Although it was fast, and i'm not trying to take away anything from Clarence, that 'shot' was pretty much a completely botched long ball/cross.
R. Carlos is the obvious. Seedorf is close. Tarnat is another.
i can't think of anymore right now.

Have you even seen Seedorf's goal at Real Madird> It wzas not a long ball. It was from halway. He took a running ball and the bell just kept going straight. It didn't dip down like a cross.
I vote for Roberto Carlos. His shots are very strong, and he can make them curve around any wall. That is why he has one of the best free kicks.

It is a well known fact that Roberto Carlos has the hardest shot in the world and it was proven a few years back. Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink came in second with the hard right footed shot he posseses...

My choice is Carlos, and Totti is 2nd, his freekicks have a lot of venom on it.

It was a botched cross. He was more aimed to the two runners to the left then the goal. There was no follow through either, which is something you practically always expect when a player takes a shot, especially when attempting a long blast.

I think the fastest shot ever measured was Hasselbainks, and it was 93 mph. Carlos gets a lot of hype, but the statistics tell the truth.

The fastest shot was not by Hasselbank, and it was not 93 mph. Beckham and Carlos routinely hit shots above 100 mph. I believe the fastest recorded was 113 mph, although I'm not sure who did it. Also, Carlos doesn't put directional curve on his shots; the technique he uses makes the ball knuckle. It curves because of the friction caused by wind on the ball.

If you saw Seedorf play live and score a goal from the midfield (the ball went straight it didnt go up then down) then you would understand why im voting for him.

on a continual basis, there is no deadlier more accurate fast, hard shot then scholes. I would love to say shearer, but scholes wins it. Carlos has pace, but more of his glory comes from teh bend on the shot.
Scholes all teh way for this one lads.

read recently on the guiness book of records that th fastest shot recorded was back in 1994/95 by a Leicester City player. can't remeber who, though..sorry
Has for seedorf's goal, powerful as it may have been (and it was...), if you see it from the camera that was behind the goal, the keeper flunked it, since he ran to his right, only to realise it was actually going to where he (the keepr) originally was
on today's players, I'd have to say bobby carlos is the most consistent one (at least that's my opinion)
I remember seing his left foot on some magazine on tv.....nails all broken and bruised...he really does massacre those toes

scholes may not have (in my opinion) such power, but he does definitely get my vote for best shot from outside the box...

i think van bronkhurst (not sure about the spelling) used to have a pretty wild shot. i remember watching him years ago against united in the cl and he was unleashing them from everywhere.
.Pep Guardiola.

seedorf has a very consistent shot. At euro, he had some great, hard shots that didn't dip. He was unlucky in hitting the post and barely missing the goal.

r. carlos certainly has got a very powrfull shot, but it´s almost allways off-target; that´s why i would vot for pavel nedved, if hi only had been on the list; and if i remember correctly, gabriel batistuta had an killer-shot, not shure about it´s condition today, though

I don't know for sure but for me.
from the list it's tie for Roberto Carlos and Seedorf imo.
But players like Rockhamback and Mancihe has powerful shots as well. ( should of seen Maniche's goal against Braga. So far out )
