Your not allowed to wear Soft Ground boots? Thats pretty funny. What if the pitch is really soft and slippery?
Sorry, just curious. Im from New Zealand.

i think they are allowed everywhere, just as long as their not metal studs or anything like that.

Jul 27 2006, 05:24 AM

errr... you can only get SG boots with metal screw-ins or metal tipped blades...unless you change the screw-ins with nylon plastic ones...

Why arent you allowed metal. Plastic is just as dangerous...Especially blades. Ive got 2 lines from the back of someones vapours right across my thigh.

I play and coach HS in MA, sg is allowed as long as the studs are not metal---nylon ones cost abouit $10

Well i play in Virginia for Massaponax HS
and i played with SG and none of the refs said anything
1st off i dont think they check
and it dosent really matter you are allowed to wear them unless they are like sharp nails or something
any ways good luck freshman

i see what u meen by saying that sg are allowed only if plastic... but for most cleats the only sg they have is metal and if you found plastic studs for sg they would allmost not fit your boot for sure, because boots have many different stud setups and configurations

I'm in western mass...they don't check every game, but some refs are strict about it and won't let you play. MIAA is our athletic association and they love to be on the "cutting edge" of sports safety so we're saddled with ridiculous rules: every sport, every player has to wear a mouthguard (concussion protection supposedly), no metal studs for soccer, and they have size requirements for shinguards, I think 75% of the shin must be covered. Its tough

In Indiana you are allowed to wear them even though they are metal. A few players on my team wear sg all the time. But I would ask your coach before you buy a pair, just to be sure.

cant believe thier are rules as to what studs you can wear, never herd of a rule lyk that here, most kids wear studs from when they start playing, about 7, and even they dont have any of these stupid rules

I live in Needham, i'm going to be a sophmore (Should be a freshman) but FG works fine, they just have that rule so kids don't sharpen the metal down.
Where exactly are you from?

I live in pa...yes you are but i dont recommend them on turf, hard dry ground...only if WET. I broke my ankle wearing them on dry ground. You are allowed to wear them for hs. Usually they dont check equipment. I forgot to put shinguards in once and played the whole half without them, refs didnt say anything cause they didnt see it i guess. For my club team few refs asked me to change the cleats... then they said its ok. Stupid refs...no offence to all of u refs here, Also im a ref too haha
