A Blow, but not too big a blow, we need to revert to a front 2 again as Kaka has indicated to the press. Its not Gourcuffs fault, but i think we need to go back to basics as Oliveira isnt ready to lead AC Milans line on his own just yet. He needs support from Pippo and with this 5th midfielder now injured, surely Ancellotti will go back!
aussie_for_life
a splittin image of kaka i honestly couldnt tell the difference between them without lookin at there numbers

Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti has admitted that a win over Anderlecht in the Champions League will help his side focus on their dismal Serie A form.

Milan are sitting pretty at the top of the Group H with seven points from a possible nine and a win over Anderlecht on Wednesday could see the Rossoneri through to the last 16.

Their recent domestic form, however, has been dismal, leading Ancelotti to hope that sooner or later his side's European form will rub off on his players when they play back at home.

"We are in a good position in our Champions League group," Ancelotti said.

"Anderlecht are a good side, but a win could help us concentrate on the Italian league."

Milan crashed to spectacular defeat on Saturday, losing 4-3 to Inter in a memorable local derby in which Alberto Gilardino scored for the first time this season, and with his strikers once again finding the net, Ancelotti is loath to change his tactics.

"We won't change," he confirmed. "Anderlecht will be the same as in the first leg - they are really quick and they have dangerous forwards like [Mohamed] Tchite.

"We must show more guts and determination, but we don't need revolutions. [Yoann] Gourcuff maybe could start from the beginning, it's a possibility."

^ I really hope he does start, it was a shame Ancelotti never put him on during the game against Inter, but that's over with now. Hopefully he'll get a decent amount of playing time because he's been out for a while and I'd like to see him play sometime soon
ferrari_stallion
Hopefully he will be able to grab a starting spot sometime in the near future and get a chance at a goal in siere a..that would be a big step for him.
dreamlander
I agree. I think starting him instead of Pirlo isnt really a wise move though. I think he is Built for the Seedorf role. Sorta attacking, link up with Kaka, and work to track back, never work to get forward. I really think thast the guy he should be replacing.

I dont think he is yet suited to be the deep lying pass master and game dictator that Andrea is, though the experience will have been VERY good for him
Toussaint
This looks like an old thread, but can someone who is able to watch many of the matches tell me about Gourcuff? I've only seen him a bit-- in five minutes against Fiorentina, and he certainly had an impact-- and I would like to know what role he plays in the team, and in relation to the other players.

What role you could see him in the future-- replacement for Seedorf? How has he fared since this thread last posted 1 1/2 months ago? Yahoo says midfielder but that alone doesn't tell me much smile.gif
superpippo!
Gourcuff has been great this season, our breath of fresh air as I like to call him, he has fitted in wel, and has provided some fresh blood into our midfield!

Ancellotti has been tryinghim in mnay positions, ie: the kaka role... which I believe he was great, I didn't get to see the match but I listened to the commentry and he was on the ball all the time, setting up the first goal, and the second goal (own goal) was from a cross by him.
He has played in Seedorf role... which IMO I think he should become permanent there because Seedorf has now become lazy and useless!
And he has also been on the right, this is where he scored on his debut for Milan in the C.L!

He has been really great and adapts to all positions in the midfield! He has played many games, and I hope he starts tonights game...
dreamlander
Ya, pretty much waht superpippo said. He has been our shining light in this season and i he hasnt even played most of it. In his first game he scored and was a snesation. His link up with Kaka was telepathic. In his second game i believe he was asked to play the Pirlo role where i feel there was a little too much asked of him but he coped. But he is definitely the guy to take Seedorfs shirt. Why he was given the number 10 is a mystery to me. Gourcuff has been class and Ancellotti just wont drop the Lazy Dutchman!

We all want to see him line up as our 4th midfielder alongside Kaka and Pirlo and Rino! Its a midfield we havent really had much chance to see due to our nutter DMs injury, but i reckon one of our 2 games before the break we will almost certianly see this midfield. We all hope anyway

Not "all". tongue.gif Some of us (namely me!) want Brocchi in there somewhere, at least as a frequently-used option if not as a permanent starter.

About Gourcuff though, he's been an excellent addition to Milan, and really "one to watch" as I'm sure he'll only get better and better. I'd definitely like to see him permanently replace Seedorf, plus he's a very capable Kaka' substitute when necessary.

What???? Something we disagree on wow.gif

In all seriousness i would like Brocchi to play right back. I have seen him play there a few times and thought he was exceptional. He gets up and down the line and is ferocious in the tackle. Nothing would get past our right wing with him and Rino patrolling that area.

Don't worry, the disagreement was short-lived. laugh.gif Now I agree with you again because I'd also like to see Brocchi play RB-- he was very good in that position, plus it allows him to be on the pitch somewhere while freeing up a midfield place for Gourcuff.
Carl Monday
gourcuff was the best signing of milan this year, i've been really impressed with his potential espeically when you take into the account the "cheap" price we got him for
dreamlander
I know man. Not even £4 million. How did we manage to rob a player from a French club from beneath the noses of Lyon and PSG for such a cheap price? That amazes me in its own right as they generally buy up any promising French kid from the smaller clubs.

In fact, possibly the Crespo deal that Inter did on loan, he is possibly the best transfer full stop. What this kid can go onto do is unlimited!
Carl Monday
AFAIK Crespo is not on loan

Hernán Crespo
Hernán Jorge Crespo (born July 5, 1975 in Florida, Argentina) is an Argentine international football player currently playing in the Italian Serie A for Internazionale, having signed from English Premier League champions Chelsea on a 2 year loan deal on 7 August 2006, although Chelsea have an option to recall him after one season. He is famed for his powerful aerial ability, which allows him to score goals from considerable distances. He is also renowned for being one of the most effective goal poachers in the game, due to his anticipatory off-the-ball movement.

Was only half sure myself so checked Wiki to see what the story was. Turns out i am right!

The only thing that made me sure it was a laon deal was i never heard a transfer fee mentioned.
ferrari_stallion
I have him playing up with kaka and gila in my fifa 07 season..man those two are dynomite!
chazro
Gourcuff will be an amazing player, i think he would be best in the kaka role (the two are very similar) however, he's versatile so no doubt he'll fill seedorf's shoes.

I dont think seedorf is finished, but no doubt he needs a kick up the backside. If he gets dropped for Gourcuff for a few matches, maybe the old fire will return and he'll start playing like his old ruthless self.

Anyway, gourcuff has huge potential, and i can honestly see him being one of the best players in the world in 4-5 years time (hell even earlier!).
Odysseus
I'm really excited about Gourcuff, he is one of the reason I'm a new Milan fan. He has potential.
Tre Cool
Seen the kid once, looks like another Kaka out there. Good prospect for Milan; I'm always trying to buy him in FM, but he doesn't want to come. And I play with Chelsea! eyepopping.gif The kid ain't Shevchenko thats for sure rolleyes.gif
superpippo!
i really hope gourcuf starts a game soon, or plays more, the 4/5 matches he started he played really well, and I don't see why Ancellotti is so stubborn in not playing him. I mean Kaka isn't in good shape so i don't know why he doesn't play Gourcuff in Kaka's role aor in Seedorf role while Seedorf is playing kaka's role.
But maybe Parma could be his game to shine.

FORZA GOURCUFF!

Foolish clubs keep trying to take him from me for a measily €12 million sofunny.gif what are they thinking?

Gourcuff is a star in the making and Ancelloti better start using him more instead of fucking around with him. If he comes on, outplays Seedorf...REGULARLY, than he should be in the first 11. Makes me mad. He already has a telepathic understanding with Kaka, he links well with Jankulovsky on the left flank too, and he puts in his shift defensively as well.

The kid has it all, but we havent had enough chances to see it this season IMO, because Carlo likes the Old Boys club a bit too much for my liking.

As SuperPippo said above me, Kaka is in poor form, so maybe it would help the Brazilian wonderkid if he had a little help on the field. If Yoann was there instead of the erratic and mostly disappointing Seedorf, than some of the creative load is off of his shoulders, therefore less pressure. Therefore, a better Kaka in theory...damn well worth trying it to get one of the top 3 players in the world back on form!
