It's annoying but they cater to the masses. They do occsionally show some USA highlights or goals from big games.

why would you want soccer highlights on sportscenter?
they murder every sport by so over analysising and picking the wrong team always
i hate how they make shit up, just to fill in the hour
look it would be missaying of name and redickious comments
i hate sportscenter
and guess what it would be more tommy smith, wynalda, and the crew
that's terrible just terrible
btw the squirrel jetskiling was anchorman not sportscenter
and if it was sportscenter torrent or youtube sounds hilarious
also there was a squirrel in an arsenal champions league game, and that was a highlight
last thing a forum needs is an anti-squirrel mentality

ya'll should be used to this by now. they have never showed that many soccer highlights on sportscenter except when the world cup comes around. soccer is still not that big in america compared to the likes of baseball, basketball, and god forbid....american football. as the mls grows, they will have to show more soccer highlights. plus, i think since all of the world cup games were broadcasted in america, and most of them on espn, there will be more soccer highlights.

I'm actually going to defend ESPN here, but
ONLY from the business standpoint, and thats because I studied business....
ESPN is a business that operates on TV, they need ratings, more ratings means more advertisers, which means more money, they operate in AMERICA, and what would give you more ratings...an important 1:0 win for D.C. United, or the previous night's baseball/basketball highlights ? ... I think we all know the answer.
ESPN (like most corps in america) operates for a profit. Notice the amount of commercial breaks they take and how many "Top 10 Lists" are sponsored by corps.
Now, from the soccer fans standpoint, WE'RE TOTALLY SCREWED ! In order for me to see liverpool highlights I have to download them off soccerpulse, can't even watch full games...and when they're on ESPN2 the coverage is horrible.

It appears as though the fans' luck is about to change. It is welcome news for me.

I don't like it. Thursday is game day now? That might be the worst idea. Attendance will drop immediately. Its very hard to fill a stadium during a week night, plus the tv ratings couldn't be too great on a thursday night. Saturday mid day/evening seemed like a good fit.
I definitely don't like the guy ESPN sent to make the deal.
“Assuming there are highlights, we will show them,” Skipper said.
trash.

Is it just me or does it seem like every time a soccer play does make it to espn, it is ranked number 8? It almost seems like the sports center bosses told the rankers that if they have a soccer highlight it has to be at most ranked #8.

I would not be surprised if they place the top play from the World Cup of Duck Hunting ahead of it.

They show good Spanish games and Italian games. Better announcers in my opinion too.

I find that ironic, Pirlo as a sig and booing Italian soccer.

Its the same as every other league, some games are good, some make you snooze.

I don't mind watching the big teams, AC Milan, Inter, Juventus, Roma, and Palermo. But almost all the rest are the same bland teams to me.

I know I'm bumping a fairly old thread, but Wednesday night I saw Tommy Smyth do a breakdown on the Eng.-Croatia game. First time I've ever seen coverage like that of an actual game, not just something like showing the Zidane headbutt over and over. It's the Becks effect.

Sportsnet here in Canada its not bad, they show quick highlights of the EPL matches. They also show EPL games, but they never show any Man United games which sucks cause they have a hard on for Chelski.

I was watching Sportscenter today actually. They have all their discussions set up on the side of the screen, and most of them are of a single game. There's just one discussion called Soccer, and it goes over like five games in a minute. It's ridiculous.

It sucks when compared to the amount of airtime other sports have, but a few years ago you would rarely, if ever, see soccer highlights on Sportscenter. At least now its almost a regular thing. Sometimes I'll catch a Beckham newsbit on there too.
